  1. With his stuff you try to find that out. Pedro Martinez wasn't as big, (5'11 170 lbs), as Iglesias and pitched for 18 years in the bigs. Electric stuff like his comes along every so often and they would be wasting it if they didn't make an attempt to make a starter out of him. With what they are paying him through 2020 you don't throw him in the bullpen. You might as well trade him while he has some value.
  2. I meant to say he has proven he has the stuff to start.
  3. Here we go again with Cingrani. Can the guy throw anything but a fastball?
  4. He has too much good stuff to waste him in a long role. How many of the other young pitchers have the variety of pitches that he has, and he has proven he can start?
  5. Yeah they really tore the cover off the ball in the 1st inning didn't they?
  6. I'm really starting to like Tucker Barnhart. He's cheap and the Reds control him through 2021.
  7. If it wasn't for Votto in the lineup tonight this kid for Miami might pitch a nono against this lineup.
  8. Does Thom Brennaman ever shut his mouth? I don't know who likes to hear themselves talk more him or George Grande. They both think they are the smartest announcers in the world and they want to tell you everything they know. I just like to watch the game and could care less about the useless statistical information they give out each and every night they announce. I was beginning to like Jim Day doing the games even if he is kind of dry. I have to admit that I didn't miss Thom a bit when he was gone.
  9. This was a scrimmage right? Maybe the Scott coach was working on a few specific things and didn't want to give away any more info than necessary. Just saying not knowing a thing about Scott.
  10. That's announced attendance, a lot of no shows I guess. Monday night, thunderstorms threatening the area?
  11. Should have been an error on Votto, just a terrible underhand toss to the pitcher.
  12. Here's the link. Maher Rankings | Kentucky High School Soccer Rankings
  13. Thought the exact same thing. If Holiday hits a HR it will be to left or left center. The ball dropped right where Schebler would have been playing in a normal situation with Holiday up.
  14. Holiday was 4 for 8 against Cingrani before last nigth and I'm sure they both knew that.
  15. Okay let's just go back 1 week to last Tuesday for starters. They played St. Louis at home coming off of an offday on Monday. They were tied up 2-2 with Straily pitching well and at that point had only thrown 78 pitches. He pulled Straily and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on that move because I don't know the circumstances. I know it was hot that night and maybe he was gassed? He didn't pinch hit for him or anything. He's got Iglesias rested and still brings in Ohlendorf who gives up the lead right away with a HR. The Reds take the lead in the bottom of the 7th 4-3 and Price now brings in Wood who promptly gives up a HR and gives up the lead. Now the Reds to their credit do come back and beat St. Louis closer 7-5. On Wednesday down 5-4 he brings in Lorenzen in the 8th I assume to keep the game close and uses him 2 innings. I'm okay with that as Lorenzen has been very effective lately. Mind you now Iglesias hasn't pitched since Saturday so going to Thursday he has had 4 days off?? On Thursday he wakes up and realizes Iglesias has had too many days off so he uses him 2 innings in a game the Reds are up 7-0. On Friday night I guess he feels he is forced to use Ohlendorf in the bottom of the 9th tied 2-2 so guess what happened, we all know thank you another leadoff HR by a reliever. Saturday no Iglesias in Bailey's debacle but I wouldn't have expected to see him there but guess what on Sunday? Sunday up 7-2 he brings Iglesias in and also uses Lorenzen and Cingrani each for an inning I guess to salvage the lone win against Pittsburgh. So to this point in 1 week he has used his best reliever twice in one week and both times when they were up big????? On Monday up 4-0 he brings his closer in to start the 9th. We all know and I'm sure by now that Price knows this as well Cingrani has 1 pitch and that's all he'll throw. You can't throw 25 fastballs to the Cards and not expect bad things to happen and you can't bring straight fastball Ohlendorf in with the bases loaded tied and not expect him to lose the game. I'm done venting. Bryan Price has proven time and time again he can't manage a bullpen, surprising for a pitching coach. Now all this said I do understand that this team is going nowhere and Price is probably, (I sure hope so), trying to see who he can use where but to me it sure makes me wonder if he truly knows what he is doing.
  16. How about using his pitchers better? Do you agree with the way he brings them into different situations?
  17. Chris Welsh just asked "Did this really happen?". How comical that he couldn't believe that this bullpen was capable of doing what they just did.
  18. I think HammerTime hit the nail on the head with Bryan Pryce trying to do all he can to assure this team of another high draft pick. Brings his closer in with a 4 run lead and then with the bases loaded and up 4-3 he brings in the straight ball pitcher Ohlendorf. Does anybody throw more fast balls than the Red's bullpen? Do they have anybody but Iglesias that can throw a breaking ball in that bullpen?:idunno:
  19. No later than 2nd round is what I'm hearing.
  20. The stat is more than that, it's the 1st batter that the reliever faces when they come out of the bullpen. The Reds have had multiple guys do it in an inning. It's becoming almost comical. I don't think any team will ever approach the number the Reds are going to put up here. You would think at some point they are going to be afraid to pitch to the 1st guy and maybe walk him to avoid it. This has to soon become a running joke on ESPN or somewhere where they start tracking it on Sportscenter or something. Has anybody in the pen avoided this?
  21. I guess he wanted in on the action! :idunno:
