  1. Congrats Ryle. Cooper will win a lot of games this year.
  2. Beautiful pass from Verax to Lorms and it’s 28-10 Raiders with 1:53 to play.
  3. Nine in a row over Cooper and the Raiders pull a nice mini-upset.
  4. Cam O’Hara is an excellent sophomore QB and Ryle has done a decent job of shutting him down.
  5. I am so proud of the Raiders. Plenty of mistakes by both young teams.
  6. Good defensive stand and Ryle’s snaps have been hurting them tonight.
  7. Great defensive stand and outstanding hustle on the fumble recovery tackle to save a TD.
  8. Cooper throws the ball well and finally broke their first good run.
  9. Hmmm. Good job by the best team in NKY. CovCath is solid and extremely well coached.
  10. It will be great to see the stands full and lots of kids running around tonight in the Battle of Union. First rivalry mischief occurred overnight with an outhouse placed outside the Borland stadium gates defaced with adult language. I’m looking forward to a good game.
  11. I’m not familiar with their players. Names I remember called out over the PA system were Reardon, Payne, Pitzer. Both teams had some serious size and some good athletes.
  12. In an extremely entertaining game, Ryle came from behind to beat CovCath 22-15 at Ryle this evening. Some nice players on both teams.
  13. Highlands is fine and has improved every year since Coach Sphire took over for the “2-day coach”. They have a decent shot at winning 5A this year. Can things be better? Every program in KY except Boyle Co, who is highly likely to pull off a 4 and 5-peat, would say yes. Humans are involved and we all make mistakes. I expect the Birds to have a great year.
  14. In the series since Cooper was opened, half of the games have been close, including the last 2 years, and half of the games decided by 3 touchdowns or more. Raiders have been on the winning end of 7 of the 8 games that were not highly competitive for 4 quarters. I look for a repeat of the last two years in a game that could go either way. Some solid playmakers on both squads and good QB play. Like most close games - turnovers, big plays, and special teams determine the winner. I’ve been privileged to watch each of the 16 games in person. Both teams always seem prepared and disciplined, which is a tribute to coaches and players in a hotly contested rivalry.
  15. Cooper visits Ryle in another Union backyard battle in front of a big crowd. I see a close game decided late as Cooper tries to break their 8-game losing streak. Neither team winning would surprise me. Some fun players to watch on both teams. Should be a beautiful evening for Friday night lights.
