The young Indians improve to 2-1 by defeating Cooper 10-4 in a Reds Showcase game at Bill Aker Field at NKU. Holy Cross broke open a 2-2 game in the 3rd inning with a 6 run inning. The Tribe pound out 10 hits and 10 runs giving Blake Tiberi plenty of run support today. Hunter Dunn starts for the Jaguars and takes the loss giving up 7 hits and 7 earned runs. Tiberi goes 4 innings giving up 2 runs earning his first win of the year.

 

Indians pitching limits the Jags to just 5 hits on the afternoon.

Who pitched after Dunn? I thought he was coopers ace, throwing really hard?

If you gave 7 earned runs against Dunn, then I must have watched a different game. When the first baseman drops a ball thrown to him and then the 2nd baseman moves to the side of a grounder and it goes off his glove which would have been the 2nd and 3rd outs of the inning, then HC scores the 6 runs in that inning after that. Those are all unearned. Either way, HC deserved to win the game today.

 

Cooper actually hit the ball off Tiberi better than I thought they would. A couple of shots right at people but that happens.

 

Congrats to HC on the win but no way were all those runs earned.

On a side note, I think Cooper has used 8 or 9 different pitchers over the four games played and Collins and Setser still haven't thrown. It's good to see early what you have to count on down the road. On some game threads I have seen the same pitchers names often.

 

Cooper has looked okay on a couple of games and have looked very poor in a couple but I still believe when they put their best 9 out there that they will be able to compete with anyone in NKY. It's good to get all the kids some inning's in the field and on the mound so you know what you have for later in the season. Several kids seeing their first varsity action this week.

I bet alot of kids would want you for a score keeper if that's what you thought were earned runs. I was watching from the hill through the first 4 and Dunn gave up 2 or 3 max earned runs. I saw 2 errors that led to that big inning which would have had them out of the inning before the big inning happend. HC deserved to win the game with that kind of play, but to tag Dunn with 7 ridiculous.

Hits errors who knows on those plays. HC hit the 90+ pitcher all through the lineup. I understand the last two pitchers for HC (Siebert & Niehaus) had only 1 inning of varsity experience each. Well done HC.

^The two runs in the first were earned for HC on 3 hits I believe. The last two runs for Cooper were unearned when the right fielder dropped the fly ball for what would have been the third out.

I don't think you'd find any Cooper fan who would of scored it 10 unearned runs.

You know it's pretty easy to post on BGP's and to rip someone or tell them they are wrong but most of the posters who do it, never post a line score at all, they just attend the game or worse it's "somebody told me" and then complain!

 

So might I suggest you start posting a complete line score of each of your games or leave it alone and just be thankful for a guy like Bnut24 who puts in a ton of time working with the HC kids and posting on BGP's.

Sure you can. Suggest whatever you like and the rest of us will post what we like, within the rules. You do a lot of box scores and we recognize that but that doesn't mean a person can't post information just because we don't follow your format.

First not meaning to pick on you but more so to defend someone I know who works his tail off working for all the kids at HC, week after week and year after year!

 

And why not bring a book to the game and score it and post your knowledgeable opinion about the entire game, just not on one play?

 

I think I know why the majority don't and it's because it takes time and attention to detail throughout the entire game not just one play!

 

You can't bull with your friends, text/twitter, or go get a drink and eat a dog while scoring and you have to put your knowledge of the game on line for others to rip or question, if you post to BGP's.

 

No, it's a labor of love for me and others who do it game after game, week after week and year after year and most of us believe it or not, don't even have kids playing but yet do it, because someone did it for us, when we were kids playing the game we all love!

 

Good luck to Cooper and HC both and hopefully the weather will improve soon, so I can see all of you prior to or after the game!

It's still early in the season. The story of the game was errors. Just can't make those kind of errors. When Collins gets in the rotation that will help. Carr is a solid leadoff hitter who can run on you.
