Okay, let's run with this. 1) I don't have to know someone or make any assumption of intent to recognize a classless action. A classless act is a classless act regardless of why someone did it. 2) How can that act be seen as anything other than a disrespectful act toward the CovCath basketball organization? 3) The LexCath coach did a very good job with X's and O's last night. I do not know anything else about him other than what I witnessed last night. I don't know if condoned the young man's actions or not. You seem to assume he did. I hope that is not the case. 4) I can't understand 80% of the Crazies' cheers in that gym. If they did say something out of line, I'd bet hard cash that Bob Rowe spoke to the student leaders about it. I don't excuse any inappropriate behavior by young men who know better, but there is a difference between a 'mob' and a young man wearing the uniform of a Catholic institution standing infront of his own coaches. But as I said, I don't exuse either bad behavior and neither should anyone else associated with these two schools.

Don't be silly, of course he was being disrespectful. Why else would he have after being introduced, run to center court and bent over pretending to sign the CovCath logo? Coming from some schools I would not have been too surprised, but I thought LexCath had more class than that. I believe had that been a CovCath player on another teams court, the kid would have spent the first half in the locker room. Regarding the game. Lots of positives in this loss against a very good LexCath team. Shooting was poor pretty much all the way around, but they played better as a team.

Kelsey Sorrell Memorial Basketball Tournament
25 is Trevor Wellbrock. Three observations on CovCath: 1) Mr. Wellbrock has obviously spent time working on his free throw shooting. Very impressive. 2) I was a bit concerned about Mr. Thelan's play during the Blue/White, but he dispelled any and all concerns on Saturday. He had a very good showing. 3) Mr Klien and Mr. Evans are going to be great additions to this team. Very exciting.

Yes, she truly was. Her spirit still lives on. Watch and you will still see CovCath players with 'KS' wrist bands.

Highlands being un-sportsmanslike? When has that ever hap.....nevermind.

....but was he talking back to you?

You are right about the QB. I am very surprised the officials let him come back into the game. It was clear he was knocked out laying on the sideline. I guess if the official was not capable of seeing a two handed shove pass interference call right in front of him we should not expect him to see an unconscious kid laying on the field. One other point, the mountain air help CovCath's punt game. Those were some of the nicest boots of the year.

Covington Catholic/Johnson Central Predictions
Is that score for a particular quarter or is that you final??

Covington Catholic/Johnson Central Predictions
Interesting. I went back to look at the final predictions for this game in the 2d round last year and it was JC 63% vs CCH 37%. As of this posting, it is almost the exact opposite. Not as many folks have posted yet as did by game time last year obviously. Nevertheless, I believe that speaks to the optimism in the program now.

Highlands 14 Covington Catholic 8 (Frosh)
Agreed. The play calling did not help the Colonels. I also thought the Shumate kid played very well last night. He kept contain better than the big boys do. He's also not afraid to hit anyone.

Beat Highlands/Beat CovCath
So I suppose a 'Beat Highlands' tatoo be out on a middle aged man, then? That is probably one of the few things I feel passionate enough about to have permanently marked on my body and now you guys tell me its wrong. I can't have any fun.

If you are a CovCath/NDA fan, you have a busy week ahead of you!
Thursday is a no-brainer. Any chance to cheer a CCH football team against Highlands, I am there.

Thanks OG, you are, again, a wealth of information. Can you help me figure out how to be in two places at the same time on Friday?

Cov Cath 28 - New Cath 14 Not the prettiest game for the Colonels, but a good win. Some very good individual performances by some young men. Best, Connoughton, Shaefer, Gray, Erp, Daeglow New Cath is tough as nails and those boys never let up.

Why in the world did NCC throw the ball in their last two series? CCHS was really struggling to stop the run.

I heard a rumor that Zumdick was injured. True? Serious?

CovCath Radio, I listened to your broadcast today. You guys did a great job, as usual. I need to find a way to listen to you while I am at the game. Thank you for time you put into this. I for one appreciate it.

Very, very impressive showing by Llyod. Great job kids.

Thoughts on Increased Number of State Track Meet Qualifiers
Watered down in terms of talent? Seems to me by giving the 'at large' you get the good kids who might not have done well in the Regions (injury, illness, too many events...) Watered down in terms of too many kids? There you have a point. On the track you can run them eight at a time, but in the field events, everyone gets their jumps & throws. THat is going to take some time.

CovCath 09/10 Basketball Schedule
So is anyone willing to make any predictions with this schedule? IMO, it will all depend on how stuck CovCath is on the the down temp half court game they ran this year. I don't think next year's team will have many kids who feel they have to take the team on their shoulders so Coach L should let them run.

2009 Covington Catholic
Ryan Ernst's 'The List' with new CovCath Coach Dave Wirth. http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20090413/SPT030201/904130371/ His first item: 'Change the players' mindset and how they work. They've always worked hard, but they needed to work better and correct their mental approach.' His others are good, but this one will be the key to CovCath's success next year. Last year's team was far more talented than they displayed on the field, and one of the biggest obstacles to their success was in fact their mental approach to the game. While they did lose some talented players to graduation, or will lose, the team next year should have just as much talent, overall, and if Coach Wirth is successful with just this one item on his list, the Colonels should be fun to watch next year.
