C6H0-83 Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 With the positive support returning to the program, and more of a HS instead of a NFL schedule (though still one of the toughest in N KY with LaSalle, Ryle, Highlands, Lex Cath and Lou St X) things should be greatly improved. If defense can match what should be a pretty decent offense, they should be a very tough game for everyone.
melikebb Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 With Coach Worth entering the CCH football program, he should have those young men working hard and ready to return to dominance as they were 3 and 4 years ago. Coach Worth even brought back Coach Ray in the program.
jbwill2 Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Who will be the major contributors this year? They will have a new starting QB, since last year's starter graduated. They also lost their best player from last year to graduation, Van Sant. How about their starting RB and WRs from last year?
ColonelCrazy Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 I don't know much about the personnel, but I expect Cov Cath to be much better than last year. Coach Wirth has brought some excitement back to the program. Coach Ray is coaching the linebackers and is very excited to be doing that, from what I gather. Coach Wirth is in the later stages of putting his staff together; however, from all accounts, I have been impressed with his selections. The O-Coordinator is from Moeller. The O-line coach is going to be a certain big guy from CCH. Brayden Erpenbeck is expected to be the starting quarterback. Not as much of a pure passer as Isler, but from what a freshman coach has told me, Wirth's offense will implement somewhat of an option type offense and allow him to run some. We'll see. I'm sure there are others who know much more about it than myself. Not sure why they have not chimed in yet.
Bad Bill Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 You can read a detailed interview with Coach Wirth in the April issue of "Inside Your Town" newsmagazine that will be delivered this weekend. In the interview he states that Erpenbeck has the potential to throw for 2,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards next season. He's also very excited about the offensive line and said he has two outstanding wide receivers.

If they do that they will immediately be in the hunt for a title. Right now I don't see them beating Highlands for a year or two.

I have talked to a couple of parents and players and have all said the same thing;FUN. I have also been told that they are getting great senior leadership.

If the Colonels cannot beat Highlands for a year or two then another title will just have to be a year or two away. Yankees vs. Red Sox, Ohio State vs. Michigan, Cov Cath vs. Highlands... some rivalries were just meant to be. I would rather win fewer titles than win by having to duck the Bluebirds in the playoffs. Besides, if we couldn't grind our teeth at Dale Mueller what would we do to keep ourselves occupied in the fall?? :D
