Ryle (9-2) will host Saint Xavier (7-4) after beating Pleasure Ridge Park 39-0. St. X is coming off a 48-13 win over Simon Kenton. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

St. X beat Ryle 31-24 back on 10/4 at St. X.

In the previous meeting Ryle had trouble stopping the St. X passing attack with St. X QB Mason Trimble throwing 227 yards and 2 touchdowns. RB/WR Marlon Harbin ran for 109 yards and 2 touchdowns. St. X RB. Manny Gray returned from injury against Simon Kenton and led in rushing with 124 yards and 1 touchdown. With Manny Gray now playing Marlon Harbin can play more reps at WR. The defense is led by LB Karsten Busch who has 56 tackles with 12 for a loss and 7 sacks.

The St. X defense against Ryle struggled to stop Ryle QB Nathan Verax who threw for 203 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 71 yards and 1 touchdown. RB Jacob Savage had 53 yards rushing and 41 receiving and 2 touchdown receptions. WR Dylan Lee had 137 yards receiving. The defense was led by LB Kai Workman with 13 tackles and LB Jacob Savage with 12.

St. X is 5-0 against Ryle since 2009 and this looks like could be another competitive game where Ryle will have a chance at breaking the St. X win streak especially playing at home. Unfortunately, one of these teams that are championship contenders will be ending their season. Will it be the Tigers or the Raiders with the early exit from the playoffs?

You know it's a big game if Courier-Journal HS reporter making the road trip to Ryle.

  • I may have posted this two weeks ago but Bowling Green cut X down to the size and this is Ryle's year. The only two outcomes I see are X wins small or Ryle wins small.  I can't wait to watch

  • Looks like mostly cloudy, 50 degrees, no wind to speak of, and dry.  In other words, perfect weather for high school football.

I think Ryle has a good shot at winning. I’m going with the Raiders. Good luck to both teams.

Expect a close hard-hitting affair in Union Friday night between two evenly matched teams. Whoever wins the turnover and big play battle will move into the 3rd round. Good luck to both squads with an extra lucky bounce here or there for the Raiders. Truly a toss up contest. Safe travels to our friends from St X.

The Tigers have much more big game experience . Ryle has much more incentive….. show the world that a Northern KY 6A school can defeat one of the Louisville big boys. Which will carry the night on Friday?

Ryle 22-21.

X rolls 34-21

What makes you think that, ESJ?

Should be a great environment for high school football on Friday night.

I know St. X won by a TD a month ago, but at one point they were 31-10… so we’ll see if that means anything.

Either way this should be a fun game early in the playoffs.

I remember when they were up 31-10 and went conservative running the ball to drain the clock which ultimately got the win but the 3 outs doing that allowed Ryle to make a comeback but they ran out of time.

Saw the first game. Ryle had trouble containing the speed of Marlon Harbin (109 yards rushing and 2 TDs)

Now, X has Manny Gray back at RB and gives them Harbin on the outside. Just too much speed for Ryle.
