Lewis County will play Russell on Friday in 63rd District Championship

Game happened exactly like everybody said it would: Most talented team would lose due to being outcoached and outhustled. Congrats to Coach Hampton and the Lions, should be a great game Friday!

And that may be one of the strangest games I've ever been to. Pop bottle thrown out of the stands after a terrible call against Greenup (and yes, it was awful but that's no excuse). Horn blows in the middle of play and the kids all stand there. So do the officials and Williams rips the ball out and goes down and gets hammered at the basket, all to no avail. Greenup fan stands up and yells at the head coach and then begins to scream at Dunaway for hiring him. Just a wierd basketball atmosphere. More like a circus. Congratulations to Lewis Co on another regional appearance.

Do you know why Reggie Jackson is called Mr. October? Because his teams won the championships. They didn't finish as runnerup one time his team won the big one.

Time the "like sands through the hourglass........" image is brought in. This was a promising group of seniors, some quit prior to the season, at GC. I'll never figure why they don't want better in Lloyd............oh well.

This group of seniors had some high expectations when they were younger, it never really panned out for them. Not to mention having 4 different coaches.

I'm not anywhere close to knowing what is going on at Greenup. But as an outsider looking in, what decent coach would even consider the Greenup job???

What is so wrong at Greenup? Is the school system big? How is the area to live in,etc.? Have no idea, also as an outsider, but they are always having problems there it seems. Anyone know?

Perhaps the, "four coaches in four years", problem is not the coaches fault. Sounds like it is the schools fault ? I don't know the kids but I would not wish that on any young man.

He was called Mr. March way before the runner-up finish. His teams, no matter how talented or untalented are always ready to play in the district and regional tourney. Ask anyone in the 62nd if they miss having to play Hampton in the tourney. When you look at the talent Lewis has year in and year out I don't see how anyone could rank Hampton outside the top 5 coaches in the region. I'd honestly put him 2nd only to Brandon Baker, but that's JMO.

I actually do miss Lewis being in the 62nd, it was the best tourney around the 16th IMO when you consider the atmosphere the games used to have and how competitive they were. Elliott's wonder years and Morgan coming in and really falling off have hurt the tourney, but I do still feel that it is the best in the region to go and watch.

So they started calling him Mr. March before he actually accomplished anything? So is this one of those nicknames like when they call a large person "tiny"?

 

In my opinion Baker is the second best coach in his county.

I did alittle research on Mr. March. Since 2002-2003 Mr. March has a record in March of 10 wins 11 losses. During this period he has 2 district championships and 0 regional championships. Before his runnerup finish 2 years ago his record was 5-7. So please tell me again why he is called "Mr. March".

I was told his fellow 16th region coaches began calling him this.
