Arie Slone from Western Hills (Frankfort) had a great Soph season at LB and should get better with an off season in the weight room. Slone has good size (6'2" and 200 lbs, but a frame to put on 20-30 more pounds)and a very good football IQ. Also exhibited toughness last season playing the entire season with a cast after breaking his thumb then his forefinger (which resulted in surgery to place 3 screws and a pin), but did not miss a play. Had 116 total tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 1 fumble recovery and 1 INT as a Soph.

Kal Prince duel threat QB from Owensboro, Zac Brown TE/OLB and Trey Cain Kicker for the Devils.

Prince had a good sophmore year leading the Devils to an 11-2 record and should be better with the addition of a few players and a year of experience under his belt.

Brown should be even better as well with a 6'3" frame and another year of conditioning and getting stronger he is going to be a beast on Defense.

Cain should be considered probably the best kicker in the state this year as he has proved to be a deadly weapon inside of 50 yards for the Devils the last 2 seasons and his kickoffs last year were mostly touchbacks.

Heard the kicker just got back from another combine in Orlando Florida and he is already kicking off the ground as he did last season which is a big plus for colleges to look at since he has already made the transition from the block that most players use all through high school.

Owensboro also has a few other players that could emerge as top players as well but did not get much varsity time last year.

Prince has good size, but I would not call him a dual threat QB. He has a long way to go in the throwing department. He is a running threat and a pretty good athlete.

I agree the kicker is very good.

Tanner Kendall of Monroe Co. had a soph year over 1100 yds rushing and 16 tds. Also one of the leading players in tackles at free safety. Holds school record for longest kickoff return at 97 yds. Had 3 tds and 127 yds rushing against GreenCo. in district championship game also had 2 tds and 155 yds rushing against Fort Campbell in state semi final game. Had best games against best teams played. Was not caught from behind all year and also has great closing speed just ask Taylor Co. tailback he caught from around 20 yds back. With weight training look for him and rest of the Falcons to have another solid year in 09.

St X has some talent in their upcoming Junior class. At the top of the talent train would be Daylen Hall and Devonte Beech. Murray an Hayden are exceptional running backs and if they ever consider the pass they have a QB who can do the job.

Dylon Smith from Harlan County has potential. He's been playing WR may see some time at RB this year and is pretty good in the secondary. Not the biggest kid on the field but will hit with everything he's got.

:lol::lol::lol: I enjoyed the highlighted portion of the last sentence.

From the St. Matthews Catholic point of view, I see QB Brad Kragthorpe earning the keys to the high powered offensive machine. One of his primary weapons will be Darick Nix, an all-purpose back who can line up anywhere in the offensive backfield and become a threat. Lineman Will Flynn appears ready to take a huge step on the varsity level. DB Clayton Meyer thoroughly enjoys hitting folks and will be a huge asset in the defensive backfield in 2009.:thumb:

The DRIVE for FIVE has begun at Rock Heaven in the weight room.
