A great group, Fryman was the only player from this current team with a significant offensive role, and he's so much better of a player now. Cusick and Erdman were studs so I would take '24 receivers overall if Fryman is on both teams for comparison. Sowder's blocking and athleticism at TE is very underrated on this team, best TE at Beechwood in a long time. I'm taking Pabst/Wilson over Flaherty/Aylor at RB. And I'm taking Queen over Hayden (even though I think QB is closer than people would believe). Close competition though!

46th All-Time meeting for this rivalry game that is the epitome of the great things in HS Football. Cov Cath has a feeder school inside of Fort Mitchell that my family attended mass at growing up. Some of my best friends I played youth sports and spent every summer at pool with went to Cov Cath for HS. We swapped our friendships for hatred for 4 years before reuniting in college like nothing happened, LOL! The 2 communities are intertwined in so many ways; I think Kenton County and NKY in general doesn't get the respect it deserves from the rest of the State. So I have a lot of pride in the talent that will be on display this Friday. Dixie Highway is 5,786 miles of road and only 2 miles of that road separate these two Blue-Bloods of Kentucky Football. 26 combined State Titles. I hope that number is 28 after this season. In terms of offensive skill, I have never seen a Beechwood team this talented. But skill positions does not determine the winner of this game, it's in the trenches. Some of the best Beechwood Teams: '04, '07, '11, '20 and '23 lost this game but went on to win a state title (minus 2011, which was a massive injustice of the football Gods). I think Team '26 will be added to that list. Covington Catholic 35-27. Looking forward to another classic of a game and an electric atmosphere that's unrivaled across Northern Kentucky!

Some great games in here. 2023 vs Dixie is one of the most exciting regular season game this century for Beechwood. Up there with 2010 Double OT thriller vs NCC and the 1st ever night game at CCH in 2007 which I call, "The Robbery in Park Hills". Always fun to play against Dixie, lot of kids on both sides have played with or against each other their whole lives! Good luck to both teams tomorrow!!

Love having these streams, awesome production! It's great that they sync the play-by-play with the internet radio guys. The Radio team does an amazing job and really understands the game/players. And they always remain respectful to the kids and their opponents (while obviously and understandably being Beechwood Biased). Best in the business.

According to my memory, Highlands and Beechwood have only played twice this century. 09-10 and 10-11, both games were blowouts. Most years during the Mueller era, I don't think BW would've had much of a chance. Fun fact about that 09 game, UK coach ( I think it was Joker Phillips) was at that game to recruit Austin Collinsworth. Joker arrived to the game in style, by arriving in a helicopter and landing it on the Beechwood Baseball field.

I wasn't in the locker room or at the school everyday under Coach Volker, so I shouldn't speak too much on it. And I think Volker did a great job of upholding the tradition of winning football games and becoming more modern, which helped expose Beechwood players to high level college programs. Like I said before, people may call it silly and I know that Beechwood is not the Vatican of HS Football. But the decision to go back to Noel and after we see his replacement in however many years. Will tell you the overall feelings lifelong Tigers felt. And that Beechwood will not be hiring outside the Coach Yeagle/Coach Rash lineage anytime soon.

HaHa. I think that you're embellishing your little familiarity of Coach Rash if you're going to ask a question like that.. That is a major tradition of Beechwood Football. As a player in the early 2000's, we were not even allowed to wear black socks in practice. Many would call him "Old School". But it's all about maintaining a culture and tradition of excellence. Every player and coach are equally responsible to the teams overall success, no one is bigger than the Paw Print. I would expect and hope that some of the traditions that have been lost in recent years; make their return to the program. And hope that those black jerseys are donated or repurposed for a good cause!

Could be 5, could be 20 years. The next coach at BW will be identified early and molded for another successful transitions.

He was never supposed to stop coaching, but he retired as teacher at bw and then a chain reaction of events led to Rash taking an Admin job outside of bw district.. meaning he could no longer be the head coach at bw... hmmm sounds familiar...

The administration was not planning a cake and party hats for a going away party. Putting the school, coaching staff, and players in an uncertain atmosphere with practice 2 weeks away was something they wanted to avoid. The wheels started turning the day after the announcement, correct. I wish Coach Volker nothing but the best and thank him for his 4 years in tiger town. I am happy he found a situation that is beneficial to him and his family and he will do a great job at his next stop!

This did not all come together between now and the Enquire article dropping... Coach Volker did a good job and the kids loved him. I think this shows the seriousness and weight the authorities of BW expect out of being the head coach at BW. you're the face of the school and community on and off the field. Only 4 men have had the title of head coach in 50 storied years and 18 state titles, the one foot out the door is not going to fly. Welcome Home Coach Rash. COMMITMENT. SACRIFICE. BROTHERHOOD.

There was never any new football job for the fall of 2026.. You're right regarding different versions that will be said publicly. But you're not being lied too.

Highlands vs CCH is the better game and bigger rivalry from a on-field perspective. But there is not another game in all of NKY that has what the Beechwood vs Covington Catholic rivalry has. The closeness of these two communities and how they intertwine is everything great about HS Football! BW and CCH are similar in so many ways; but as a Tiger, it will always feel like David vs Goliath. I think the Goliath running game will be too much for the Tigers tonight. This looks like it for the year as the post on twitter indicates nothing about it being for this week only. Fryman and Queen being captains as Juniors seems like a big deal to me! I couldn’t tell you the last time a non-senior was named a Captain!

They didn’t use to be really good. They were fantastic. They had a 10 year stretch 2005-2015, they played in 7 State Championships, with a 4-3 record. One of the premier programs in the State of Kentucky. Legendary Beechwood Coach Noel Rash used to say that NCC was Beechwood’s biggest rival. (Due to being similar sized schools who used to be in the same District in 1A) Happy that both teams are playing again after a brief hiatus, but wish the game had the rivalry juice like it used to. Tigers pick the score tonight.

Amen! I could look like a fool myself. The Queen QB hype is REAL in the Fort at the moment; and the Pabst, Sowder, and Fryman 3-headed monster is giving Beechwood kindergarteners nightmare!! But we have yet to see the '25 Tigers lineup for a meaningful snap! Preseason Polls are often wrong.

A win against any top tier 5A team is impressive, especially BG! But the leaves on the trees are still green and the birds are still singing every morning. OC will be able to take their shot @ the Kings when winter comes!
