Game is on TV as well. I'm watching it, it's channel 99 where I'm at but I have no idea what the name of this station is. Rowan needs to slow down, they seem really tight right now. It's understandable though. Come on Vikes.

Towles and Pike are 1 and 1a IMO. Lot of good players out there though.

Best: The whole gameday experience as a whole. I would always say that I could smell football weather before a game, and no it wasn't just my sweaty teammates. I haven't been married or had a kid or even graduated from college yet, so I can say that winning close games were one of, if not the best feelings of my life. I'll never forget the Sourghom Bowl at Morgan County where we won when one of their players was wide open in the endzone and dropped a TD pass as time expired. Worst: We sucked, and there is no getting around that. When I played WC never made the playoffs, and did not beat East Carter once during my HS career. I'm ultra-competitive and that always killed me but there was really nothing I could do about that because I never missed a practice or a lift, nor ever came off the field because I was "hurt", even though I played my last year having to pass with my scapula digging into my rotator cuff. As far as injuries go, my shoulder injury I had to play with my junior and senior year will never heal, but I look at that as battle scars. Can't live life without getting a little beat up.

Pike seems to be in consideration for the top overall QB spot in the country from a few sites. I think when the first rankings come out he's in the top 5 on Scout, ESPN or Rivals. Unless I'm mistaken only Rivals really breaks it down from pro-style to dual threat out of the main 3 rankings. I would be willing to bet Pike gets a 5 star rating from at least one of the sites going off what I've read. I'd be shocked if he's not in the top 3 or 4 on Scout, right or wrong.

:thumb: No harm no foul. Kentucky had 2 or 3 guys on the top 150 last year at ESPN, so hopefully there will be more to come this year. I'll say this though, I think the ESPN rankings have a heavy southern bias, so it could be hard for him to get on there even if he is deserving. Seems like most of their list is from Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama and Texas. So if he makes it, I think it is an even bigger accomplishment than it may seem.

:thumb: I just thought Sweeperboy was making my comments out to be something they're not. I hope Towles, Pike, and every other big prospect in KY are extremely highly rated and recruited this year.

Just to add on, what I said wasn't meant as a slap in the face. The facts are that the kid has made the "Watch List" for now. Stating that is not saying anything negative, but only making a true statement. No 2012 player is an ESPN 150 guy officially right now. What me and PP were trying to do is spread the facts of what is actually going on there. It's easy to misread the watch list and misinterpret it wrong, for instance someone thought he was ranked #11 in the country. He may end up being ranked that, but right now they don't have rankings for anyone on there.

I'm by no means trying to discount or take anything away from him. That he is even being considered for the ESPN 150 is a great honor and achievement, I would guess that at worst he will end up as a pretty high 3 star player on there because of that. I like FT-Highlands, so I hope that he makes the cut. Either way ESPN has him as a very highly rated recruit :thumb:.

This is the Watch list unless I'm mistaken. There are about 300 kids on that if not more. All that means is that they are inconsideration for a top 150 ranking in ESPN. He may end up on there but I don't think they bring out the first 150 rankings until the summer.

Cats as in me? I may be down there, but I wouldn't be able to see Rowan unless they won a game or two. I can't miss school because of student teaching, I only get two absenses and need a doctor's excuse to get those. :thumb:

My only thing was that if anyone complained about Townsend at least he actually moved here, unlike many 16th region transfers the last few years. I do not know why they moved here, but I probably knew his mom for 4 or 5 months before she even told me that it was her son that played at Rowan County so I don't think it's just for basketball. I just hate that crap of saying "well they had a transfer player", and would have hated to see anyone use it as an excuse. Maybe Menifee could use it as an excuse in this region, but I cannot think of another team in the region that could legitimately do it. But back to the game. It was a dandy, congrats to Rowan. I felt they were the better team, and I think they showed it. Who do they play at State? With the way they've played lately I expect them to make a pretty good showing.

I hate all this transfer crap. Good grief, its high school kids playing basketball. Was the Townsend kid a big help to Rowan? Sure. But so were the Knipps to Elliott (WC a while back), Gregg and Bush to Ashland, Terry to Fairview, and tons of other players through out the years. I can't think of one team in the area that hasn't benefitted from a kid moving in. Just let the kids play ball and forget about it. Find me one school that hasn't had a big player come in and let that school cast the first stone.

Could you sync it up with the radio broadcast of the game? I wouldn't buy it anyway, as I don't have a dog in the fight but that might be really cool if it could be done and work alright.

One of the better 16th region title games in recent years, it was a shame that one team had to lose. Rowan has a really nice team, I really like watching the Wing kid play, I think he's a good leader and a great athlete. Ashland played really hard, they just did not have enough in the tank to complete the comeback. Either team would have represented the 16th very well at the State Tourney.
