The Beechwood Tigers travel 2.7 miles south on Dixie Highway to visit the Dixie Heights Colonels, game time 7:00 pm Friday night. The 2025 version of the Tigers played their first game this past Friday defeating Newport Central Catholic 53-6. The Colonels have two games under their belts and enter this game with an 0-2 record.

In their opener, the Beechwood offense picked up right where it left off in last year's state title run. New QB Emmett Queen was impressive going 10/10, 261 yards and 3 TD's. That debut is about as good as it gets. His fellow junior classmates WR Tyler Fryman and RB/WR Nathan Pabst put their blazing speed on display. Fryman scored four TD's - 2 receiving with one a 73 yarder, a 45 yard rushing TD and a 45 yard punt return. Pabst had two scores of his own - a 35 yard TD reception and a 3 yard TD run. The Tigers defense took a series to get into their groove but was impressive after New Cath's opening TD drive.

The Colonels are finding tough going in their first two contests. QB Mason Fields is trying to get it going with his WR's Parks Vonderhaar and Leo Wogenstahl. Jr. Brad Roaden is the starting RB.

Here is the series results since it restarted in 2019:

Oct 4, 2019 Beechwood 14 Dixie Heights 10
Oct 2, 2020 Dixie Heights 28 Beechwood 20
Oct 1, 2021 Beechwood 21 Dixie Heights 14
Sep 30, 2022 Beechwood 37 Dixie Heights 14
Sep 1, 2023 Beechwood 49 Dixie Heights 48 (overtime)
Sep 6, 2024 Beechwood 41 Dixie Heights 20

Can the Tigers make it five in a row over the Colonels? How do you see this game going?

Beechwood should win big.  But this is kind of a rivalry, so it will be closer due to that.  I expect a similar game to last year.

Beechwood will handle business.

Is this for the season or for this game week?

I need a Beechwood expert for that one.

Beechwood has always named captains for the season in previous years.

That is the way it was in the 80s.

This looks like it for the year as the post on twitter indicates nothing about it being for this week only.

Fryman and Queen being captains as Juniors seems like a big deal to me! I couldn’t tell you the last time a non-senior was named a Captain!

Can Dixie put together a great game and play turnover free football to keep things interesting into the 4Q? Seems unlikely but that would be nice. May the Dixie Hwy rivals come out improved and healthy.

The way Badin's offense was clicking against Dixie's defense, Dixie's offense will need to score north of 50 to be competitive in this one.

I saw somewhere that Fryman was clocked at 21 mph during last weeks game. Is that something Beechwood tracks?

I think it is 7-0 Beechwood.
