Franklin County was without 2 of there top 6 due to injury and illness as well. Blake Reed had 40 for Bracken. Franklin was led in scoring by Zac Cox with 23 all coming in the second half. Very intense and entertaining high school basketball game.

You can't just do what you want all the time and think you're going to get away with it. We all have rules we have to follow. At some point asking for forgiveness instead of permission runs out.

Thats 6 region titles in 8 years for Coach Thacker and the Lady Flyers. Pretty impressive stat for a school outside of Fayette County in the 11th Region.

Catholic is really good. Better then people think. This is more of a traditional Lexington Catholic team from the Coach Haney days. They don’t have a go to guy like they’ve had with the Johnson brothers the last decade. They have a good big, a solid point in Gohman who is a flat out winner and some good shooters on the perimeter. They are plying true team basketball. They are the early favorite in the 11th in my opinion.

I think the original plan was for most of those kids to return but I do know that changed. A couple of them, the Sherrard brothers to be exact, are playing college football at Kentucky Wesleyan. The updated roster on KHSAA doesnt list any of those kids from last year being on the team this season. Who really knows though. Either way I dont think Ashland will struggle with them.

I'm pretty sure Mason County has had some transfers in recent years. Either way these two should play every year regardless.

This is a GREAT question. By the looks of GRC's schedule I dont see them "ducking" anyone. Its just hard to believe that Coach Kirk and Coach Cook couldnt make this happen!!!

Coach Chalk RETIRED not resigned. It was reported he resigned by a local media member and that is incorrect. He retired from teaching 2 years ago but remained in coaching. He has now retired from coaching as well. No underhanded issues or any shady dealings. He will remain working with the KABC.

Well if you look at the regular season results, Dunbar beat Douglass, Douglass beat Central, and Central beat Dunbar. So who really knows. Also, Franklin County didnt play any of the other 3 teams. I think an argument can be made that PLD is playing just a little better the last few weeks then the rest.

