This will NEVER happen on my watch. Just speaking from the girls fastpitch side of things, I've seen it happen quite often and it is really a "head-scratcher" to think how blatant some can be with the "magic pencil".

 

 

 

 

Trust me, our boy has gotten alot better with the "pencil whipping" since he has been called out.

That's great to hear, but unfortunately not all the teams think the same way as you and we've all seen the favorable score keeping at times. I wish all book keepers performed their task the way you do.

I love watching the Yankees score keeper, the most lenient keeper in the bigs. He drives me crazy. I think it is also important to go back and read what is considered an error, if its not routine, it's not an error. There is no 'it touched his glove rule'. It's not he could've caught it, it's that play is usual and customary. If an infielder is taking more than 5 steps on a grounder or an outfielder is leaving his feet, it's probably not an error per the rule book IMO of the rules.

That is very true. The errors in question in the Cooper game however occured with 2 outs and no runs in during this inning until the 2 errors occured. First was a routine play to SS and the throw to first was dropped by the first baseman. Second error following in the same inning occured when the 2nd baseman got a grounder hit to him (didn't have to move) and the ball bounced off his glove which those 2 errors led to 6 runs being scored that inning after the errors took place.

Kentonman......Been gone for a long time from this site, but I'm back. I REALLY know a lot about Dunn and I can tell you that he has hit 90 on the gun one time in a bullpen, which I witnessed. I also can get reports for you on what he does actually throw, if you need it. Was he on his game? NO! Guess we'll have to see what happens if they face off again and we can leave it at that. Hat's off to HC and good luck the rest of the season.

 

Hits errors who knows on those plays. HC hit the 90+ pitcher all through the lineup. I understand the last two pitchers for HC (Siebert & Niehaus) had only 1 inning of varsity experience each. Well done HC.

I have to concur with hja1224. Being at the game his details are accurate regarding the earned run situation. These were errors for fact. No one dove, took 10 steps or anything dramatic to make the plays. ERRORS people PERIOD!

Dingerbird.............You are correct in your explanation of what is technically an error. Trust me......in this game these were errors beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I don't know if that's anyway to get BNUT since this was given to you and it's not your stats being posted, RIGHT? Do you have stats on the game? Just wondering? TOG, seemed to get your back on something that wasn't even really yours correct? Just trying to get down to the nuts and bolts. Thanks BNUT! Look forward to your reply! My apologies to all the Cooper fans as I only posted what I was given. There wasn't anything against Dunn or the team. Im guessing if a Cooper fan or scorekeeper would have posted a score and/or any stats all 10 runs would have been unearned? Dunn i believe went 2 2/3 innings.

 

Kentonman is right as Seibert and Niehaus who followed Tiberi did a nice job as they are both getting their first appearances at the varsity level this year. All in all to hold Cooper to 5 hits is a solid job. I was very impressed with Carr for the Jags. Solid player.

 

Good luck to both teams. I'm sure when Collins gets into the rotation that will be huge for Cooper.
