I would think SK wins.When these two play in recent years, it seems like it's close for the first half then SK pulls ahead after intermission. Good luck to both teams.

Thanks for the great recap, as always, CWB. There are a lot of great senior leaders and players on both teams. I believe both are among the top 10 teams in KY regardless of class. What an outstanding lidlifter on the 2025 season! This game could go either way. Looking forward to making the trip to join a packed house in Park Hills.

Great preparation game for Cooper. I don't see a path to victory in this game for Cooper, but it will help them in pursuit of a 5A title. A close game is unlikely.

Ouch. CovCath is a strong title contender in 4A. I wonder if NewCath will contend in 1A. Ryle and CovCath will be a war Friday night. Good luck to the Breds this year!

Nothing about the scrimmage changes my thinking that the Rocks are the team to beat in the bluegrass.

The goal of the scrimmage was accomplished by both teams. I don't believe we should get caught up in what the score was when who was playing and what it would have been if this, that, and whatever. Coaches try different players in different situations to understand strengths and weaknesses. They are preparing for a season and how to win a championship. Both teams are excellent in their respective classes. Both teams are disciplined and well coached. Both teams learned a lot. Great scrimmage from all viewpoints. Best wishes to both teams moving forward!

Good recap as usual by VOR. This was a good scrimmage by two good programs. Savage is outstanding. Both teams have excellent placekickers that have 50+ yard legs for FGs and opposing teams will normally start at the 20 due to touchbacks. Tigers struggled with punting, but I'm sure that will improve over the year. Verax will be a containment problem for defenses when he needs to scramble. Queen has a good arm and will continue to get better. Both teams have the shot at playing for a state title again this year. It was an enjoyable night and beneficial to both teams, which is the goal of a scrimmage.

I'm sad for Dave's family, friends, and the Conner HS community as they deal with this unexpected event.

Conner came out on fire with Finn Louden scoring 14 points in the first 5-6 minutes. He is a fine player. Ryle then went crazy on a 23-3 run starting the last 2-3 minutes of the first quarter to go from 13-7 Conner to 30-16 Ryle into the 2Q. The Cougars clawed back to only 2 points down before Ryle seized control to go up by 9 at the break. Conner came as close as 4-5 points midway through the 3Q but Ryle was up double digits heading into Q4. Conner battled hard but Ryle held the upper hand for the final 3 quarters. Landon Lorms had 27 for Ryle. The Raiders played with high intensity for 32 minutes. Great crowd and atmosphere. Congrats to Ryle and great season in Hebron!!

It's always best to hear both sides to a story. There tends to be some truth from both sides. Sounds like getting to the bottom of this saga could take awhile. I hate this for all parties involved.

For sure - Conner and Cooper. The scoreboard shows that the game is at Conner. I'd hate to see you and your son show up at the wrong venue.

As to Ryle's 2025 schedule, the Raiders renewed with CAL but not St X. Fern Creek becomes the new Tigers on the schedule.

I just confirmed with a reliable source that Ryle and St X did not renew their series.

I was assuming so count me wrong in regards to Ryle/St X in 2025. My apologies.

Ryle welcomes back the vast majority of their top players for another shot at winning their first 6A state championship in 2025. Even though the 2024 season was very successful, the Raiders fell short of their goal to "hoist the hardware at Kroger". Highlights included the first half running clock defeat of St. X in round 2 of the playoffs, 8 straight running clock victories, the 4Q comeback win at CAL and the OT win over Highlands. You always have to replace good players and Ryle has some solid underclassmen to fill gaps. Stud DE Dillon Smith and WR Landon Lorms are their 2 most notable losses to graduation. I believe the Raiders return 15 starters including Jacob Savage and Dylan Lee both ways plus QB Nathan Verax. Jacob should be a leading candidate for Kentucky's Mr. Football this year: The players and staff will put in the work required to compete for the state championship. A challenging non-district schedule that includes Covington Catholic, Cooper, Highlands, CAL, and St. X will have them well prepared for district play and the playoffs.
