Heard this one was a classic.

How much extra time would it take for sports physicals to actually examine kids for this kind of condition? My heart breaks for his family, friends and that community. Enlarged hearts are the scariest things in sports right now, I'm worried about each kid that plays sports because when tragedies like these happen, it's not like people even knew a problem existed.

Is this kid a high major D1 talent?

Congrats to Rowan, they have a really nice team this year. WC had a great season, they just ran into a really good team. It's sad that WC couldn't go farther in the tourney, I think they're at worst the 4th best team in the region.

While WC is small, remember they are a 3A school. All-A tourney has a certain cutoff for the smallest number of schools in the state.

I really only follow the 16th. I enjoy keeping track of what's going on in the 10th, 11th regions as well. I also like regions 6 and 7 because they are so deep, but I don't really get a chance to follow what goes on down there much.

I was just thinking about the last thread about LC and Coach Hampton. No doubt I would think most teams would probably want to draw Boyd though. :thumb:

What is your problem with Coach Hampton and the Lions? I guarantee the winner of Rowan/West will not be overlooking them if LC beats BC.

West v. Rowan is going to be awesome.

Why would this even be a problem? And would this be along the same lines of thinking as when only the two top teams in a district made the playoffs in football?

Tough loss for West Carter, end of the game kind of reminded me of the WC-EC Final from my senior year. I said to my friends at halftime that if we had not been looking at the scoreboard we would have thought West was up by 10-15 points. They played lights out in the first half, and played pretty well in the 2nd IMO. I thought the difference in the game was Elliott on the boards, and the fact that Timmy Knipp is next to impossible to stop from going to the basket. If he would only drive to the hole instead of shooting deep threes I think he could average 40 points a game. He's a good shooter but he's impossible to stop going to the hole. Congrats to Elliott on the win. They fought through alot of adversity tonight and got a win on the "road" to win the district championship. WC needs to keep their heads up, they will have a chance to beat anyone at Morehead if they play like they did for most of the night. I would also be remiss if I did not give a shout-out to Aaron Rayburn and Harrison Bond tonight, I thought they both played great overall games. This was one of those games that really could have gone either way. It's kind of a shame that this one did not make overtime.

School size has nothing to do with the type of athletes they have. Tyler Clark and a few others have been really good basketball players for Lewis but when was the last time they have had the type of athletes that have came through many of those schools you mentioned?

10 wins and 11 losses is not that bad when you consider Lewis is not a basketball power house. Year in and year out I would think they are probably always in the lower half of teams in the region in overall talent. Which year since 2002 has Lewis disappointed you in March? To me they have always lived up to expectations at a minimum, and often surpass them.

He was called Mr. March way before the runner-up finish. His teams, no matter how talented or untalented are always ready to play in the district and regional tourney. Ask anyone in the 62nd if they miss having to play Hampton in the tourney. When you look at the talent Lewis has year in and year out I don't see how anyone could rank Hampton outside the top 5 coaches in the region. I'd honestly put him 2nd only to Brandon Baker, but that's JMO. I actually do miss Lewis being in the 62nd, it was the best tourney around the 16th IMO when you consider the atmosphere the games used to have and how competitive they were. Elliott's wonder years and Morgan coming in and really falling off have hurt the tourney, but I do still feel that it is the best in the region to go and watch.

That's about what I thought. They have a bright future IMO. And let me say this I thought the sportsmanship was very good from both teams on the floor. When Waddell hit the McKenzie kid with a hard foul that resulted in an intentional, I thought it was great that they pretty much instantly shook hands and went on.

I was in the house for this one. Tough year for the Rams, but I thought they played really hard tonight and sometimes that just has to be enough IMO. Russell has a really nice team, they seem young though. Are they pretty young?

He seems to feel like QB is where he's going to be recruited based on the articles I've read. I guess that is up for debate, but he talked about Hoke telling him about playing QB in a pro-style offense. From Pike's quotes he definitely sees himself as a QB.

I believe you need an account for that article. If you do and don't have one it basically says: -He has no favorite but would like to pick a school before the season starts -Michigan, Miami and FSU just offered. He seems to really like Brady Hoke. -Purdue was his first offer. Also mentions being interested in Oklahoma State and Iowa.

I believe they play way above their talent level. I think the 16th region has some really good basketball coaches, but I believe that East has the best in Baker. I guess it didn't matter too much against Highlands, but EC is way better this year than I would have though considering all they have lost from last year.

I'll be honest with you if you're from out of region and you go to a 16th region team, I don't think you're going to like the calls and I'm not usually one that is going to have too much of a gripe about officials. I've seen it and experienced it when I played and to be honest didn't feel like that when our team went out of region to play a team. Maybe it's just a coincidence or it just seemed that way, but I do think some of the 16th region refs definitely take care of their own. JMO

I'll just stop at saying that I feel there are many better referees in the 16th. Actually I think just about any of them are. JMO. I think he usually is. Maybe the region coaches want the rest of the state to have to experience the "best" that the 16th has to offer?

I hate when teams in an area decide not to play a team. If I have a powerhouse in my area, I would desperately want to play them if I'm a player, coach or fan. See how you measure up and try to improve. As for Trinity, their success will only continue to move them up the ladder in terms of becoming a regional powerhouse. I, for one, hope they get there.

Wasn't a big Avenged Sevenfold fan until I saw them in Lexington a few weeks ago, via a free ticket. There latest CD wasn't bad.