We have finally made it to the best time of the year!! Its region tournament week in Kentucky. As always the 11th Region is STACKED with teams looking to compete for not only a region crown but the state championship as well. Lets check out the schedule and give some predictions for the week. 11th REGION TOURNAMENT BRACKET Frederick Douglass (17-1) vs. Madison Southern (11-11) Paul Laurence Dunbar (12-5) vs. Frankfort (16-7) Franklin County (14-9) vs. Henry Clay (12-7) Madison Central (18-9) vs. Lexington Catholic (20-2) Frederick Douglass (17-1) vs. Madison Southern (11-11) On paper this seems like no contest as Frederick Douglass should be heavily favored over Madison Southern. However, don't count the Eagles out. Madison Southern will be as prepared if not more then any team in the region Coach Newton does an outstanding job with the players he has regardless of matchups. Senior Trent DeVries has had an outstanding season for Madison Southern averaging 17.6 points per game along with sophomore Jay Rose who has chipped in 12.6 points per game. Madison Southern is a streaky shooting team but have shown they can get hot quickly in a hurry from deep. I think its going to take that to hold off Douglass. Frederick Douglass has had an outstanding season and for some reason not many have talked about this 17-1 team. The only loss was to Paul Laurence Dunbar in a game the Broncos led by 17 in the 3rd quarter. Its hard to list a 17-1 team as a "sleeper" but thats kind of the vibe you get anywhere outside of Lexington. FDHS has been led all year by senior All State guard DaShawn Jackson and his 21.9 points per game along with Tyson Barrett and a host of other athletes that come at you in waves. This team is good enough to play with and beat anyone in the state and it is going to take a lot to beat them this season. Paul Laurence Dunbar (12-5) vs. Frankfort (16-7) Frankfort did themselves no favors by losing in the finals of the 41st district tournament. When you come out of the 41st as a loser there is no "good draw" with the teams left. The Panthers happened to come across the hottest team in the region in Paul Laurence Dunbar. Frankfort has had an outstanding season with some impressive wins. Big man Jackson Twombly has put up solid numbers averaging 26 points and 9 rebounds per contest. Guards Blythe and Hack have put up solid shooting numbers and are going to need those to continue to have any shot against Dunbar. The Bulldogs are the only team in the state of Kentucky who can say they have beaten Lexington Catholic and Frederick Douglass. It seems that as time passed this season and the Bulldogs were able to practice and play on a consistent basis they showed their ability. Dunbar is led by Tim Hall and Nick Spalding but after the performance Max VanDyke put on in the district finals this team is primed and ready to take on anyone. At this point you have to mention PLD with Lexington Catholic and Frederick Douglass as a three team favorite to win this thing. Franklin County (14-9) vs. Henry Clay (12-7) This is quite possibly the most intriguing matchup of the first round of the 11th Region Tournament. The Flyers who have been fighting health issues all year, finally got to full strength and beat Frankfort Christian Academy and Great Crossing before absolutely blitzing Frankfort to win the 41st District. Phillip Pfiffer, Zac Cox, Fred Farrier, and Nick Broyles have finally started to hit on all cylinders. Franklin County has a group that is more athletic then you think and if they are hitting shots can cause a ton of problems. Henry Clay is not the Henry Clay of old but they have surprised a lot of people this year. The emergence of Kayne Henderson, Aziel Blackwell, and Darik Holman have helped lead the Blue Devils to a surprising good season this year. The Blue Devils had a late lead on Frederick Douglass and had a chance to beat them but just couldn't hold on and pull it off. I expect this game to be the tightest of the first round games. Madison Central (18-9) vs. Lexington Catholic (20-2) The Indians have won 25 of the last 26 44th District Tournaments, no that is not a typo. 25 of the last 26!!! If there is anyone that knows how to win in March its Coach Feldhaus and the Indians. Madison Central is led by Kole Brown, Braeden Ray, and Jaylen Davis. Earlier this season the Indians had a late 3rd quarter lead on the Knights after some hot shooting but Lexington Catholic was able to pull away at the end. Lexington Catholic, one of the top teams in the state, comes in as a runner up to the 11th Region tournament. This just goes to show just how deep and competitive not only this region is but the 43rd District in general can be. Ben Johnson continues to put up crazy numbers and I expect him to be names Mr. Basketball later this month. The Knights need to get some production from others if they want to make a run at the region title and avenge their only losses of the year to PLD. Instead of the usual team by team review of the week, I have decided to do a district by district breakdown this week. Many teams around the region chose not to play this week to avoid any chance of a last minute Covid-19 shutdown. Even though this has been a wild and crazy year in general the basketball season did happen and we got an opportunity to see some great basketball in the 11th region this season. 41st District 1. Great Crossing (11-11) - The Warhawks finished 4-0 in the 41st District this season and earned the overall 1 seed for the district tournament. Great Crossing will play the winner of Franklin County/Frankfort Christian Academy in the semi finals of the district tournament. Great Crossing pulled out 3 close victories this season in district seed games. An argument could be made they could be the 4 seed but I personally think the narrative is they win close games and find ways to win when it matters. Great Crossing is lead by Tye Schureman, Junius Burrell, and Carson Walls, a trio of guards who share the ball well and knock down perimeter shots on the regular. The key to GC advancing to the region tournament is the inside play of Perry, Dawson, and youngster Moreno. Last season the Warhawks finished as the 1 seed but were upset in the semi finals by Frankfort. Can GC get over the hump this season and advance to the district championship?? 2. Frankfort (15-6) - The Panthers finished tied with Western Hills and Franklin County for the 2 seed and won the blind draw. Frankfort was lead all year by big man Jackson Twombly who had a heck of a year scoring 25.6 points per game and pulling down 9.2 rebounds per game. Don't forget about guards Caleb Hack and Jordan Blythe who also had nice years and can fill it up from outside. Frankfort lost early in the season to Western Hills in the "seed" game but beat them more recently later in the season. Frankfort has the weapons to make a run at anyone in this region and have been playing really well lately. 3. Western Hills (9-12) - The Wolverines ended up with the 3 seed after the blind draw and will host this year's district tournament. Hills has been up and down all year, they have some quality wins of late over Grant County and Lafayette. Western Hills is lead by All Region selection Zach Semones and a couple good bigs in Walter Campbell and Eric Gabbard. Western Hills has been absent from the region tournament for a while now. This is as good of a chance as they've had to advance in a while, but Frankfort will be a tough matchup. 4. Franklin County (11-9) - The Flyers finished tied with Frankfort and Western Hills in seeding but drew the 4 seed. Franklin County has been up and down all year and a lot of that is due to injuries from main contributors. Starters Zac Cox, Phillip Pfiffer, and Jayden Mattison have all missed significant time this season. For the first time all year it looks like Franklin County will be at full strength. The Flyers will open up with Frankfort Christian Academy and then get the 1 seed Great Crossing. The Flyers and Warhawks had a close game this season which GC eventually won but that was in January. Can FC turn the tide and pick up their first win over Great Crossing ever? 5. Frankfort Christian Academy (5-16) - The Royals have had a rough year by looking just at the record but this is a young bunch that is made up of mostly Freshmen and Sophomores. The Royals time might be coming soon but its not in the cards this season. They open up with Franklin County in the 4/5 game. 42nd District 1. Frederick Douglass (15-1) - The Broncos are the defending 42nd District champion and look to repeat this season. Douglass never missed a step this season after new coach Jason Mosely took over. Lead by All State guard and EKU commit DaShawn Jackson, the Broncos have dominated all competition this season, other then a loss to PLD in which they had a big second half lead. FDHS will take on the winner of Bryan Station and Sayre and I don't see either team slowing them down. This Douglass team is a legit threat to win the region title. 2. Henry Clay (11-6) - The Blue Devils finished as the 2 seed in the always tough 42nd District. Henry Clay had a ton of stoppages this year and still managed to put together a great season. Unheard of seniors Aziel Blackwell and Darik Holman really made a name for themselves this season. Henry Clay opens up 42nd district play with Scott County at Bryan Station. Henry Clay has a real chance of challenging Frederick Douglass but they have to get by Scott County first! 3. Scott County (8-10) - The Cardinals are the defending 11th Region champion until someone takes it from them, and nobody has beaten Scott County in the regional tournament since 2016!! Scott County has had an up and down year but are always ready come tournament time. Look for the Scott County/Henry Clay game to be an absolute war as it always is. 4. Sayre (10-6) - The Spartans come in as the 4 seed and have had quite a successful season. Already holding a win over Bryan Station the Spartans have a great chance to advance to play Douglass. Congrats to Junior Zander Collett for being names to the 11th Region Coaches All Region team. 5. Bryan Station (8-8) - The Defenders had quite the interesting year. At one time Bryan Station was 4-0 before dropping 7 of 8, however they bounced back nicely at the end of the season to beat Great Crossing and Woodford County. The host of the district tournament they open up with Sayre and then would move on to Frederick Douglass. The Defenders could win this district but they also could lose to Sayre. 43rd District 1. Lexington Catholic (19-1) - The Knights finished a spectacular season and are the heavy favorite to win the region title this year. Anytime you finish as the #1 seed in the 43rd District you've definitely earned it. Shoutout to Senior Ben Johnson on being named KABC 11th Region Player of the Year, 11th Region Coaches Player of the Year and a finalist for Mr. Basketball. I would say Ben is the FAVORITE to take home Mr. Basketball. The Knights will start off with a bye and face the winner of LCA and Tates Creek. 2. Paul Laurence Dunbar (10-5) - The Bulldogs have arguably the best 2 wins in the region, over Frederick Douglass and Lexington Catholic. PLD has been lead all year by Tim Hall and lately Nick Spalding has come on and shown he is one of the best guards in the region. PLD will start the district tournament against host Lafayette, a team they beat twice this season both by single digits. 3. Lafayette (9-12) - The Generals started the season 3-11 and but got things rolling late and finished off winning 6 of their last 7 games against some solid competition. Lafayette was lead this season by Will Stanfield and Abe Nelson but they have a very balanced scoring attack. As the host team the Generals will have a small advantage but it will be a uphill battle to knock off PLD in the opening round. 4. Lexington Christian Academy (12-11) - The Eagles had an up and down season this year. Capturing the 11th Region ALL A title, LCA looked to be headed in the right direction with the return of Tanner Walton from injury. LCA never seemed to be able to hit a stride at any point this season but as always things can change in an instant in the postseason. 5. Tates Creek (5-17) - The Commodores are a young bunch and took a lot of lumps and growing pains this season. Coach Gay has done a tremendous job in his time there and after the huge losses to graduation last season there was no expectation of Tates Creek to be on the same level. Youngster Sam Parrish is a budding star and the Commodores will always play you tough. 44th District 1. Madison Central (17-9) - The Indians are a dark horse for the region title this year and Coach Feldhaus will always have his kids ready and be the toughest team on the floor every night. After the 44th District draw the Indians will face off with Model in the opening round. Look for Central to ease into the finals as they are just too much for Model. 2. Madison Southern (10-10) - The Eagles return from quarantine just in time to open up district tournament play with Berea. An up and down year for Madison Southern but when healthy this team can compete with anyone. Congrats to Senior Trent DeVries on being names to the 11th Region Coaches all Region Team. 3. Berea (8-7) - The Pirates have had quite a season with multiple covid quarantines and a coaching change mid season. Still credit to Berea for sticking with it and always being ready to play when the time came. Berea has a tough opening round matchup with Madison Southern but its not impossible although they will need some luck. 4. Model (8-15) - The Patriots are another team who had to deal with some covid issues late in the season. Unfortunately for the Patriots they drew Madison Central to start the postseason. A tall task indeed, but Coach Morgenson will always have his team prepared and playing hard. PREDECTIONS 41st - Frankfort over Great Crossing 42nd - Frederick Douglass over Henry Clay 43rd - Lexington Catholic over Paul Laurence Dunbar 44th - Madison Central over Madison Southern

