Trinity 42 Ryle 23 (6A State Championship)

The Ryle Raiders received the opening kickoff and got one first down before punting to Trinity.  After a partially blocked punt Trinity started on the Ryle 47 but went three and out.  Ryle marched 80 yards and scored the games first points with a 26 yard TD pass from Nathan Verax to Landon Lorms to make it 7-0 Ryle with 449 left in the first quarter.  After a quick three and out for Trinity, Verax hit Lorms for a long touchdown pass to put Ryle up 14-0 with 145 left in the 1st quarter. 

Ryle faked a punt and Jaden Galicia motored down to the Trinity 27 yard line to give the Raiders a chance to go up by three scores.  The Trinity defense stepped up and the Rocks took over on offense.  Trinity started on their own 32 and the drive culminated in a Jamaurion Berry 4 yard TD run to make it 14-7 Raiders with 508 left in the half.  Trinity stopped Ryle again and scored on a 30 yard TD pass from Zane Johnson to Mason Scherer with 149 left in the half to make it 14 all. 

Trinity received the second half kickoff and moved down the field until they fumbled the ball to Ryle on the Ryle 34.  The Raiders went 3 and out and punted right back to T.  Ryle scored next on a Gavin Moses 39 yard field goal to make it 17-14 Ryle with 417 left in the 3rd quarter.  Trinity answered with a Zane Johnson to Jason Hagan td pass to make it 21-14 Trinity with 135 left in the 3rd quarter. 

With 735 left in the game Trinity's Caleb Ricks intercepted Nathan Verax and took it to the house for a 28-17 Trinity lead. Jamaurion Berry scored on an 11 yard TD run with 326 left in the game to give the Shamrocks a 35 to 17 lead.  Bailey Vance added another pick six for Trinity bringing the score to 42-17 Rocks with 315 left in the game.  A long Dylan Lee run after catch set the Raiders up for a late touchdown.  Verax hit Lorms from three yards out to make it 42 to 23 Ryle with 103 left in the game.  The two point attempt was no good.   The Trinity Shamrocks are your 2024 Class 6A State Champions.

Hard to believe but looking back from the start of the 2nd quarter until 1:03 left to play had outscored Ryle 42-3 in that span.

Man. Ryle played so tough for 32 minutes but just couldn't sustain it. What an amazing season for the Raiders! They should be proud of what they have accomplished! 

Huge congrats to Trinity. I, along with many others, thought Ryle had a chance in this one but you proved why you are the best team in 6A! Kudos to you and enjoy another state championship.

It is hard to believe, a 42-3 run against Ryle, just wow.

Trinity since losing in the 2009 6A finals to St. X have now gone 10-0 in the finals out of the last 15. They have won now 29 titles out of 33 appearances. The announcers said that they are now 50-2 all-time vs. northern Kentucky teams. Some really impressive numbers to say the least!

I am assuming you meant 32 appearances and I absolutely agree. What Trinity has done, especially the last 15 years, is unmatched! They are the premier program in Kentucky and the train just rolls on!

Ryle came out and established the physicality of the game. Seems like Trinity was a little caught off guard to how big and fast Ryle was. Trinitys defensive line put pressure all night on Ryle and kept the qb scrambling. Trinity finally settled in and matched the physicality laying some big hits out there. Ryle made some crucial mistakes and Trinity capitalized and that’s what very good teams do. I feel like the tides turned after Ryle couldn’t capitalize on their fake punt. 
 

The final score does not indicate how close the game was for the majority of play. Very physical and tough fought game, enjoyed to watch. Congrats to the shamrocks and congrats to the Raiders on a heck of a season.

Down 14-0. Then down 17-14. Still kept coming. Really impressive win!  Congratulations!

For Ryle, really impressive how you took it T to start the game. You have a suoer players. Great season also!

Trinity physical play and numbers took its toll on Ryle who has a lot of 2 way players. You could tell about midway thru the 4th quarter that Ryle was gassed and the physical play was taking its toll.
