I really think Dixie's pass defense will be the key in this one. They haven't faced a qb with the passing ability of Kuntz all year. IF they can throttle Kuntz (A BIG IF) and don't turn the ball over, I think they have a decent shot at pulling the upset.

I've been to PLENTY of games over the years in ALL sports, and can tell you Campbell Co has shown up with lackluster fan support on the road many, many times. Honestly I could care less what the opposing team does. I sure didn't run to my computer to make a soap opera out of it on BGP.

Tough loss for Dixie, but 5-2 at this point in the season (with both losses coming down to the final minute) is nothing to hang your head about. I'll be very interested to see how they bounce back against SK. SK is by far the best team Dixie will face this year in the regular season. If they bring their "A" game, it could be a good one. And oh yeah, keep me on the list of people that still think Dixie has a stronger team than CovCath this year.

Huge difference from last year. Last year after 6 games, Dixie had given up 226 points. If the Colonels take care of the ball and don't turn it over 4-5 times like they did against CCH they should be fine in this one.

I don't know all of their names, but I heard from a very reliable source that they are all from Simon Kenton.

I really like this Dixie squad. Unlike years past, they have a defense that swarms to the ball and hits extremely hard. Hopefully this continues the second half of the season in the big district games.

I agree...thought they could've run all night against CCH.

If Dixie doesn't turn the ball over 4 times like they did against CCH, they should be fine. I look for them to chalk up the "W" Friday.

I'm not sure who your source is that tells you Dixie's been strong every year since 2000. I can count on one hand how many legit teams they've had in the last 13 years that had a shot at a region crown. NewCath hasn't exactly been walking away with Regional crowns either...all of which have nothing to do with the upcoming season. Let's face it, Holmes squeeked by every game in the Regional tourney last year. I don't expect that to get easier this upcoming season. NewCath will be the team to beat. Holmes is Bolden...period,

If Dixie does pull the upset, they will have more than earned it going up against the 3 toughest opponents (imo) in the tournament in NCC, Beechwood and Ryle.

I agree with TOG. Let's focus on the game. It was one of the best finishes to a high school game I've witnessed.

It was a student in the first row...not related to the team . It sure would be nice to have students supervised at these events when they cross the line.

Was this in reference to the Beechwood student pulling their pants down and dancing on the Beechwood dugout while Dixie was batting in the seventh?

Niehaus pitched a very good game for Dixie. I think Beechwood only had 4 hits all night.

All runs are included in a homerun (6-2 Final). And yes, a very deceiving final score.

Dixie had 2 outs and nobody on in the seventh (down 2-1) when the Beechwood pitcher plunked a batter and all Hades broke loose.

Excellent pitching by both Combs (Dixie) and Cain (NCC). Dixie's Harrison with the clutch hit in the bottom of the seventh. Caple with a big double earlier in the game. Congrats to Max and the Gang as they advance to Wed. night.

I think this thing is really at the point of putting 8 teams in a hat pulling out a winner. Any team can defeat another and the draw will give us a little more useful info. This is one of the most balanced field of teams going in to the tournament that I've seen in a while.
