I know he did and he means well. The Midland stuff gets old and we all agree it is a great program. It should be. They recruit the best of the best and have money and travel, etc, etc. Big difference between 16 guys from Alexandria playing together for their school team and 16 guys recruited from Detroit to Louisville to play for Midland. Hellbird don't get so worked up....some people think they know D1 talent when kids are 2 years old. I have been around a while and sometimes it is just best to sit back and smile when people make foolish remarks. I know it is hard on a board like BGP, but the proof is always in the pudding and the pudding for this year says 2 d-1 Seniors-Tiberi at Holy Cross and Schreiver at CovCath. Many other very, very good seniors, but that is what we have so far in Northern Kentucky. Good luck to Cooper, Beechwood, NCC, Highlands, CovCath, Holy Cross, Boone County,SK, Ryle, Lloyd, Brossart, Scott, Campbell County, Conner, Bellevue, Newport, St. Henry and the other 80 teams that are going to win state in 2013.

So when you say scout-please clarify. Scout as in the sense of scouting them for another like program to see if they have any holes in their game that you could exploit, or scout as in the sense of a college or professional team scouting for future players. Which one is it? Big difference to me.

Hilarious! Word is that the Pittsburgh Pirates are going to set up scouting shop at St. Henry this year and they hope to select completely in Rounds 1 through 5 of the MLB draft from the Crusaders.

Many cases in point for which you mentioned-old guys like Jason Basil played for Midland....Corey Farris did too at the highest of levels...did get drafted relatively low and went to a lower level baseball playing college in Kentucky like Campbellsville-now as I understand it is out of competitive baseball. What a shame. It is tough to make it to d1 baseball or to the pros. You have to have awesome talent and then generally someone inside the organization that is looking after your best interests. Midland is a top notch organization for certain, but playing for them as a 12 year old, 14 year old or 17 year old guarantees nothing....

1AA in football

Ah just tap the brakes a little....love Suchanek and his family, but not quite certain of D-1. Fieger would need to grow substantially (and he could) to be d1 in football or baseball. I mean Max Nussbaum was a stud football player and will go to EKU (which is not d1). Just keeping things in the right perspective, not trying to damper the possibilities for the young men.

Beal was awesome, but I think Bolden has tremendous upside. Beal should have gone to DePaul. Bolden has two more years with a target on his back in high school. He has handled himself with class to this point and don't see that changing. Beal was the past. Bolden is the future!

Wow...that is strong. Boone hasn't been to the region in a while. Ryle always a tough out. Conner had a good shot last year and so did St. Henry. I'll stick with ND (no affiliation) and see what happens. I think they had a good nucleus last year, added Smith and the coach has another year under his belt. The 35th is somewhat weak so ND will be in the the region and that helps them whereas Conner, Ryle and Boone (one won't even make the region.) JMO

I think Notre Dame will be the team to beat in the 9th region. Highlands should be vastly improved due to new playing talent coming in.

I agree Solomon, and unless they had to give up the right to play there-the money deal wouldn't have been worth it for me if I was an Indian fan. The chance to make the region tourney after many years or the money. Give me the region tourney Alex.

What should we think if anything about Holy Cross? If you can't make it to the region with a bonafide d-1 player? Just searching for answers-not pointing fingers....

Agree the young talent is good, but as you said they have to stay together. Beechwood had Ogle (who then went to play high school at Notre Dame), and then Pawsat (sp) and Jessica Schilling not return to play this year really hurting the Tigers. I thought with Schilling and Pawsat (sp), the Tigers may have made the region this year. All that being said the Panda's are very good and will be tough to knock out of the region.

Maybe because often summer ball costs alot, and with traveling and such, some families don't have the income to make this kind of financial commitment. Not a knock on those than can and do,but summer ball takes commitment of both money and time.

Forgot about Duffy-say what you will but he could coach too. Not the top guy ever in the state, but you have to say he was successful wherever he went...

I'd have Yeagle, Mueller, Beatty and Smith at the top, then Jaggers, Schneider, Harp, Hilton and Lynn Ray in the next rung....