1. Lexington Catholic (19-1) - The Knights finally fell from the ranks of the unbeaten this week but not in the way most expected. The much anticipated match up with North Laurel ended didn't go as planned as Lexington Catholic fell to PLD the night before but did recover nicely by destroying North Laurel. Ben Johnson solidified his case for Mr. Basketball with huge numbers all weekend. Catholic also picked up a win over Tates Creek early in the week. As the season comes to an end the Knights are scheduled to play Robertson County this week, a nice tune up going into the 43rd District Tournament. 2. Frederick Douglass (13-1) - The Broncos picked up 2 more wins this week running their winning streak to 11 as they took down Scott County and Henry Clay. Douglass has shown all season they deserve to be in the discussion as one of the top teams in the state of Kentucky led by a 1st team all state player in DaShawn Jackson, and a legitimate contender for the 11th Region title. This week as the regular season comes to an end the Broncos are scheduled to play Sayre and Henry Clay. 3. Paul Laurence Dunbar (10-5) - The Bulldogs got some revenge this week picking up a win over Lexington Catholic after falling to them in a close game the week before. They also picked up a win over Lexington Christian Academy earlier in the week. Dunbar fell to Ashland to end the weekend but had a huge effort from Nick Spalding all weekend. Dunbar is the only team to beat Lexington Catholic and Frederick Douglass this season and are another legitimate threat for a region title. The Bulldogs have completed their regular season schedule and like some other teams around the state decided to take the last week of the season off to avoid any potential Covid-19 quarantines before the postseason begins. 4. Madison Central (14-8) - The Indians picked up 2 wins this week over George Rogers Clark and Barren County and dropped a game to Pulaski County. Also, this week the 44th District had their annual district tournament draw and the Indians drew Model. This week the Indians finish the season with games against Evangel Christian, Bryan Station, and Covington Catholic. 5. Henry Clay (10-5) - The Blue Devils finsihed the week 2-1 with wins over Tates Creek and Sayre and dropped a close game to Frederick Douglass. The Blue Devils are locked in as the 2 seed in the 42nd District tournament. Henry Clay will finish the regular season with 3 straight 42nd district games playing Scott County, Bryan Station, and Frederick Douglass. 6. Lafayette (9-12) - The Generals hot streak continued this week winning 2 games over Great Crossing and Lexington Christian and dropping a close one on the road to Western Hills. Lafayette has won 6 of their last 7 games and have started playing well at the right time. The Generals are another team who have decided to shut down the regular season and will not return to action until the 43rd District Tournament. 7. Lexington Christian (11-10) - The Eagles had a rough week going 1-3 dropping games to Paul Laurence Dunbar, Lafayette, and St. Henry but did manage to pick up a win over Pikeville as part of the State All A Tournament. This week LCA will play one game as they travel to Great Crossing. 8. Madison Southern (10-10) - The Eagles had a an interesting week as they had to use there "covid backup unit" but finished the week 3-1 with wins over Central Kentucky Homeschool, Model, and Garrard County and a lose to Pike County Central. The best news of the week for the Eagles was the 44th District draw where they drew Berea and avoided Madison Central. This week the Eagles are scheduled to play Tates Creek to end the season. 9. Bryan Station (8-8) - The Defenders finished the week 3-1 with wins over Great Crossing, Scott County, and Woodford County and lost to a good GRC team on the road. Station has the potential to win the 42nd District a make a deep postseason run. This week Bryan Station is scheduled to play Madison Central, Henry Clay, and Paris. 10. Great Crossing (9-11) - The Warhawks finished the week 1-2 with a win over Paris and close losses to Lafayette and Bryan Station. 8th Grader Malachi Moreno, brother of former Scott County star Michael, set a school record with 33 points in a win over Paris. This week Great Crossing is scheduled to play LCA and Carroll County. 11. Frankfort (13-6) - The Panthers continue their winning ways this week with a win over Nelson County. Frankfort has now won 6 of the last 7 games they've played. The Panthers finished in a 3 way tie for the 2 seed in the 41st District and ended up as the 3 seed after the tiebreakers and will play Western Hills in the district tournament. This week the Panthers are scheduled to play Bourbon County and Carroll County. 12. Sayre (8-5) - The Spartans finished the week 1-2 with a win over Middlesboro and losses to Henry Clay and Estill County. This week Sayre is scheduled to play Frederick Douglass, Kentucky Country Day, and Whitfield Academy. 13. Scott County (8-9) - The Cardinals finished the week 1-2 with a win over Franklin County and losses to 42nd District rivals Bryan Station and Frederick Douglass. This week Scott County is scheduled to play Henry Clay and Bullitt East. 14. Franklin County (11-9) - The Flyers finished the week 2-1 with wins over Frankfort Christian Academy and Tates Creek and a loss to Scott County. This week Franklin County is scheduled to play Thomas Nelson and Anderson County. 15. Western Hills (9-12) - The Wolverines finished the week 2-1 with two nice wins over Lafayette and Grant County and a loss to Owen County. Western Hills has an argument to be higher in these rankings but havent beaten any of the teams directly ahead of them. Western Hills has no games scheduled this week. 16. Tates Creek (5-16) - The Commodores have now lost 6 in a row and 7 of their last 8. This past week they dropped games to Lexington Catholic, West Jessamine, Franklin County, and Henry Clay. Tates Creek has no games scheduled this week. 17. Model (8-12) - The Patriots played one game this week and lost to Madison Southern then entered covid-19 protocol quarantine. They also drew Madison Central in the upcoming 44th District tournament this weekend. Model is scheduled to play Estill County and Berea this week. 18. Berea (6-6) - The Pirates picked up 3 wins this week over Pineville, Nicholas County, and Bell County and dropped a game to Burgin. This week Berea is scheduled to play Model, Paris, Danville Christian, and Trinity Christian. 19. Frankfort Christian Academy (4-14) - The Royals finished the week 0-2 with losses to Casey County and Franklin County. This week FCA is scheduled to play Whitfield Academy and Model.

