Terrible to hear. I hope they are both okay.

I'm not a PRP supporter, I couldn't even tell you where the school is located, but the collapsing part must have been from the heat and not being in shape. Not the amount of water breaks.

3 water breaks in an hour and a half is one water break every 30 minutes. You've got to figure the water breaks lasted 5-10 minutes each. That means the kids got fluids every 20 to 25 minutes. Thats not that long at all in between breaks and unless the kids chose not to drink on the breaks, they should have had plenty of fluids in their system.

What are the rules for water breaks?

I didn't play all that long ago, late 90's, but three water breaks for a 1 1/2 hour practice seemed like more than we would get.

I was thinking the same thing. I played in 2003 and don't remember getting that many water breaks during a practice.

Seems like we got one half way through the practice. Then at the end of practice right before we started running.

I believe with the index at 94 (which according to the paper, it was), a suggested break every 30 minutes is to be given, with each break being 10 minutes in length.

It's located in PRP (Pleasure Ridge Park)....

Seriously though this is definately not good news. Three water breaks is a travesty from coaches who are losing perspective that these are just kids out there. Don't baby them...but DEFINATELY don't torture them.

I hope the kids recover fully, but 3 water breaks in 1.5 hours seems very reasonable.

It's terrible that it happened and I hope they are both okay and able to play this year.

As I said earlier though. If they had three breaks in 1 and a half hours, thats a break every 30 minutes. If the breaks lasted 10 minutes each, the two players had a chance to get some fluids every 20 minutes. That seems like plenty to me.

You never know what kind of practice the players were going through though.

Is this the index that coaches and officials use in the regular season as well? Also is the course of action for each index what is mandated by the KHSAA?

I had not heard about the PRP players. Is one still in the ICU? Are they O.K?

It says that they had three water breaks during the hour and thirty minute practice . That sounds more than enough . It does not say how many sprints they had run when this happened . One , ten , twenty ,fifty ? Also and I may be wrong but I would think that a seventeen senior year old wide receiver /defensive back the player that recovered would be in somewhat better shape that a fifteen year old sophomore offensive lineman , the student still in the hospital . I hope and pray that the young man recovers completely .

Thoughts and Prayers for this young man and his family, any updates on him?

I agree.

Enough about the water breaks, how are the young men??????

My thoughts and prayers are with the young men and their families. I hope that they fully recover and are back to action really soon.
