You know it's pretty easy to post on BGP's and to rip someone or tell them they are wrong but most of the posters who do it, never post a line score at all, they just attend the game or worse it's "somebody told me" and then complain!

 

So might I suggest you start posting a complete line score of each of your games or leave it alone and just be thankful for a guy like Bnut24 who puts in a ton of time working with the HC kids and posting on BGP's.

Surely you are not suggesting that only people who post box scores knows what occured at a game are you? I know you didn't mean it to come across that way.

 

 

The reason I say this is because if you read Bnut's post, he clearly didn't keep the book of the game and he posted "What he was told"....which is something you kind of hit on when you said "Even worse they say things that they have been told."

aand if he did keep the book then there would be plenty of questions on how he keeps score.

 

 

So don't get on hja when he was repoprting things that occured as he was there to witness it while the pposter you are defending posted what he said someone else told him happened.

Hellbird...I watched every pitch from the dugout. As I mentioned earlier I got some stats to post from media after game. If you anyone disagreed with any if the stats or analysis you have a right to your opinion. TOG is right on so many points. It is easy to disagree or criticize a post and review of a game especially when your team lost the game. I did list the leaders for Cooper as well.

I was saying that just because someone doesn't keep a score book doesn't mean they don't know what goes on during a game.

 

You were there also and you know there weren't 10 earned runs if you watched every single pitch.

 

Making a post as someone as respectable as you apparently are on here some tend to take it as gospel as TOG apparently did. We were simply stating that your intial post about the 10 earned runs was not correct. IF you watched every pitch you know that and we simply questioned why you would state that, if you were there you didn't need to take what was told to you by someone else when you knew it was wrong.

 

Just trying to state the facts, not opinions.

What I meant was that it's easy to pick on somebody when others never post the stats of an entire game! Sure mistakes are made but at least some are willing to put it on the line game after game, unlike other who just post tid bits of games!

 

It easy to say team A won and team B lost and Bill Smith got the win and number 53 took the lose, but it's a completely different story to give a run down of who got hits errors and how the runs were scored.

That is fine, he did put himself on the line and all we did was correct the mistake posted.

 

 

Why this is even an issue is beyond me. HC won and they deserved to win. what was commented all along was a correction to the number of earned runs.

 

Those kind of things will happen all the time. Official score keepers tend to give their team better stats which was mentioned a month ago in another thread when talking about how well a kid hit when in reality many of this certain players at bats which resulted on him gettiing on base were counted as hits even though many were from errors.

IT happens and will continue to happen and is why I don't personally put a lot of stock in "the official score book" knowing that many times it favors the score keepers own team.

 

I simply go off of what actually happened in games I actually watch. Not what someone else tells me the official score book says. Point being yesterdays game. If the "Official stats" state 7 earned runs given up by Dunn when in fact it wasn't 7 earned runs kind of proves the point I was talking about when it comes to "Official Stats"

Wow....there FIFE....Where and when did anyone every post that he threw 90+?

 

Hits errors who knows on those plays. HC hit the 90+ pitcher all through the lineup. I understand the last two pitchers for HC (Siebert & Niehaus) had only 1 inning of varsity experience each. Well done HC.

You guys will excuse me if I don't buy into the "if you don't keep a book you can't comment" thinking. I don't need a book in my hands to remember what happened and then to comment intelligently on it.

Was not at the game, but validity on both sides. If one isn't certain what happened, then probably shouldn't post it as a "fact". That certainly is the way I read the initial report as an outsider. I do agree with TOG on the part that I like to see a little more than the score though in the reporting. BNut is to be commended for his work for BGP and Holy Cross in particular, and probably was trying to get the word out to the public. Sometimes haste makes waste though.

 

I also agree with Clyde that you don't need a book to remember what you saw. If the teams saw value in giving a box score to BGP, then they could assign a parent or a coach to do so.. Most don't so therefore we count on updates from faithful school followers. It is frustrating when the facts aren't presented properly. Happens alot in softball with one team from Campbell County and then unfortunately everybody throws the baby out with the bathwater on their reporting. Some semblance of accuracy is important.

This will NEVER happen on my watch. Just speaking from the girls fastpitch side of things, I've seen it happen quite often and it is really a "head-scratcher" to think how blatant some can be with the "magic pencil".

Trust me, our boy has gotten alot better with the "pencil whipping" since he has been called out.
