Toothpick Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 This figures to be the biggest obstacle for the Cards chances to get to BG to defend their title one last time in their farewell tour of class A before returning to their true home in AA. Russ is the fastest team we have played all year and will present the Cards with many challenges. On the positive side the Cards will be at home and should be ready but this will be a major schedule upgrade from rounds 1 and 2 and will require the Cards best effort to date
truecardinalfan Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Russellville is undisciplined. That will be even worse playing away from home.

rookie57 Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 This will be a close game, I think the Cardinals pull away late for a 14 point victory.
Toothpick Posted November 15, 2014 Author Posted November 15, 2014 No disrespect to Frankfort or Beechwood there! :idunno: No disrespect, I just fear Russ far more than Bw or Frank. I think this is out biggest obstacle, at least this week anyway
truecardinalfan Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 I think Mayfield is in a stride right now. I like the play calling and mixing it up . Were hurting teams from lots of different angles offensively right now and defensively...WOW...and a kicker that can win a game from 45 yards away....All I can say is Caldwell Co.. Enough said
UK fball fan Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Not sure why, but, for some reason, Russellville doesn't get mentioned or recognized with the other 1a elite teams. It seems to always be Mayfield, Beechwood or Frankfort mentioned from the west, occasionally throwing in the Panthers, but, more times than not, they're left off. They're a legit contender, imo. I think they'll have a tough time beating Mayfield, but, they're certainly capable. There team speed and athleticism is exceptional. I think Mayfields depth and defense may be the difference, but, that oblong ball bounces funny ways sometimes and if Russellville can get a break or 2, they could definitely pull the upset.. I'm picking the Cardinals because they have a long history of playing up to the competition, even moreso, come playoff time. They just seem to be able to flip the switch a notch or 2 and gel at the most opportune times. I see the same thing here.. Mfd 28 Rsv 7

They are the fastest team we faced this year. I do feel homefield throws this one Mayfields way...interesting till midway through the second...Mayfield pulls away after halftime. I like it 31-20 Mayfield
snakesnot_2000 Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Mayfield should win this by 21+. Russellville shouldn't score more than once unless Mayfield has a turnover or breakdown. I don't see Russellville having more than one sustained drive against this defense. Mayfield will be more prepared for this game after seeing their scheme from the last game. I'm sure the coaches will have the players attention after their last matchup also. Russellville is a capable team if Mayfield doesn't give their best effort .
Guest fogdog.com Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 You have to get to BG to get some respect. The Ville has not done this yet. Rickey Bobbie always said the runner up is the first loser?
FanofMany Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Does Mayfields nice field help the speed of Russelville?
rookie57 Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Does Mayfields nice field help the speed of Russelville? I can't see where it would, now a turf field might play to russelville's advantage.
WHO'S NEXT? Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 While neither team played their best against each other in the 1st meeting, Mayfield seems to have more room for improvement after that first matchup. Worried about the success R'Ville started to have through the air late in that game. Panthers started to pick on Bright and his lack of height in the secondary Really surprised they couldn't get that game into overtime. Mayfield needs to keep momentum on their side and hold this to more than 1 score going into the 4th. 24 to 12 Mayfield.
