For those new to BGP's you really need to go back and do a search for the first CovCath vs. Johnson Central threads dating back to Nov 2006.

It wouldn't hurt either to search for the CovCath vs. LexCath thread the week prior, to get a good idea of how this new rivalry and friendship began!

JC fans I am really looking forward to our return trip to Johnsonville, see you all Friday!

Let the fun began! :thumb:

I predict a high-scoring affair. After watching the success Woodford had running their fullback out of the wildcat formation, I'm concerned.

I think Cov. Catholic squeaks by. I really thought Cov. Catholic would have handled Woodford Co. in a much easier fashion yesterday. That doesn't bode well for them when you realize Woodford only beat Montgomery Co. by 6. If JC's defensive effort against Scott is an accurate barometer then Cov. Catholic should be ok.

That was some good reading!

This could redefine "high scoring", if the preliminary games were accurate and the weather holds. If Scott can score 41 on JC, who knows how many CovCath might generate (They beat Scott 56-14)?? CCH however, seems to give up some points as well. Both might hit the 60's, but I like CovCath in a close, high scoring affair. I'll say 64-56.

Whoa!!!!!!:scared:That's some scoring right there my friend!!!!

This is going to be the longest 4 1/2 days of work in a long time. I can't wait to get down to Johnsonville to see my good friends again and experience high school football like the good Lord intended. Don't judge our friendship on how the Colonels are going to treat the Golden Eagles. It's our turn boys!

That wildcat was certainly doing a lot of damage. I personally don't know why Woodford ever pulled out of it. I expect to see some kind of a similar look out of Johnson Central.

As surprising as the Cov Cath/Woodford score was to me (Cov Cath really seemed to just come out flat and play complacently), I was equally surprised by the Johnson Central/Scott score. However, supposing J.C. was keeping a good portion of players on the sidelines to rest for Cov Cath, then I think my Colonels will have their work cut out for them on Friday.

Let's say 39-36 Cov Cath.

I share the sentiments expressed about the hospitality of the folks at Johnson Central. I made the trek from Park Hills to Paintsville in 2006. An A+++ job hosting the event. As for this year...I am a little less optimistic than my brethern about the Colonels' prospects. After the Dixie, St. X and Woodford County performances I am concerned that Cov. Cath. will be unable to slow down Johnson Central enough for the Colonel offense to stay in its natural ryhthm. My heart is with the Colonels but my head says J.C. by 10-14 points.

There's something odd going on with the Cov Cath helmets.... :D

You beat me to it. And the numbers are backwards. Pretty weird.

I see a few keys to this game in order for Cov Cath to come out on top. On offense, they need to spread the ball around and not just 'lock on' to 1 or 2 receivers. When they have done this in the past, not only does it make the passing game more effective, but it also opens up the running game.

Defensively, they need to get tougher up the middle. They have unfortunately had some unexpected personnel changes up the middle on D, and hopefully with another full week of practice they can improve this area.
