Let's ask a more pointed question...while you were on the BOC...can you say how many transfers came up before the board in a given year, and how many were denied? Numerically or percentage wise. How do you believe this has changed since your departure from the board? My take is that I cannot think of one case lately in Northern Kentucky where a transfer has been denied, and certainly one school in Covington has had many folks transfer both in and out. Same school has an AD that is on the BOC and was when you were on it too. Just wondering if this could play a part in the decisions?? Call me cynical and certainly not one with the hands on, in-depth knowledge of the inner workings of the KHSAA, but everyone sees something has changed over the past few years. If transfers are not going to be challenged, or relatively easily allowed because of any number of reasons, including good attorney work by the transfer students family, then why not just allow transfers to occur for any student at any time? Wouldn't this still allow the bellyaching, but without blame towards the KHSAA?

Look I like everyone else on BGP appreciates LN and his BOC time. But let's cut to the chase-he has basically said you can transfer without penalty. And that is what we all thought. #1 is akin to a leader saying you don't know all the reasons we are going to war, but we are going to war. Deal with it. That is fair and happens, but is a head scratch-er. #2 is stated to allow said transfer to happen. Recruit away coaches, players and athletic directors. The high school system now has completely been corrupted now too. Don't know what can be done about it but it is a shame.

Here is my two cents and I know what that is worth...the KHSAA has obviously turned an oblivious eye to transfers and that benefits Holmes in hoops and I have great regard for their basketball prowess past, present and future; however, at the same time I don't want to hear anymore bellyaching from the Holmes faithful about how badly they get beat in football by Highlands and CovCath. Holmes sport is basketball, but then if they are getting drilled by the Bluebirds and the Colonels in football no whining about money, transfers to Ft. Thomas and Park Hills or anything like that. Take your whipping and be quiet on the gridrion.

Was not at the game, but validity on both sides. If one isn't certain what happened, then probably shouldn't post it as a "fact". That certainly is the way I read the initial report as an outsider. I do agree with TOG on the part that I like to see a little more than the score though in the reporting. BNut is to be commended for his work for BGP and Holy Cross in particular, and probably was trying to get the word out to the public. Sometimes haste makes waste though. I also agree with Clyde that you don't need a book to remember what you saw. If the teams saw value in giving a box score to BGP, then they could assign a parent or a coach to do so.. Most don't so therefore we count on updates from faithful school followers. It is frustrating when the facts aren't presented properly. Happens alot in softball with one team from Campbell County and then unfortunately everybody throws the baby out with the bathwater on their reporting. Some semblance of accuracy is important.

Correction they had enough come out but they weren't of high enough quality. That was a mistake to not have had a jv team. Coach Phil is a good guy for Lloyd and softball, but the team just isn't competitive right now.

I know you are just relaying the story LB13, but if that is true, it is flat out improper. Regardless of the situation, either you are a tuition paying student or you are not. Ridiculous.

Combs is a solid lefthanded hitter. His footing a bit shaky at 3B, but hey he is a Freshman. Stringer a go getter in CF. Both certainly play above their grade level. Fieger has proven to be a decent reliever. So far Beechwood looks decent. As for the reports that there would be 4 freshman starters in the starting lineup for the Tigers, that has not been true. Looks like Combs and Stringer are starters and Fieger and Slusher come off the bench. Beechwood off to a 3 + 0 start is encouraging. Not world beaters, but decent. As for Cooper, the three pitchers they used Thursday need to mix up their pitches a bit. The last two in particular were one pitch guys. Good luck to the Jags and the Tigers for the remainder of 2013. Catching was an area where Cooper looked stronger.

I understand. It also used to be a coveted position. I don't see it that way now. Besides the money, I see Ryle and Highlands being better opportunities in the present.

This will now be a curious hire in my opinion. Some of the names being tossed about for Highlands and Ryle are not being thrown around at Holy Cross. Who decides for the Indians an athletic director or a board?

I like both of these coaches. Seems like Scott has been plagued with injuries to start the year.

Parents thinking their kids are better than they are is all this story amounts to. I absolutely detest whiny parents. You can't please everybody all of the time.

That one made me laugh...the best program in the 9th Region has a coach that could be described the same way! No affiliation with the program, but with the talent I saw St. Henry went as far as they could. A big up from where they were. Now back to the cellar I suppose. Well as long as they win those coveted "A" tack and field state championships all is well.

When SSC and JMU31talk isn't it like talking to yourself? Don't see the value in that...

Stringer has been starting in the outfield and Combs at 3B. Hamilton has been starting at 1B and he is a Sophomore. Fieger I can't recall.

And if not he can always just go back to Holy Cross or Lloyd or Dixie....j/k

A shame because Coach Coburn is a quality coach. And their freshman team was just jeesh....not because of the coaching.
