Right on! Coach Lickert has a fine group of young men on his team and an excellent, caring staff. He has high expectations for this program and is commited to taking it to the next level. He is well aware that doesn't happen overnight.

It is obvious that some of you don't know Coach Lickert or what makes him tick. Coach Lickert bases his decisions on what's best for his team and the growth of his programs. He sets the highest standards for himself, his staff and his players. He is committed to doing what it takes to move his programs to the next level. He encourages his players to believe in themselves and be the best they can be, on and off the field. He works to instill a winning attitude. It will always be his goal to outwork the competition and to compete with the best teams in the state, Highlands being one of them. Lucky for him, no one has exclusive rights to success.

Hopefully this is a small group, and the rest of the Camel faithful will give Coach Lickert the support he deserves. I have no doubt that he will do everything in his power to take their program to the next level. They are fortunate to have him. Congratulations, Coach Lickert!

It sounds like the interview committee might have had two extra members they did not know about, Remember....... loose lips sink ships. Any time a new head coach is hired they bring with them a coach or two. Any new head coach would interview the current staff to see if they share his coaching philosophy and vision for the team's future, I'm sure if Coach Lickert is the choice here he will do the same

West Jessamine does have a very good team. Big and aggressive. And Holmes didn't play as well as they can. But that doesn't change the fact that a Holmes touchdown that was called back for holding (that no one can find on film), would have been the winning touchdown for Holmes.

Amen! The players and coaches involved withe the Holmes football program have much to be proud of. Those close to the program understand the magnitude of the advancement of this football program. The events that lead to the loss on Friday night were upsetting to all involved and it is disheartening to read the negative comments. I think posters need to think about the ramifications of comments that are non-factual opinions before they spew negativity.

Rumors do not benefit anyone. I'm certain that Coach Lickert is only thinking about winning games in the regular season and the play offs with the Holmes Bulldogs.

Tressel is right. It WAS 26-21 in the fourth quarter. Dixie scored 3 times in the 4th quarter. Check the recap.

A winning program with dedicated athletes and tradition doesn't happen overnight. It comes over time with great coaching, winning, and commitment from the players, parents and administration. The kids must believe and work hard throughout the year. Coach Lickert and the Bulldog coaches are building that type of program at Holmes. With perserverance and time anything is possible. Go Bulldogs!

Schools should be able to compete with schools of similar enrollments. I guess the KHSAA feels the same, otherwise there would not be 6 classes based on enrollment. Holmes is playing in the class they rightfully belong in. I'm sure they do not think the playoffs will be a cake walk. The players and coaches at Holmes High School have worked very hard and have much to be proud of, and they now have a chance to compete against schools with similar numbers. Congratulations to Coach Lickert, his staff and the Holmes Bulldog Football team! Good Luck! You have made us proud.

As I recall Stephen Lickert, then a senior playing linebacker for the Bluebirds, stopped Bell's ball carrier 3 times in a row at the end of the game. Bell was driving very deep in Highlands territory (I think inside the 10 yard line) and a score would have resulted in a win for Bell County. These defensive plays forced a change of possession giving Highlands the ball and the rest is history. :thumb:

Congratulations to Coach Campbell. He is a great coach and will certainly be an asset to the Scott program. In reference to the commute questions, Coach Campbell's wife is a professor at Georgetown College. That might give some insight to the commute.
