I've been looking forward to this one for a while now. Should be a great game. SK wins and the district is there's. A DH win and it's a 3 way tie for 1st place. Do we go to points for/against as the tie breaker or does the KHSAA have some witchcraft to decide who gets the 1 seed?

Yes there is a formula and I think SK wins the tiebreaker as it takes wins of teams that you defeated outside of district. ( Now we know the thinking behind the schedule) Should be a moot point as SK is better on both lines.

If wins by teams you defeated is the factor, a weak schedule could hurt if the teams you beat aren't good enough to get wins. For example, a win over Holy Cross does SK no good because Holy Cross only has 1 win.

 

Here is the rule (from KHSAA site) if there is a 3 way tie and each team has a win over one of the others:

 

If the tie remains, each team tied for the position shall

receive one point for each game won by any four of their

defeated opponents in all games, except for the games

played between any two of the tied teams. All games played

shall be counted in applying the tie-breaking procedure,

including out of state games, with the exception that a

defeated school may be counted only once in the procedure

regardless of the number of games played against that

particular school.

This should be the game of the week in NKY. SK has an explosive offense and Dixie's D is top notch. I watched both play and believe Dixie's D will match up well. If they can keep Kuntz from extending plays I think this game is too close to call.

 

For my own selfish reasons I will pick Dixie in a close defensive battle. 20 -17.

Why would it be a plate of crow? I complimented both teams and my opinion is Dixie's D matches up well and I predicted a close game. I really don't have a dog in this fight.

Bad match up for Dixie. SK will score at least 40 points. Dixie couldn't beat the Camels no way will they beat SK.

The big reason that SK won against the Camels was the enibility of getting pressure on Kuntz. Dixie's front line should be able to get pressure on the QB. Dixie is by far stronger on the Defensive side of the ball.

 

Another reason I believe Dixie will match up well with SK is because of the run game. Using your philosphy SK was not able to contain the Camels run game. I believe they scored 35 on SK. This run game will help control the time of possesion and will limit SK explosive offense touches.

 

My final point will be turnover. My beloved Camels have been fighting the turnover bug all year. They turned the ball over twice deep in their own territory which led to 14 points and a three TD deficet very quickly. I believe Dixie will take care of the ball and once again limit the touches.

 

This game in my opinion will be a close game and determined by less than a TD.

 

Now I know you put a ton of thought into the two sentences above but if you would like to expand on your opinion a little more we are all waiting with bells on.

I think they can. But can they do it for 4 quarters? I'll admit, it's going to be tough, Dixie will have to play smart, cut down on the silly penalties. SK's the top 6A dog in Nky and Dixie's been kind of rebuilding a stagnant program. Sk's at home, it's their senior night and the place will be packed. I'll be pulling for the Colonels but I have to give a slight edge to the Pioneers.

 

Hope both teams come out of the contest injury free.