1. Lexington Catholic (17-0) - The Knights finished a tough week 4-0 with wins over South Laurel, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Covington Holy Cross, and Tates Creek. PLD gave Lexington Catholic their toughest test to date as Lex Cath pulled out a narrow 2 point win on the road in a game where Ben Johnson poured in 32 points and became the all time leading scorer in Lexington Catholic history! Congrats to Ben! This week the Knights host Tates Creek and Dunbar again before a HUGE showdown with North Laurel and phenom Reed Sheppard. 2. Frederick Douglass (11-1) - The Broncos picked up 2 wins this week over Bardstown and Scott County and continue to show they are a true threat to Lexington Catholic. Senior guard DaShawn Jackson continues to stuff the stat sheet as he is averaging 23.3 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game. This week the Broncos face off with Sayre and Scott County. 3. Paul Laurence Dunbar (8-4) - The Bulldogs finished the week 1-2 with a big win over West Jessamine and narrow losses to Lexington Catholic and Trinity. Although they lost 2 games this week, Dunbar has shown they are for real and a serious threat to anyone on any given night. This week Dunbar faces off with Lexington Christian, Lexington Catholic, and Ashland, another week of tests for PLD. 4. Madison Central (12-7) - The Indians finished the week 1-2 with a win over Montgomery County and losses to North Laurel and Covington Catholic. The Indians will never shy away from competition and this week gets no easier as they face off with George Rogers Clark, Pulaski County, and Henry Clay. 5. Henry Clay (8-4) - The Blue Devils only played one game this week and fell to cross town rival Lafayette. Henry Clay is back in covid quarantine from everything I can tell. The Blue Devils have had a rough go of it this year when it comes to that stuff. Hopefully they can get it together for a run in March. This week the Blue Devils are scheduled to play Lafayette, Scott County, Sayre, Tates Creek, and Madison Central. 6. Lexington Christian Academy (10-7) - The Eagles finished the week 2-1 with wins over Woodford County and Harlan, in the first round of the All A State Tournament, and a 1 point loss to Tates Creek. LCA continues play in the All A State Tournament this week as they face off with Pikeville in the second round. Also, scheduled for this week are 43rd District games with Paul Laurence Dunbar and Lafayette. 7.Great Crossing (8-9) - The Warhawks had a big week going to 2-1 with wins over Western Hills, which locked them into the 1 seed in the 41st District, a big win over crosstown rival Scott County, and a loss at South Oldham. Great Crossing has been up and down all year but won the games they needed to finish as the 1 seed in the district. This week the Warhawks are scheduled to play Lafayette, Bryan Station, and Paris. 8. Frankfort (12-6) - The Panthers finished the week 3-1 with wins over Frankfort Christian Academy, Franklin County, and Rockcastle County, and a 2 point loss at the buzzer to Great Crossing. The win over Franklin County caused a 3 way tie for the 2 seed in the 41st District and I would be willing to bet nobody wants to draw the Panthers. This week Frankfort is scheduled to play Nelson County, Mercer County, and Model. 9. Scott County (7-7) - The Cardinals had a great start to the week picking up wins over Scott County and Sayre then ended the week with big losses to Frederick Douglass and Great Crossing. Scott County is another team who has been hit bad with quarantines and just cant seem to find a rhythm. This week Scott County is scheduled to play Henry Clay, Franklin County, Frederick Douglass, and Bardstown. 10. Sayre (7-4) - The Spartans finished the week 1-3 but opened some eyes by nearly upsetting Scott County on the road. They did managae a win over Western Hills and a close lose to Estill County before falling hard to West Jessamine. This week Sayre is scheduled to play Franklin County, Frederick Douglass, Henry Clay, and Middlesboro. 11. Lafayette (7-11) - The Generals make a big jump this week after going 4-0 with wins over Henry Clay, Garrard County, Franklin County, and Tates Creek. Quite an impressive week for Coach Mendenhall and the Generals. This week is another week full of tests as Lafayette is scheduled to play Henry Clay, Great Crossing, LCA, and Frederick Douglass, all teams currently ranked ahead of them, another good opportunity to climb the rankings. 12. Madison Southern (7-9) - The Eagles went 1-2 on the week with a blowout win over Western Hills and losses to Corbin and Lincoln County. Madison Southern has shown they can beat teams ahead of them but since this is a week to week ranking this is where they sit currently. Up next the Eagles are scheduled to play Berea, Central Kentucky Homeschool, Model, Pike County Central, and Garrard County. 13. Bryan Station (5-7) - The Defenders finished the week 1-3 with a win over Tates Creek and losses to Scott County, Knox Central, and Harrison County. This week the Defenders are scheduled to play Scott County, GRC, Great Crossing, and Woodford County. 14. Tates Creek (5-12) - The Commodores went 1-3 this week with a win over LCA and losses to Bryan Station, Lafayette, and Lexington Catholic. This week Tates Creek is scheduled to play Lexington Catholic, West Jessamine, Henry Clay, and Franklin County. 15. Franklin County (9-8) - The Flyers finished the week 1-2 with a win over Nelson County and losses to Frankfort and Lafayette. Franklin County is still without starters Zac Cox and Phillip Peiffer and its showing. Hopefully those two guys are back this week for FC. The Flyers are scheduled to play Sayre, Scott County, Frankfort Christian Academy, and Tates Creek this week. 16. Western Hills (7-11) - The Wolverines finished 1-3 this week with a win over Frankfort Christian Academy and losses to Sayre, Great Crossing, and Madison Southern. This week Western Hills is scheduled to play Owen County and Montgomery County. 17. Model (8-11) - The Patriots finished the week 2-0 with wins over Williamstown and Trinity Christian. This week Model is scheduled to play Madison Southern, Menifee County, and Frankfort. 18. Berea (3-5) - The Pirates picked up 2 wins this week over Powell County and Owsley County and dropped a game to Estill County. This week Berea is scheduled to play Burgin, Bell County, Bath County, Nicholas County, and Pineville. 19. Frankfort Christian Academy (4-12) - The Royals dropped two district games this week to Frankfort and Western Hills. Up next the Royals are scheduled to play Franklin County and Casey County.

1. Lexington Catholic (13-0) - The Knights continue to roll right along. Only one game was played this week but they picked up a win over rival Lexington Christian. Ben Johnson, as always, paced the Knights with 32 points and continues to make his case for Mr. Basketball. This week Lexington Catholic has 4 games in 4 days this week as they take on Sayre, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Henry Clay, and Tates Creek. 2. Frederick Douglass (9-1) - The Broncos did not play any games this past week due to weather and Covid protocols. In any other year senior guard DaShawn Jackson would be making a solid case for region player of the year and Mr. Basketball but it just happens to be a season where Ben Johnson exist, but nonetheless what Jackson is doing is impressive. Up next for Douglass is Bardstown and Scott County. 3. Paul Laurence Dunbar (7-2) - The Bulldogs played one game this week and picked up a win over Lafayette. Dunbar, like most Fayette County public school teams, have had to deal with the constant shut downs and delays because of weather and covid and cant seem to get into a real groove. This week PLD has 3 tough tests with West Jessamine, Lexington Catholic, and Trinity. 4. Henry Clay (8-3) - The Blue Devils were another team who did not play any games this week due to weather and covid protocols. Henry Clay has been a bit of a surprise this year, with some unknowns stepping up in Aziel Blackwell and Darik Holman. This week Henry Clay plays Lafayette, Western Hills, and Lexington Catholic. 5. Madison Central (11-5) - The Indians picked up a win over Bourbon County this week, and look to be the only team in the region who are having a somewhat normal season as far as games being played. Over the weekend the Indians social media mentioned Coach Feldhaus had a slip and fall and was injured, hoping for a quick recovery for him! This week Madison Central has 2 nice tests in North Laurel and Montgomery County. 6. Lexington Christian (7-6) - The Eagles played only one game this week and lost a close one to rival Lexington Catholic. LCA did get some goof news as the All A State Tournament was rescheduled and will still be played. This week LCA plays Bluegrass United, Woodford County, and Tates Creek. 7. Madison Southern (6-7) - The Eagles picked up 2 nice wins this week over Perry County Central and Great Crossing. Trent DeVries had big nights in both of those games. Coach Newton has done an outstanding job with the Southern program and they continue to get better every night out. This week Madison Southern plays Lincoln County, Corbin, and Berea. 8. Scott County (5-5) - The Cardinals havent played a game since February 8th but are scheduled to get back in action this week. Scott County is scheduled to play Sayre, Bryan Station, Frederick Douglass, and Great Crossing. 9. Sayre (6-1) - The Spartans make a surprise entry into the top 10 this week after 2 nice wins over Wolfe County and Bryan Station. Sayre hadnt played a game in a full calendar month before the two they played this week. Up next are some more opportunities for the Spartans as they play Scott County, Western Hills, Lexington Catholic, and Louisville Collegiate in a packed week. 10. Bryan Station (4-4) - The Defenders take a steep drop this week after dropping a game to Sayre and now having dropped 4 in a row. As with other Fayette County public school teams they just havent had any consistent time on the floor. This week Bryan Station plays Tates Creek, Scott County, and Harrison County. 11. Frankfort (9-5) - The Panthers are playing really well lately as they picked up 2 wins this week over Western Hills and Bethlehem. Junior Jackson Twombly has been putting up crazy numbers and scored his 1,000th career point this past week, congrats to him! This week Frankfort has 6 games in 6 days with Great Crossing, Frankfort Christian, Louisville Collegiate, Franklin County, Anderson County, and Rockcastle County. Quite a stretch. 12. Great Crossing (5-8) - The Warhawks went 1-1 on the week with a blowout win over Frankfort Christian and an overtime loss to Madison Southern. Another team that has been affected by numerous covid shutdowns, Great Crossing just needs consistent time in the gym. This week is a busy one as they take on Frankfort, South Oldham, Western Hills, and Scott County. 13. Franklin County (8-6) - The Flyers were hit by the covid bug this week and were without a couple key guys being quarantined and went to Mercer County and dropped a game that under normal circumstances they would probably win. Once again, FC could be a top 10 team in the region at some point if they can get it all together. This week the Flyers face off with Frankfort, Nelson County, and Lafayette. 14. Tates Creek (4-9) - The Commodores did not play any games this week due to weather cancellations. This week Tates Creek is scheduled to play Bryan Station, LCA, Lexington Catholic, and Lafayette. 15. Western Hills (6-8) - The Wolverines played only 1 games this week and dropped it to Frankfort and have now dropped 3 in a row. This week Western Hills plays Berea, Sayre, Great Crossing, Frankfort Christian Academy, and Nelson County. 16. Lafayette (3-11) - The Generals played only once this week and fell to PLD. Lafayette has lost 10 of their last 11 games. This week the Generals play Henry Clay, Tates Creek, Garrard County, and Franklin County. 17. Model (6-11) - The Patriots went 1-1 on the week with a win over Bluegrass United and a loss to Williamsburg. This week Model plays Williamstown, Trinity Christian, Mercer County, and Burgin. 18. Berea (1-4) - The Pirates have not played a game in over 2 weeks. This week they are scheduled to play Western Hills, Estill County, Powell County, Jackson County, and Madison Southern. 19. Frankfort Christian Academy (4-10) - The Royals went 1-1 on the week with a loss to Great Crossing and a win over Portland Christian. This week they play 41st District games with Frankfort and Western Hills.

