Final

Wow,I am impressed that Dixie came back so strong after last weeks humiliation .Nice job coach Spritzky and staff for keeping the team focused on recovery.

Score not indicative of the game IMO. 2 late scores we kind of tack ons. A couple of interesting calls against the Bulldogs by the referees. If Holmes would have scored from the 2 yard line to open the second half I believe they would have gone on to win.

Seth Bruns for Dixie runs wild tonight....we're talking serious speed.

Holmes is exposed. Congrats Dixie

Ludicrous speed

I thought 7 was a better runner than 23.

Not what I expected.

Justice is a nice looking sophomore isn't he?

Not what I expected.

I would agree. Like I said earlier score wasnt reflective of the game. I thought Holmes came to play, just couldnt punch it in the endzone a couple of drives.

Only a Sophomore? If used properly this kid could be decent.

As already stated, the score isn't reflective of how this game went.

Dixie jumped out to a 13-0 lead but Holmes answered right back with 2 td's. Both teams had extra points blocked after one of the td's.

Dixie would go back up 20-13 and then 26-13 after another missed PAT, and head in to the locker room up 26-13 at the half.

Second half Holmes got the ball and drove all the way to the Dixie 1 but couldn't punch it in as they were stuffed on a 4th and goal attempt. Dixie doesn't do anything their next drive and Holmes pulls to within 26-20 at the 1:34 mark of the third quarter after a Jensen 15 yard td run. If Holmes scores on their previous drive, we're looking at a tied game or Holmes up 1 heading in to the 4th quarter.

Dixie would score on their next possession and head in to the 4th up 33-20, rather than tied or down 1. Colonels tacked on two more td's late in the 4th (first at the 5:58 mark, second at the 3:03 mark) and win the game 47-20.

Difference in the game was Dixie's size and physical play on both lines. Holmes also killed themselves with costly penalties and mental mistakes during crucial moments.

Looking at the stats, you'll see this was much closer than the score might indicate. Dixie simply capitalized on Holmes' mistakes and turned them in to points.

Late in the game the Colonels were able to control the clock with Bruns, Pike (short distance runs), and Justice on the ground. BTW, Justice is a flat out stud for a sophomore.

Also, for those who might think Holmes isn't "for real' because of this score, you're sadly mistaken. Holmes drove up and down the field all night against Dixie. Peterson had a huge game out side, Jensen had a huge game rushing and throwing, and both Simpson and Clemons had nice runs for the Dogs.

Dixie is absolutely huge on both sides of the ball and I doubt very seriously the Dogs run in to another 4A team with the type of size and physicality of Dixie (Outside of maybe Boyle Co or Bell Co)

Pretty nice recap. The offensive pass interference call on Holmes in the second half was a joke!

Maybe it was the good job the defense did stopping the drive inside the five. Don't agree with you. I never thought Dixie was going to loose that game. In my opinion, holmes did not utilize their big play guys, Oden and Peterson enough. Maybe that was also due to Dixie's defense.
