Simon Kenton at Conner Predictions/Updates
StraightShooter replied to MaddenCurse44's topic in KY Football (High School)
Conner needs to have success throwing the ball to pull the upset. The Cougars are much improved from 2022 and SK is not. I could see this game staying close or a Cougar win if SK doesn’t take care of the ball. -
The Raiders could pull an upset by the narrowest of margins. If the game is not close, it’s a fun bus ride to the Ville. I have no idea which Verax will be at QB since Logan was injured last week. I’m looking forward to seeing another D1 QB in action. I want the Raiders to play their tails off for 48 minutes. It will be a perfect night for football in NKY! Safe travels to CAL.

Conner could make it interesting but SK should pull out a win in Hebron. Certainly not a no doubter. -

49ers are Super Bowl caliber for sure. No surprise in the outcome. However, getting blown out at home is not a good luck for the 2023 preseason champions. -
Browns 24 Bengals 3

I hardly ever pick against the Bengals but had that gut feeling all week and chose the Brownies to win. Perfect storm situation and rain on top of it. Plenty of gut to feel with - lol. Joe B will not play two bad games in a row. No time to feel sorry with the Ravens flying into the Jungle next week. All is well even though it doesn’t seem like it right now. -
Congrats to the Birds on a dominating win. No comments on Ryle’s egg. Highlands is capable of winning 5A but Dixie and Cooper will not be easy games.

Ryle at Highlands Predictions/Updates

Always best to be nervous as that breeds humility, concentration, and proper mental focus. I’m always nervous and never take anything for granted until the game is over or the outcome is clearly decided. -
Ryle at Highlands Predictions/Updates
StraightShooter replied to Kenny Powers's topic in KY Football (High School)
Ryle has a really good schedule to prepare them for district play with underdog status in 5 of their first 6 games. Highlands will win most of their games this year. Raiders must take care of the football this year against the Birds to have a chance to leave the Fort with a W. If the Raiders win, it will be by a narrow margin. -
Ryle at Highlands Predictions/Updates
StraightShooter replied to Kenny Powers's topic in KY Football (High School)
This one could go either way. Turnovers, big plays, special teams will be the determinants as always with equally matched teams. I’ll pick Ryle because they are capable of winning. -
I remember a wise young man saying earlier this week: “If Ryle wins I think it is a combination of Ryle being better than "we" think and Cooper not being as good as "we" think.” Good call. Both teams will continue to improve. Ryle has a tough schedule with Highlands, CAL, BYE, and St X during September. The Raiders will be well prepared for district play.

7 smart people and 94 realistic people! Congrats to CovCath on the dominating win! -
Dixie is obviously much improved. Congrats to both teams on battling hard for 48+. Congrats to Beechwood on regrouping to win.
-
Both teams made plenty of key mistakes. They are both very young and talented. Both teams’ run defense was stout all night. I only remember a couple of long gainers on the ground including Logan Verax’s outstanding 47-yard keeper. I’m surprised Cooper doesn’t throw the ball to AA more. Entertaining game.

Congrats to Ryle. Nine in a row wins over Cooper feels good. It was a game of alternating mistakes. Landon Lorms running down Jack Lonaker from a 10 yard deficit to keep him from a scoop and score was the play of the game. Both teams have impressive sophomores and juniors. Cooper will win most of their games this year. Huge crowd at Ryle.