Another week in the books in the 11th Region and of course its never easy to get games in. If its a pandemic or if its the weather for whatever reason we never know when someone is or isn't going to play and who the opponent will be! Regardless, their was some basketball played this week, lets check out what went on in the 11th Region! TEAM RANKINGS 1. Lexington Catholic (12-0) - The Knights continue to roll through anyone and everyone they come up against. This week Lexington Catholic picked up 3 wins over Lincoln County, Lafayette, and Madison Central, all by substantial margins. Ben Johnson gets most of the headlines, as he should with his blistering 28 points per game but Jack Gohman and Ryan Russell are also averaging double figures and this team is as balanced as anyone in the state. Congrats to coach Brandon Salsman on picking up his 400th career win this weekend as well. Up next for the Knights are trips to Tates Creek and Paul Laurence Dunbar followed by a home game with Scott County. 2. Frederick Douglass (9-1) - The Broncos picked up arguably the biggest win of any 11th Region team this past week when they beat George Rogers Clark by 35 points! The rest of the games scheduled for Douglass were canceled due to weather and covid concerns. DaShawn Jackson, Tyson Barrett, and Kai Simpson continue to lead the Broncos this season as they look like a legit threat to Lexington Catholic and the 11th Region Championship! Up next FDHS they host Henry Clay and Scott County before hitting the road to face off with Harrison County and Boyle County. 3. Madison Central (10-5) - The Indians have the distinct advantage of having played more games then anyone in the region, which in my opinion is only helpful for kids getting used to conditioning. This past week Madison Central picked up wins over Bracken County and rival Madison Southern before dropping one to Lexington Catholic in a game that was much closer then the final score for 3 1/2 quarters. This week the Indians are scheduled to visit Ballard and Bourbon County, two nice road tests! 4. Paul Laurence Dunbar (6-2) - The Bulldogs played one game this week and picked up a narrow win over district rival Lafayette. Leading scorer Tim Hall is back to his normal production but Cade Hilt has yet to return to the lineup after missing time. The Bulldogs have the potential to beat anyone but don't seem to have put it all together just yet in this crazy season. Up next Dunbar is scheduled to host Lexington Catholic and Lafayette. 5. Henry Clay (8-3) - The Blue Devils remain on their hot streak having now won 8 of their last 9 games! This week Henry Clay picked up a win over Shelby County before the rest of their games were canceled due to covid concerns. Aziel Blackwell has really put his name on the map this season for Henry Clay. Up next the Blue Devils will head to Frederick Douglass and Bryan Station for 2 pivotal 42nd District match ups! 6. Lexington Christian Academy (7-5) - The Eagles only played one game this past week and they came away with a victory over a previously hot Bryan Station team. Tanner Walton poured in 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help the Eagles best Bryan Station. This week LCA is scheduled to begin play in the All A State Tournament with an opening round match up with Murray from Region 1. This next group of teams is where it gets really difficult to figure out who is playing the best at the moment. You could throw 6-7 teams in a hat and draw them out and probably get an as accurate of a ranking as any. 7. Bryan Station (4-3) - The Defenders had a rough week losing back to back games to LCA and Tates Creek. The Defenders have cooled down shooting from the 3 lately and it has started to show. This week for Bryan Station is three big district games with Scott County, Henry Clay, and Sayre. 8. Scott County (5-5) - The Cardinals picked up a win this week over Woodford County then didn't play due to covid cancellations. Scott County has been playing much better lately winning 4 in a row and seem to be coming together. Up next for the Cardinals are games with Bryan Station, Frederick Douglass, and Lexington Catholic. Three HUGE tests to see if Scott County is truly in the mix for the region crown this season. 9. Madison Southern (5-7) - The Eagles finished the week 2-1 with wins over Franklin County and Perry County Central and a close loss on the road to rival Madison Central. Trent DeVries and Jay Rose continue to pace the Eagles this season. The biggest game on the schedule for Madison Southern isn't a game, its the 44th District draw! This week Madison Southern is scheduled to take on Central Kentucky Homeschool, Boyle County, and Lincoln County. 10. Great Crossing (4-7) - The Warhawks have played no games this past week due to covid shutdowns. Their is an argument to be made that Great Crossing could be lower or higher in these rankings but the early season win over Franklin County will hold them just ahead for now. Up next Great Crossing is scheduled to play Bourbon County, Western Hills, and East Jessamine. 11. Franklin County (8-5) - The Flyers picked up a win over Harrison County and a loss to Madison Southern this week. Franklin County could make an argument to be higher but with head to head losses to the 2 teams above them this is where they will stay for now. Up next Franklin County is scheduled to play Western Hills, Bardstown, and Mercer County. All 3 winnable games. 12. Tates Creek (4-9) - Tates Creek only had 1 game this week but picked up an impressive win over Bryan Station. Creek is another team that at times could be ranked higher or lower. Its an ever changing season in the 11th. Sophomore Sam Parrish continues to pour in big numbers for the Commodores in his breakout season. Up next for Tates Creek are two big 43rd District games with Lafayette and Lexington Catholic. 13. Lafayette (3-10) - The Generals have dropped 4 straight games including 2 this week to Paul Laurence Dunbar and Lexington Catholic. Lafayette had started to show signs of life recently but seem to have take a step back lately. This week Lafayette is scheduled to play Spencer County, Tates Creek, and PLD. 14. Frankfort (7-5) - The Panthers finished the week 1-1 with a win over Portland Christian and a loss to Bullitt Central. Lately Frankfort has been playing much better having won 6 of their last 7 games. Big man Jackson Twombly continues to shine averaging 25.5 and 9.1 rebounds per game. This week Frankfort is scheduled to play Danville, Louisville Collegiate, Western Hills, and Bethlehem. 15. Western Hills (6-7) - The Wolverines didnt play any games this week due to weather and covid cancellations. Up next Western Hills is scheduled to play crosstown rival Franklin County, Great Crossing, Frankfort, and Berea. A big week in the 42nd District for the Wolverines. 16. Sayre (4-1) - The Spartans haven't played a game in over a MONTH!!! At this point you just hope they get to continue playing and practicing and have a shot in the district tournament. Sayre is scheduled to play 3 games this week with Paris, Bryan Station, and Wolfe County. 17. Model (5-10) - The Patriots won 3 games this week over Frankfort Christian, Nicholas County, and Jackson County. Model always plays hard and it looks like its starting to pay off for them. This week Model is scheduled to play Bluegrass United, Garrard County, Berea, and Williamsburg. 18. Berea (1-4) - The Pirates didn't play any games this week but perhaps the biggest news is the resignation of their coach, Ray Valentine. The rumors have swirled as to why, even on this board, but its not my place to get into that. Coach Valentine released a statement that said it was due to family issues and that's what we will go with. This week the Pirates are scheduled to play Rockcastle County, Powell County, Model, and Western Hills. 19. Frankfort Christian Academy (3-9) - The Royals dropped 3 games this week to Model, Bethlehem, and Trinity Christian. This week FCA is scheduled to play Portland Christian.

