Excellent recap U97. CAL is the favorite. Dylan Lee is likely out again as he was for the Cooper game, which is a huge loss for Ryle on offense, defense, and special teams. Should be a great night for football. Hopefully, Ryle takes care of the ball and eliminates a lot of the major penalties and miscues to keep it close. Ryle needs to win the TO battle to win the game. Safe travels to the Centurions.

Missing players due to graduation is not comparable to having key players from the current team out due to injury. Speaking of injury, I'm sorry to hear the young man from Cooper is injured seriously. Ryle will be fine, but will badly miss those two key players against two really good teams the next two weeks.

Trinity continues to be the top 6A team with St X second this year. No one I know at Ryle claimed they were the top 6A team in the state. Top team in the district for sure. No Neer fear here. CAL is excellent and one of the top 3-5 teams in the state. It will be a close battle if Ryle gets back to playing mistake-free ball.

Both teams have a great bunch of kids that work hard. That's what I love about high school football.

Congrats to CovCath on the running clock win. It's so funny that McPapa hit the score on the head (at halftime).

Congrats to Cooper on the upset win. They played a mistake free game other than the one pick on fourth down (that actually helped them with field position). The Jags deserved the win. Ryle had so many key mistakes and penalties they are hard to count starting with fumbling the opening kickoff. Best wishes to the Jags moving forward.

Can Dixie put together a great game and play turnover free football to keep things interesting into the 4Q? Seems unlikely but that would be nice. May the Dixie Hwy rivals come out improved and healthy.

Speaking of running clocks, I will look forward to hopping aboard the excuse train when SK gets RC'd Friday night.

I don't see Campbell stopping the Birds' offense at all. Only several Highlands turnovers could prevent a running clock outcome.

I would expect a battle going down to the last possession.

Ryle was a little flat between big games. Conner was overmatched badly but played hard. I'm sure Coach Rash will lead continuous improvement during the year. Conner has some nice skill players.

Congrats to Elder on beating a good CovCath squad. Sounds like a great effort fell a little short. The Colonels will be fine.

This is the first time I remember Senior Night at the first home game rather than the last. Boone is doing the same thing. I can see advantages of holding Senior Night early in the season.

I do believe that St X is highly motivated this year for 2 reasons: 1) Coach Wallace's last year; 2) the stunning running clock defeat at Ryle to end 2024 I don't see this game being close this year, especially with an uber talented player like Barber unable to play for BG. BG will put it together by playoff time. Who would be surprised if they hoisted another trophy?

Elder is an uphill battle and likely loss. Definite wins over SK and Dixie. Slight favorite over Beechwood in an emotional battle. I believe CovCath will win. Win over Central. Highlands is a tossup in an annual rivalry grudge match and now with district implications again. Host Cathedral, a traditionally strong opponent. This is a winnable game at home, but I know nothing about this year's Cathedral squad. Last two games - definite wins.

I assume Ryle will go pass heavy to work on that part of their game.

In another thread, TP94 posted that Elder's opponent last night was rated about the same as Simon Kenton. Elder would easily beat SK, and CovCath will have a fun night vs SK, too. I assume Elder wins, but it won't be easy.

Nothing about the game changed my mind that Ryle and CovCath are top 10 teams in the state overall. I'm sure both teams will continue to improve. CovCath's gauntlet 2-game start sees them at The Pit at Elder next week. I'm thinking that will be a good game. The Spirit that never Dies guys will have a great season.

Congrats to Ryle. Dylan Lee was fantastic with 2 key interceptions and Jacob Savage fought through cramps. Dameyn Anness is a blessing coming over from Ludlow to spell Savage at RB. Ryle controlled the LOS. Ryle needs to improve its passing game. Cash Harney is a stud. Savage is a great player. Cov Cath is definitely in the running to win 4A. Thanks to both teams and staffs for a great opening night.

Dylan leaned into the Ryle player who had stopped and flopped big time IMO. The ref did a good job not calling a fair catch violation penalty.
