To go off of the NCC thread I want to see your opinion on if the bulldogs had a "successful" season. Although they did not win the 9th region I thought they made a nice run and made it farther than most thought they would.

IMO: Only one 9th region team has had a successful season and that is CovCath.

Yes. Definitely a successful season. I've been following the Bulldogs for many years. I think Coach L and his assistants did a quality job in getting the most out of this team, especially this past week.

They had a strong finish to a decent year. Beat a very good NCC team and made Cov Cath earn the title.

Yes and no. Holmes IMO Holmes coaches did a great job with the game plan for this game after two earlier losses to CovCath, and the team executed the game plan very well. The main problem they had was that their best two players didn't shoot the ball well, and wasn't like it was because of great defense in this one. They had some good lucks and just couldn't make it. However in the players minds I am sure they may not see it as a success because they know they very easily could have won it, and looking back at it they will only remember how close they were.

I think they had a season to be proud of. They took a lot of heat on these boards with folks saying they were ranked too high, were not a top team this year, etc. But Holmes managed to finish 2nd in the region, ahead of a couple teams that most said were better than Holmes.

Coach listerman is not a good coach. You don't play stall ball and just pass around the arc. They need a new coach to get these boys to play.

I am not giving my opinion but I think a lot of people would disagree with you on this.

Coach Listerman is absolutely one of the greatest men I have ever met. I have no doubt in my mind if I were in a hospital bed he would visit me - and I only played for him for about half a year.

 

Basketball wise, I think his teams have underachieved. At CCH, he coached three 1000 point scorer's (Thelen, Jacobs, Maile) in addition to a TON of other great players (D Noll, Nesthtide, Bovard, Tierney, Votel) and only won 2 regional titles. As I said, he is one of the greatest men I've ever met, but I think the game has passed him up.

Back to the thread. Only the kids and coaches can answer this. Disappointed at the end, but they were a successful bunch of kids that can walk around their heads held high.

 

Coach L needs no defending A-1 coach IMO.

Could not agree with your thoughts any more! The thing that bothered me most about it is, during preseason meetings and such is he would talk about doing this and that, using the strength of the players, etc and then not once during the year would we see it. Drove me nuts for three straight years. Anyway, you will not find a better man out there - but with regards to his coaching - I wish my son could have played for Ruthsatz.

I think they had a successful season. Yeah they didn't win the region but they lost to a very good covcath team and also beat two very good teams along the way in Dixie and NCC.