TEAM RANKINGS 1. Lexington Catholic (9-0) - The Knights have been shut down recently due to Covid-19 quarantine. Lexington Catholic hasnt played a game since January 25th. The Knights do return to action this week with 3 games, at Lincoln County, and two home games with Wayne County and Great Crossing. 2. Frederick Douglass (8-1) - The Broncos picked up 3 wins this week over Lafayette, Lexington Christian, and Woodford County. The much anticipated rematch between Douglass and Dunbar was canceled due to Covid-19 quarantine by PLD. Senior DaShawn Jackson continues to pace the Broncos with key contributions from Tyson Barrett and Kai Simpson. A huge week for the Broncos as they face off with 3 really good teams in GRC, Henry Clay, and PRP. 3. Madison Central (8-4) - Finally back at full strength the Indians rolled this week with 3 blowout wins over Model, Corbin, and Paul Laurence Dunbar. In the win over Dunbar WIll Hardin connected on 6 of 9 from 3 and finished with 29 points. This week the Indians head to Bracken County then return home to play Madison Southern and Berea. 4. Bryan Station (4-1) - The Defenders have been in quarantine and did not play this week. Bryan Station does return to action this week with trips to LCA and GRC before returning home to face off with Scott County. 5. Paul Laurence Dunbar (4-2) - The Bulldogs started the week with a big win over Tates Creek before losing two scheduled games to Covid shutdowns. PLD ended the week with a big loss to Madison Central with a final margin of defeat being 24 points. The Bulldogs should be back at full strength this week as they face off with 43rd District rivals Lafayette and LCA. 6. Henry Clay (7-3) - The Blue Devils maybe the hottest team in the region right now winning 7 of their last 8 including 3 wins this week over Shelby County, Somerset, and Woodford County. Aziel Blackwell and and Darik Holman continue to have breakout seasons and the Blue Devils are really starting to show what they are capable of. Up next the Blue Devils play Shelby County again followed by Tates Creek and Frederick Douglass. 7. Lexington Christian Academy (6-5) - The Eagles have hit a skid lately losing 3 of their last 4. This week they fell to Lafayette, Montgomery County, and Frederick Douglass but did pick up a win over Tates Creek. Tanner Walton continues to lead the way for LCA with 21.8 points per game. This week the schedule gets no easier as the Eagles face off with Bryan Station, Trinity, and Paul Laurence Dunbar. 8. Scott County (4-5) - The Cardinals finally broke out of quarantine and picked up a nice road win over Western Hills. This week is full with 3 games against Woodford County, Bryan Station, and Sayre. 9. Great Crossing (4-7) - The Warhawks finished the week 1-1 with a loss to a good Covington Holy Cross team and a win over Berea. Unfortunately, the Warhawks were put back into quarantine and wont be playing any games this week. 10. Franklin County (7-4) - The Flyers could make an argument to be above the Warhawks but the head to head win for GC leaves FC just one spot below them. The Flyers picked up 2 wins this week over North Bullitt and Carroll County. Up next Franklin County takes on Madison Southern, Bracken County, and Frankfort Christian Academy. 11. Lafayette 12. Its hard to believe we have reached a complete month of this crazy season but here we are. Some teams have had smooth sailing and others have hit the covid quarantine lifestyle. At this point some teams are playing short handed and some are playing one week at a time. Lets check out how things went this week in the 11th Region! TEAM RANKINGS 1. Lexington Catholic (9-0) - The Knights started the week off on the road at Christian Academy of Louisville and picked up an 11 point win but what Ben Johnson did was the bigger story. The senior poured in 51 points to tie the school record he also grabbed 10 rebounds in the win. At this point he has to be the favorite for Mr. Basketball this season. Sadly, for the Knights that was the only game they played this week as they were put into Covid-19 quarantine. The Knights do return to action later this week with a big time 43rd district matchup against Lexington Christian Academy. 2. Frederick Douglass (5-1) - The Broncos picked up 2 HUGE wins this week over Madison Central and Bryan Station. All State guard DaShawn Jackson averaged 21.5 points per game this week to pace the Broncos as they look to be a serious contender for the #1 spot in the region. A big rematch with Paul Laurence Dunbar starts the week off for Douglass, followed by games with Bryan Station and Woodford County. The Broncos blew a 17 point 2nd half lead the last time they played PLD and will be looking to avenge their only loss this season. 3. Bryan Station (4-1) - The Defenders jump up a couple spots in this week's rankings going 1-1 with a win over PLD and a loss to Frederick Douglass. The Bulldogs were short handed against Bryan Station but credit to Station they played the game on their schedule and won. JaMarious LIndsay and Myles Morones continue to pace the Defenders. Coming up is a quick rematch with Frederick Douglass along with games against Lafayette and Tates Creek. 4. Paul Laurence Dunbar (5-1) - The Bulldogs were missing the services of leading scorer Tim Hall and starter Cade Hilt this week and dropped a close one to Bryan Station but rebounded to pick up a win over Tates Creek. Nick Spalding picked up the scoring this week for PLD with Hall out and continues to improve his overall game. This week the Bulldogs hit the road for 3 HUGE games with Frederick Douglass, Henry Clay, and Madison Central. Expect to see Tim Hall back this week but not sure on Cade Hilt's return date. 5. Madison Central (5-4) - The Indians finished the week 1-2 with a win over Lafayette and losses to Frederick Douglass and North Laurel. Madison Central is finally back at full strength as senior Braeden Ray made his return after missing some time in the North Laurel game. This week the Indians host Model, Corbin, and Paul Laurence Dunbar. 6. Henry Clay (4-3) - The Blue Devils havent played a game since January 19th so no results to report. They have moved up to the 6 spot by the results of teams below them. Henry Clay returns to action this week with games at Sayre and Woodford County and a home game with Paul Laurence Dunbar. 7. Lexington Christian Academy (5-3) - The Eagles played only 1 game this week and got beat down by Lafayette in a somewhat surprising score. No stats have been posted yet so not sure the story of the game. This week LCA hosts Tates Creek before heading to Montgomery County and Lexington Catholic. 8. Scott County (3-5) - The Cardinals did not play a game this week due to Covid-19 quarantine but had been playing better before their shut down. This week the Cardinals return to action with a crosstown rivalry match up with Great Crossing for the only game on the schedule this week. 9. Madison Southern (3-6) - The Eagles are another team who have been shut down recently due to Covid-19 quarantine, they were able to get one game in this week, a loss to North Laurel. Madison Southern has no games scheduled this upcoming week. 10. Lafayette (3-6) - The Generals are a bit of Jekyll and Hyde this season. They picked up a 20 point win over LCA but dropped a game to Madison Central. The 3 wins this season for Lafayette are really good ones but they also have some head scratching losses. This week the Generals hit the road to Bryan Station and Trinity. 11. Tates Creek (3-7) - The Commodores finished the week 1-2 with a win over Western Hills and losses to Somerset and Paul Laurence Dunbar. Sophomore Sam Parrish continues his breakout season, averaging 20.6 points per game this season. Tates Creek is a young bunch but Coach Gay gets the most out of his guys and the future is bright. Up next the Commodores head to LCA and East Jessamine and host Bryan Station. 12. Great Crossing (3-6) - The Warhawks have started to play a little better picking up two wins this week over Mercer County and Grant County but dropping a close one on the road to Estill County. Some younger guys have started to step up for Coach Page including Malachi Moreno, the younger brother of former Scott County star Michael Moreno. This week Great Crossing plays 4 games against Frankfort Christian, Covington Holy Cross, Berea, and Scott County. 13. Franklin County (5-4) - The Flyers are starting to play much better having won 4 of their last 5 including two wins this week over Central Kentucky Homeschool and Russell and a close lose on the road at Danville. Three should be wins for the Flyers this week as they host North Bullitt, head to Berea, and finish the week at home against Carroll County. 14. Western Hills (4-5) - The Wolverines finish the week 2-1 with an impressive win over Anderson County, a win over Model, and a loss to Tates Creek. In the win over Anderson County Zach Semones poured in 20 points and chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds. This week Western Hills heads to Danville before hosting Bluegrass United and Shelby County. 15. Sayre (4-1) - The Spartans havent played since January 16th but do return to action this week with games against St. Francis, Henry Clay, and Nelson County. 16. Frankfort (4-4) - The Panthers have been out of action since last week but do return to action this week with trips to Paris and Louisville Collegiate. 17. Berea (1-3) - The Pirates are yet another team who havent played recently due to Covid-19 quarantine. They do return to action this week with games against Franklin County and Great Crossing. 18. Model (1-7) - The Patriots returned to action this week after an extended lay off and dropped 3 games to Western Hills, Paris, and Somerset Christian, all 3 of which were super close one possession games and one overtime loss. Coach Morgerson is a super hard worker and his team always competes. Hopefully that turns into some wins soon. This week Model plays Madison Central, Powell County, Casey County, and West Jessamine. 19. Frankfort Christian Academy (2-4) - The Royals picked up their first two wins of the season over Riverside Christian and Heritage Academy and dropped one game to Portland Christian. This week they take on Great Crossing, Highlands Latin, and Beth Haven. Just want to add that I may miss some scheduled games due to them not being updated on KHSAA. Doing the best we can this season in an ever changing climate!

