If my math is correct it looks like she needs 63 points to surpass Jamie Walz after scoring 220 points in her last 5 games to give her 1035 on the season. She still has 9 games left in the regular season so based on her current 49.3 average you would expect her to break the record on Feb. 4th at Perry County Central. In an earlier outing against Perry Co. Central she scored 55 points. She faces Painstville next On Feb. 2nd at Paintsville. I would expect a full house for those next 2 games in anticipation of her breaking the record.

Congratulations to the Conner lady cougars JV team as they captured their 3rd consecutive regional championship last night at Notre Dame with a 39-19 victory over the Highlands lady bluebirds. Congratulations to the girls who made the all tourney team, Casey Hite, Maddie Burcham and tourney MVP Madi McLemore. Over the last 3 seasons the lady cougars have only lost 3 games, 2 in 2013-2014, 0 in 2014-2015 and they just recently lost a heartbreaking 2 pt game to Simon Kenton for their only blemish of the 2015-2016 season to date. Finish out the season strong ladies and enjoy yourselves.

Last year the crowds for the opening round games were from 4800 - 5000, quarters were 5500 and 4300, semis 4500 and finals 5300 per the KHSAA.

900 wins is impressive indeed. Are these all at the high school level? Just wondered how he ranks nationally. I couldn't find him listed among the all-time wins leaders in the NFHS database. There were several on there from Ky.

Tough to gauge Conner on one bad outing without one of their leading scorers. CovCath can expose you if you are not 100% healthy and you don't bring your "A" game. Conner has been very competitive against almost every team they have played and have been without Hemmerich since before Christmas. This is the most points the Camels have scored all year and against a team that will get after you on defense. I wouldn't take anything away from them on this win, maybe not signature but a good win none the less.

You math guys are something else. Live with the 3 and die with the 3. What's the probability of that? If it happens in a one and out situation say goodnight!

Low compared to the better teams in the state but you bring up a good point about the freshmen. Actually they have shot it much better than the senior so far this year. I guess I would still like to see them go inside more to maybe set up a little better look. What disturbs me about this team is that they don't shoot a whole lot better from 2 then 3.

What do you mean? Just because you take more doesn't mean that you WILL make more.

Apparently some coaches think that if you shoot enough of them you should make more. Personally I think they need to look inside more often then they do. A little inside out game can get you better looks at times.

Just a side note, I thought that Terry Niehaus and Dave Bezold did an excellent job on the radio call of the game. Bezold added nice touches to the broadcast from a coaches perspective.

If people think HC doesn't have a huge advantage playing good teams at home they haven't seen many big games there. There's something about playing all the time in that gym that the visitors don't get to experience. The closeness is something that other gyms around the area don't have and shooting background, tight baselines and the deafening sound are tough to get used to in a single game. Huge advantage HC imho.

You want to play a regional tilt at the Finn? It's bad enough to play the district there. You'd have to get there at 4:00 to get in.

Was anyone at this game? I understand that it was a close game at the half but when I look at the stats I see terrible shooting percentages across the board for Conner but yet they won going away. 14 for 77 total (18%) and 1 for 21 from 3 (4.8%), 19 for 33 from the line (58%). One thing that jumps out at me was that Gambrel went to the line a whopping 20 times and converted 13 of them. Did Conner cause problems with their trapping full court defense? Did Boone Co. play straight man defense the whole game? Just wondering from afar.

Hemmerich is the leading scorer about 17/per. He sprained his ankle badly about 2 weeks ago and has missed about 5 games.

How many times have you seen them step back behind the line with both feet to shoot the 3? They don't seem to call that either.

I'm not talking about recently. I remember the first time sometime cried about a travel and someone said no that's a jump stop and more recently no that's a euro step! How were those moves brought into high school ball? It's not like they were never done before just new names I guess for an old move?

It seems like rules have changed to make it easier on the referees. I guess it's easier to just let things go then blow the whistle.

I know there are basketball referees on this site and many more who think they know all the rules. I watch as much high school and grade school basketball as I can and it amazes me as to how much walking goes on that is not called. Now maybe I am ignorant of the new rules on traveling and such for today's game but I see things that make me scratch my head. One that really bugs me is when a player is standing on the outside and receives a pass and proceeds to slide BOTH feet usually to the left to setup for the shot. I thought that you had to establish a pivot foot and that if you moved both feet that was a travel. I am not talking about getting set to receive the ball. I am talking about having the ball in their hands and then sliding to one side to set up the shot. With all the rules about jump stops and euro step moves and whatever else they call those moves that years ago were just travels do referees just let this go or is it in fact a travel and should be called as such? Help me out here.
