Anyone that is familiar with football in the 'ville knows that DeMarcus Smith(Seneca) and Jon Davis(Eastern) are two of the premiere players in the area. Both have received an offer from Illinois. DeMarcus has exceptional talent at QB. He has a cannon for an arm and escapability. He makes Seneca very dangerous. Jon is the real deal. He is 6'4'' and 220lbs. He plays a hybrid wing/wr position on offense and lb/s position on defense. He returns punts and plays back up QB. He has had inquiries from UL, UCLA, UK, TENN, VANDY,and ND just to mention a few. Jon plays on 21-1 basketball team and was named 2nd team all-state on offense(WR). He carries a 3.4 in Eastern's AP program. He scored 2 TDs vs. Male while being guarded exclusively by Illinois signee Justin Green. These two will be fun to watch for the next two years.

Tanner Kendall of Monroe Co. had a soph year over 1100 yds rushing and 16 tds. Also one of the leading players in tackles at free safety. Holds school record for longest kickoff return at 97 yds. Had 3 tds and 127 yds rushing against GreenCo. in district championship game also had 2 tds and 155 yds rushing against Fort Campbell in state semi final game. Had best games against best teams played. Was not caught from behind all year and also has great closing speed just ask Taylor Co. tailback he caught from around 20 yds back. With weight training look for him and rest of the Falcons to have another solid year in 09.

Tanner is a great athlete that has potential to get even better. For him to do what he did this year as a sophomore is very impressive, I look for him to have another great year and maybe break a few MC records along the way…

What about from Cov. Cath.. Anyone worth watching?

I think Seth Chappie from Lloyd will have a break out year. After being over shadowed for two years behind Seydrick Walker, Chappie will be the star in the Lloyd backfield for the 2009 season. IMO he'll have easily over 1300 all purpose yards, considering he'll return kicks/punts, plus catching the ball out of the backfield.

What about from Cov. Cath.. Anyone worth watching?

Caleb Watkins and Ryan Fritts of Corbin both should be 1000 yard backs if not more.

Corey Lyle from Greenup could have a huge year in a new run oriented offense.

Dominic Carton of Bell County. Should be the feature back next year. 588 yards on just 64 carries (split carries with 4 other backs, sat out first 2 games with injury) averaged 9.1 yards per carry, 6 TDs

 

John Dudley Hilton from Bell Co. also. I beleive 123 total tackles on the year, not sure on int or fumble numbers. 14 receptions, 293 yards and 6 TDs on the year at tight end.

Who was the sophomore running back from Boone that had some good games at the end of the year and in the playoffs in the place of their starting back because of an injury? Will they both be in the back field next year at the same time?
