What exactly did Schaefer hurt again?

Covington Catholic 43 Covington Holy Cross 39
+1 on that.

Tate Nichols From Ryle
What is his true size? I know what I have seen reported, but that doesn't seem quite right. How big is he really? Those offers are impressive. To get those, someone sees something worth building on. Congratulations goes out to him.

Rd. 3: Who's the next coach at Covington Catholic?
The rule of thumb I've heard is that you can tell what is top dog by looking at the facilities for the sports. By that measure, football is tops at CovCath.

Cov Cath @ Scott (2/14)
In Boone Cty Schools, they can play on a day when school is called off if both schools agree.

Cov Cath @ Scott (2/14)
There has been no word from CovCath and the only thing in the press from Kenton Cty Schools is no PM kindergarten (Insert your own joke here.)

Box score anyone????

Boone County 58 Covington Catholic 42
Very true on both points, especially true with the second. Another point, CovCath coach is always calling for patience to slow the game. Half court offense is a weakness this year. They should let them run more.

I'll go with 'or what'. That team doesn't believe it can win at this point. I guess I should not have been surprised, but I was by the lack of scoring by CovCath's big guys. If I am not mistaken, only two points.

Rd. 3: Who's the next coach at Covington Catholic?
I seriously hope that they don't wait until the 24th to make an announcement. With the way the basketball team's season is going, Spring football will begin pretty soon. That would not give a new coach much time to prepare. Since I hope a new coach will install a new offensive scheme, I think he's going to need all the prep he can get. I struggle to understand the delay. If they have someone in mind, they should go seek him out. If someone is interested, really interested in the challenge, I can't imagine him thinking he was going to wait til the last minute to apply. If someone is sitting on the fence, I don't want him. Time is wasting. If a new coach wants to see all the boys in conditioning he'd better hurry. With basketball, baseball, and track going on or beginning, the chance to see all the boys will be limited. Am I missing something? Is there a top candidate out there who can't commit today because of another obligation? Maybe he has to wait until after the SuperBowl is over?

Covington Catholic 74 Montgomery County 37
That, sir, is the million dollar question. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone can answer it. CovCath has been beaten up pretty badly this year both physically and mentally. I believe they are good kids who have it in them to step up and finish the season strong. They need some kids to get & stay healthy AND they needs some leaders on the team to step up and pull challenge them to finish stong.

Seeing some games a the begining of the year, I thought it was the former, but I saw the NewCath game when Maile wasn't there and I believe your leanings are correct. He is doing what he needs to do because no one else is. Was there a reason Isler didn't start?

Rumor has it that a group of football parents went in to see Rowe on Friday. Wonder what that was all about??

Who do you think will be the next Covington Catholic Coach?
So once they do decide on a new coach, what is the prognosis for next year. I believe Connaughten (sp?) was the only CovCath underclassman listed in the Enquirer all NKY. (He is a talented lineman) Anyone care to speculate what the new guy will do with what he finds in the cupboard? As an aside I understand there still is no oppenent for the first game??

Holmes 56 Covington Catholic 37
First observation about the game is that the most impressive thing about Holmes is the play of the Johnson boys. Lot's of talent and they play smart. I was surprised how shallow Holmes' bench was. Solid team, though. They deserve credit for the win. A few observations about CovCath: 1) At this point in a disappointing season, good turn out and support from the Crazies; 2) Thelen was the bright spot for the team last night. Earlier this week some here said that he was too soft. He was the ONLY one changing Pittman's game by putting a body on him. He took Pittman out of his game Only knock on Thelen last night is that he runs funny (joking!); 3) It's shocking how some of the CovCath players have disappeared during big games. The box scores for B'wood and Holmes are, well shocking. For them to win, it has to be a team effort; 4) Way too much criticism of Machinott here. Can anyone argue that if everyone on the team stepped up like he has done and improved his game this would be an entirely different team? I think somepeople should begin to focus some of their constructive critiques to some other players (my opinion); 5) Didn't see much impact of Coach Bradley last night, but he was taking lots of notes (and laughing at the Crazies). He can only help; 6) Good showing by Maile. At times it looks like he tries to do too much, but all in all Good Showing; 7) It's a shame the JV undefeated streak had to come to an end; 8) Counts deserves some positive recognition in this game. He has had rough season, has been moved into a different role, and as some have implied hasn't been too happy about it. In this game he did a good job in the role that he has been given. Less drama, more solid minutes. He deserves credit for that; 9) CovCath had some strange looking line ups at times. At one point I thought I saw some players looking a bit surprised as to who was out there.

Any updates on how Coach Shumate is feeling? Has he recovered from Friday? He looked terrible, I was getting pretty concerned about him.

CovCath Coaching Situation (Who is next?)
Interesting. In this whole drama from what I've witnessed, which is obviously not everything, a lot of people accusing others of personal agendas are ones with obvious personal agendas. Mr. Sticker, please don't take that as a personal attack. I am thinking of others who have made such claims. I recently spoke to a parent who blamed Brossart for the lack of collegiate interest in their son. The reality is their son, while a super nice kid who will do great things in life, is really not an exceptionally talented athlete. For the record I am not defending Brossart as a coach. There was plenty of things I disagreed with this seaon, like the fact CovCath never adjusted to anything in a game, ever. My objection is to the way this change has transpired and how some folks are trying, with obvious desperation, to rationalize thier behaviors. On another note, it was very amusing to see the line of people waiting to speak to the CovCath AD at tonite's basketball game. He was visibly uncomfortable. I overheard one man tell him, with a finger pointed to the chest, that he's made two mistakes and better not make another one. Funny how no one has commented on the quotes from the paper where the AD basically says on a Tuesday that this is so important that we are going to get right to searching for a new coach 'next week'. How about let's do it NOW. Instead of worrying about who was bringing drinks into the gym, he should have been lining up interviews or finding someone who knows what a good high school football coach looks like.

So where does CovCath go from here? What does/can Coach L do with the tools left in the tool box?

I will say there was one bright spot for CovCath; Maschinott played with confidence tonight. He was 2/2 FG and 2/2 3PT and he had a HUGE steal/interception late in the game to bring it close. Some have said he is not ready for prime time. To them I say he stepped up big tonight. Also, Coach Shumate did not look good at all tonght. He looked like the squad was going to come in at any moment in the 2d half. Anyone know how he's doing? Prayers with him tonight. Well coached team.