Welcome to basketball in 2021, the coaches wear masks, a coin flip starts the game, and schedules change on a dime. Some really good match ups were cancelled and postponed this week and some teams didn't even get a chance to play. At some point you have to hope things will go back to normal and theses cancellations don't cost a team a chance at the postseason. Lets check out what did actually happen this week in the 11th Region. TEAM RANKINGS 1. Lexington Catholic (8-0) - The Knights picked up 2 solid wins this week over Henry Clay and Collins. Both games were never close and the Knights continue to flex their muscles and dominate teams. Another huge week for Ben Johnson who had 29 points and 11 rebounds against Henry Clay and followed that up with 24 points and 5 rebounds against Collins. The Knights are showing not only are they the top team in the 11th Region but a legit contender for a state championship. This week the Knights head to Louisville to play Christian Academy of Louisville and Trinity then end the week with a trip to Harrison County. 2. Paul Laurence Dunbar ( 4-0) - The Bulldogs were off this week because of Covid-19 quarantine and didn't play any games. They stay at 2 right now because nobody directly below them has either played or done enough to jump them. PLD returns to action this week but will be without the services of leading scorer Tim Hall and another starter Cade Hilt. An interesting match up with Bryan Station leads the week off then they finish with 43rd District rival Tates Creek. 3. Frederick Douglass (3-1) - The Broncos returned to action this past weekend and traveled to Mason County and picked up a nice win. Stats hadn't been posted at the time I was writing this. This week a big inter-region match up with Madison Central starts off the week for the Broncos and then a trip to a hot Bryan Station to end the week. Douglass will get a chance to make a statement this week if they can pull of 2 wins. 4. Madison Central (4-2) - The Indians returned to action after a lay off as well. Only one game this week and they dropped one to Pikeville in a close contest as part of the Brent Ray Classic. Senior Kole Brown had a big night with 27 points including his 1,000th career point. Senior Braeden Ray was out of action against Pikeville. This week Madison Central travels to Frederick Douglass and North Laurel while hosting Lafayette between the two. 5. Bryan Station (3-0) - The Defenders were ANOTHER team who had been out of action for a while but returned this week and picked up a nice win over Bourbon County. JMarious Lindsay had a huge game with 27 points while Trent Grundy chipped in 15. This week the competition will take a step up as the Defenders head to a short handed PLD and then host 42nd District rival Frederick Douglass. 6. Lexington Christian Academy (6-2) - The Eagles picked up 2 wins this week over Central Kentucky Homeschool and Anderson County. The win over Anderson County was quite impressive as LCA won by 37 points!! Tanner Walton scored 25 points and Tyler Hall added 20 himself. This week LCA heads to Tates Creek for a 43rd District seed game. 7. Henry Clay (4-3) - The Blue Devils only played one game last week and they fell to Lexington Catholic by 15 points, a relatively close margin considering how much the Knights have been beating people by lately. Aziel Blackwell continues to have a breakout season for the Blue Devils with 17 points and 8 rebounds against Lexington Catholic. Henry Clay returns to action this weekend with a big 42nd District seed game against Scott County then hosts Belfry this weekend. 8. Scott County (3-5) - The Cardinals picked up 2 much needed wins this week over Lafayette and Bourbon County. After a slow start to the season Scott County looks to continue to right the ship. Nick Mosby and Elias Richardson had big weeks to help lead the Cardinals. Some big games upcoming as Scott County heads to Bryan Station and hosts Henry Clay in two big 42nd District seed games then ends the weekend with a HUGE test against the states leading scoring team George Rogers Clark. 9. Madison Southern (3-5) - The Eagles picked up 2 wins this past week over Garrard County and Harrison County but lost to a good Somerset team as well. Madison Southern got off to a slow start to the season but seem to be headed in the right direction under Coach Newton. Trent DeVries continues to have a good start to the season averaging 18.2 points per game. This week the Eagles host Pulaski County and Berea before traveling to Clinton County this weekend. 10. Lafayette (2-5) - The Generals lost two close games this week to good competition in Scott County and Simon Kenton. Although the record may not show it, Lafayette is playing much better then expected. Seniors Torri Turner and Will Stanfield are having nice seasons for Lafayette. This week the Generals head to Madison Central and host Lexington Christian Academy, two good tests for them! 11. Tates Creek (2-5) - The Commodores have been short handed for a while now due to their JV team being quarantined. They are starting to get some guys back now but big props to them for playing for 2 weeks with basically only 6 players. This past week they dropped games to two quality teams in GRC and Boyle County. Sam Parrish continues to shine though, this week he averaged 24 points per game. This week Tates Creek hosts Somerset, travels to PLD, and then faces Western Hills on a neutral court. 12. Great Crossing (1-5) - The Warhawks have been in Covid-19 quarantine this past week therefore havent played any games. Their lone win over Franklin County puts them in this spot ahead of the teams directly below them. Great Crossing returns to action this weekend as they head to Grant County. 13. Franklin County (3-3) - The Flyers had a nice week picking up wins over rival Western Hills and on the road at Owen County. The Flyers football players seem to be rounding into basketball shape and its showing on the court. Junior Zac Cox had a real nice game against Owen County with 21 points. This week the Flyers head to Danville and Frankfort. Two quality match ups for FC. With wins this week they could climb up the rankings. 14. Sayre (4-1) - The Spartans are another team who have been off due to Covid-19 quarantine and havent played anyone in 2 weeks. They do return to action this week with a match up on the road against Woodford County. 15. Western Hills (2-4) - The Wolverines only had 1 games this week as they fell to rival Franklin County. Three games are on the schedule this week as Western Hills hosts Anderson County, travels to Model, and then faces off with Tates Creek at Franklin County as part of the Gary Moore Classic. 16. Frankfort (4-4) - The Panthers picked up 3 wins this week but it wasnt against the toughest competition as they beat Somerset Christian, Nicholas County, and Berea. Big man Jackson Twombly continues to post near double doubles every game for the Panthers. This week Frankfort only has one game on the schedule but its a big one against crosstown rival Franklin County. 17. Berea (1-3) - The Pirates only had 1 game this week and they lost to Frankfort. This week Berea faces off with St. Patrick, Madison Southern, and Trinity Christian. Some winnable games for sure for the Pirates. 18. Model (1-4) - The Patriots havent played in 2 weeks due to Covid-19 quarantine but do return to action this week. Model will face off with Paris, Somerset Christian, and Western Hills. 19. Frankfort Christian Academy (0-3) - The Royals returned to action this week after a long lay off and dropped 2 games to Danville Christian and Casey County. Up next FCA faces off with Riverside Christian.

