WHO'S NEXT?

Graves practiced in McCracken's indoor facility this week. No passing game really screwed the Eagles, a total of 8 yds of passing just wasn't gonna get it done tonight

So having several schools in one county, but not the same city, is more impressive than the only 2 schools in the county and same city?

I also have question, started wondering this after the Graves win at BG. Has there ever been a player to throw a touchdown pass for 2 different schools in a championship game? Graves will need to avoid "the deer in the headlights" scenario which happens to most 1st timers. With Reed playing in multiple championships, much of that will fall on his shoulders, before and during the game. County fans may have huge support if the city folks show up a night early to catch the 5A game. With BG in your region, this may be a rare opportunity to make Mayfield Title Town, Ky USA.

Watched the Williamsburg/Raceland game, and I do feel the Burg is a better team than last year, not impressed overall from what Raceland brought to the table though. Can't say that this year's game will be much closer, as Mayfield took their foot off the gas pretty quickly in last year's romp. The ratio of run to pass plays is far less important than the situation of when you use one or the other.

Any highlights from that website came directly from WLWT in Cincinnati and they were fairly brief. Fox Cincinnati had the better highlights of this game.

Week 0 felt that the gap narrows this year in 1A, but no one would get over the hump that is Mayfield. Not there yet, but getting close. Go Mayfield! Go Graves! Time for a new title town!!!

Mayfield makes great adjustments at half, but this still has the makings of a classic.

Jonathan Jackson could have gone to Ole Miss if he wanted to go big, but wanted to stay close to home at Murray. Who can blame the young man for wanting to play in front of his friends and family as well as play on the same team with his former Mayfield mates. I would be curious to hear Coach Buckets take from Frankfort, his feeling was that Mayfield has the best defense in 1A. I wondered if his opinion has changed after seeing the Tigers in person

This won't be one long trip across the state. Mayfield will make the trip from Louisville on Friday. Cards have not previously and will not use travel as an excuse for anything that happens here.

That's one way to look at it, or if you don't actually have the answer you just keep quiet. That's probably more true than being nervous. Silence is golden when you're 0 and 7 vs. the opposition. :sssh:

A championship appearance from Owensboro would also help this year.

Finally, a post with real answers as to why Beechwood could beat Mayfield. Mayfield will be more 70/30 run to pass. Not a lot of pressure for sophomore QB. Beechwood has never been pass happy in games against Mayfield, so comparing this team's ability to throw compared to previous years doesn't say much.

Hear the same stuff every... single... year. Why would 2014 be any different? This is gonna be a long week of why "We're better this time".

Week after week I kept wondering why the "voting members" kept the Eagles out of the BGP Top 10 of 5A. I guess they go from being unranked to #1. In Mayfield, you know a good team when u see it, and Graves put all the pieces together after that Mayfield game . Looking for a new Title Town in a couple of weeks

Go to northern kentucky sports and watch one of their earlier games. Both offense and defense units will really get after it for Beechwood. Qb can hold his own. Likes to roll out and throw on the run. Receivers are average compared to Mayfield, although receivers have mainly been used for blocking the edges more than catching anything in years past. Good team speed, not great. Rugby style punter will take off and run with it. Beechwood will find it much more difficult to run between the tackles like they did on the Panthers. Bright and Tyler will fair well on the Tiger turf next week.

Russ was down 2 scores as soon as they got off the bus and really had little success moving the ball until it was too late and this one was in hand. Excellent job by the line creating lanes and giving Arnett the time he needed. Only forced to scramble a couple of times, with one going for a TD pass.

Shoot out at the Beechwood Corral

I wouldn't be overly focusing on stopping only Crider. Reed and Marshall will complement Crider as playmakers for the Eagles.

While neither team played their best against each other in the 1st meeting, Mayfield seems to have more room for improvement after that first matchup. Worried about the success R'Ville started to have through the air late in that game. Panthers started to pick on Bright and his lack of height in the secondary Really surprised they couldn't get that game into overtime. Mayfield needs to keep momentum on their side and hold this to more than 1 score going into the 4th. 24 to 12 Mayfield.
