I help film in place of ram95 who couldn't be there, and I don't know that ram2003 went to the game (if he did I didn't see him). So even if you had made it you probably wouldn't have seen us.

They did have it... but then they gave it away. Very close game the whole way through. It looked as if Manual was trying to avoid the Central front by throwing a lot of swing passes and airing it our early, however Manual's receivers dropped balls left and right all night long. Manual looked like they were in control late in the second quarter with a 13-0 lead but a half ended TD run put the Jackets back into the game. Central score three long TD around the right hand side, looked like Manual needed to work on pursuit angles. Central had a 28-26 lead late into the 4th quarter when the Central long snapper flew the ball over the punters head resulting in a Manual TD and 2pt conversion to go ahead 34-28. Very close game that Central gave away with turnovers, the two teams looked very evenly matched and both will probably have very successful seasons. Manual Defense gave up long TD's for the wrong reasons but otherwise played pretty good. They made up for TD's by causing the turnovers that allowed Manual to get back into the game. Given a little more time to jell and paying attention in practice and I think this could be a very good physical Manual defense later in the season. The Manual offense has to catch the simple passes or they will find themselves in trouble in big games. RB D.J. Hawk looked good today, I don't know what his stats were but he carried the team. I would like to see a few more weapons emerge from the Manual offense.

It sounded like Manual looked okay in the Southern scrimmage, but I don't know how to gauge Southern's ability. I want to go on the record as saying that Manual has to many holes to fill this season to make me believe that they are currently the #3 team in 6A. That doesn't mean I don't think they can get to that level but, I think at #3 in the beginning of this season that they are overrated. (I still love ya Rams) I firmly believe that Manual can lose this game yet still be a major player in 6A as the squad gets more experience through the season. Last season this was a very sluggish game where the heat seemed to take alot out of both teams. With better weather I expect a better game where we get to see the better sides of both squads. This is a very tough match up for the Rams. Centrals defense will make running up the middle very difficult, they will have to find success spreading the ball on the right and left ends. One thing to watch this season is that Nichols is now calling the offensive plays. I don't know what to expect out of this arraignment as I always knew him as a defensive guy, so this will be interesting. Defensively I expect Manual to be strong against the run, they need to show they can stop the pass.

I'm a little surprised by this outcome. I hadn't heard a lot of confidence coming out of the Male camp this preseason.

What are the rules for water breaks? I didn't play all that long ago, late 90's, but three water breaks for a 1 1/2 hour practice seemed like more than we would get.

It's worth mentioning that Holy Cross is a 1A school and Southern is a 6A school. Other than the leadership question I would fully expect Southern to be dominate in all the other areas.

I'm going to question this being Redman has been quoted as saying that he treats non district games as scrimmages. If he treats regular season games as scrimmages why would he treat his scrimmages more intensely?

113 WOW. At any given point of the game there will be ten players on the bench for every player on the field. And yet Glaser complains when a Catholic kid goes to a public school.

I guess I could put this on any of the rankings threads but I'll put it here. It is much much easier for me or anyone else to sit here and criticize the ranking with out producing my own. The job of scouting reviewing and placing these teams has to be a tremendous challenge. As much as I or anyone wants to complain about any of these rankings I want the people involved with ranking these teams to understand that I appreciate the job that they have done, and further more appreciate that they will sit around and take accountability for the rankings they make, you don't get that often.

I am curious to hear the explanation of Belfry over Central. Central will be loaded and have faced four of the toughest in the state by the end of the season with St X, Highlands, Male, and Manual. I can't believe Belfry has the same talent nor will they have played anyone the caliber of the four teams mentioned.

Manual lost a lot of key players from last season. I'm not close enough to the team to know the personnel replacing those players but I'll be pleased if they can be as strong a team as last season. I have great appreciation for what this type of ranking says about the program Nichols has made, I hope they can match those expectations, but I have serious doubts that they are the #3 team in 6A.

If we could get a link, that would be great. While everyone wants to pound on the rankings right now, I did feel that the final rankings were pretty good at the end of the season. I do question how they are able to gather roster info from every team in the nation. I would also think those issues have a lot to do with why team A is ahead of team B.

On occasion I've listened to both St X and Trinity coverage on the radio. To say the least I'm not a big fan of the homer-ism. Not so much because they support their teams but because they often project negatively upon their opponents, often suggesting unsportsmanlike behavior and emphasizing the negative aspects of the opponent with little self criticism, it leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.

I love my Crimsons but Manual will have a lot of reloading to do. Maybe they end up near the top, but I'm expecting a bit of a drop from last season.

Thats what I'm saying will happen. The seven men on the line rule and the ineligible number rule has a purpose. The purpose is to keep the standard football system in place. This A-11 system has just used the rules to get around the purpose, I strongly believe this will get reviewed and the system will get outlawed.

Here is where I see the problem, they clearly are taking advantage of the rule made for kicking. I'd be surprised if rules committees don't simply close the loophole, and to be honest I'm not sure this loophole necessarily exist in all states.

ditto I think the reason is to jump off the pages to sports writers and college scouts, although both these groups expect it when they see it.

Let me say this though. I graduated in 1999, I played offensive line in probably the toughest district in Louisville (St X Male Fern Creek) as a senior I was 6-2 240lbs and I was bigger than most people I played against. Now I'm reading about 3A teams that have multiple 250+ that is really eye opening to me. The difference is big but the amount of years is not.