Another week in the books in the mighty 11th Region. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 shutdowns have started to hit the region and caused a couple of good match ups to be canceled late in the week. However, the 11th Region All A Classic was held along with some other really good match ups. Lets check out this past weeks action! TEAM RANKINGS 1. Lexington Catholic (6-0) - The Knights improved to 6-0 this week with 3 big wins over Lafayette, Holmes, and Highlands. The win against Highlands sticks out as Highlands was ranked as high as 9th in the state this week. The Knights were able to take control of the game early behind Ben Johnson who ended the day with 29 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. For the week Johnson averaged 25.4 points per game and continues to show why he is one of the favorites for Mr. Basketball this season. The Knights lost a big 43rd District game early this upcoming week when Paul Laurence Dunbar went into Covid-19 shutdown but do face off with a resurgent Tates Creek team to end the week. 2. Paul Laurence Dunbar (4-0) - The Bulldogs started off the week with a big win over Frederick Douglass in a game where they trailed by as many as 17 points in the second half. Tim Hall had a huge game with 34 points and 14 rebounds while Nick Spalding poured in 21 points as well. The rest of the week was sadly put to an end for PLD as they entered Covid-19 shutdown and unfortunately lost games with Madison Central and Bowling Green. The Bulldogs will be out of action for the next two weeks. 3. Madison Central (4-1) - The Indians got off to a slow start this week dropping a game to West Jessamine on the road in overtime but bounced back nicely with a win over South Laurel to end the week. A big time match up with Paul Laurence Dunbar was canceled. Kole Browne and Braeden Ray continue to pace the Indians this season. Up next for Madison Central is a game with Belfry at Sayre and then games with Trinity and Pikeville to end the week. A tough week for the Indians. 4. Frederick Douglass - (2-1) - This was not the best week for the Broncos. After blowing a 17 point second half lead to Paul Laurence Dunbar the Broncos were put into Covid-19 shutdown after a positive test from an opponent forced them to close up for 2 weeks. DaShawn Jackson had a nice game against Dunbar with 22 points and 7 rebounds and Tyson Barrett continues to put his name on the map with 15 points and 9 rebounds against Dunbar. The Broncos are scheduled to play this week with big time 42nd District games against Henry Clay, Scott County, and Sayre all this week. 5. Bryan Station (2-0) - The Defenders are another team who have been hit by Covid-19 and havent played any games in over a week. Bryan Station is scheduled to resume playing this week with a home game Friday against Bourbon County. Hopefully the Defenders can get back into the swing of things and continue to show signs of improvement. 6. Henry Clay (4-2) - The Blue Devils are on a 4 game win streak including 3 wins this past week over Tates Creek, Madison Southern, and Nicholas County. Aziel Blackwell continues to have a breakout season averaging 18.5 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game. A big week upcoming for Henry Clay as they host 42nd District rival Frederick Douglass then head to a good Boyle County team and end the week with crosstown rival Lafayette. 7. Lexington Christian (4-2) - A big week for the Eagles as they captured the 11th Region All A Classic Championship with wins over Frankfort, Trinity Christian, and Sayre. Tanner Walton returned to help the Eagles in the championship game against Sayre and finished with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. This week LCA has a tough week with Anderson County, Beechwood, and Central Kentucky Homeschool. 8. Tates Creek (2-3) - What a week for the Commodores. Early on Tates Creek took one on the chin at Henry Clay but bounced back to win two games over Woodford County and Bracken County both on the road. The big thing about those last two wins is Tates Creek only had 6 players suit up in each game, and even ended the Bracken County game with 4 players!! Sam Parrish had a HUGE week with 23 points against Woodford County and 25 points against Bracken County. This week Tates Creek heads to two top 5 teams in George Rogers Clark and Lexington Catholic. 9. Scott County (1-5) - The Cardinals finally got on the winning side of things this week with a win over crosstown rival Great Crossing but then dropped back to back games against East Jessamine and Meade County. The Cardinals are really struggling to find their groove early in the season. The Cardinals lost a scheduled game this week to Bryan Station due to Covid shutdown but do have games with Bourbon County, Lafayette, and Frederick Douglass. 10. Madison Southern (1-4) - The Eagles dropped 2 close games this past week to good competition in South Laurel and Henry Clay. Don't let the record fool you the Eagles have been in every game theyve played this season. Up next the Eagles hit the road to Somerset, Garrard County, and Great Crossing. The next 6-7 teams in the rankings could really fall anywhere and I think it will be a revolving door at these spots the rest of the season. 11. Lafayette (2-4) 12. Great Crossing (1-5) 13. Franklin County (1-3) 14. Sayre (4-2) 15. Western Hills (2-3) 16. Frankfort (1-4) The bottom 3 teams are really struggling to start the season and will need to do some work to make it to the next tier of the region. With so many Covid-19 shutdowns in the region this week and next its really hard to give a ton of information on some teams. 17. Berea (1-2) 18. Model (1-4) 19. Frankfort Christian Academy (0-1)

In early week action, two of the top teams faced off with Paul Laurence Dunbar defeating Frederick Douglass. Douglass led by as many as 17 in the second half but Dunbar pulled off the comeback led by Tim Hall. In other early week action, Lexington Catholic disposed of Lafayette and Scott County and Madison Central each took losses to top 12th Region teams. PLD and Madison Central play later in the week in another matchup of top Region teams.
