Brossart Coach Joe Lloyd, Dead at 56

The Brossart sports community was saddened today to learn of the passing of longtime baseball coach Joe Lloyd. Coach Lloyd was 56 years old, and would have turned 57 this coming Saturday.

Lloyd served under three Brossart head coaches, Bob Rowe, Matt Grosser, and Ron Verst from 2000 through 2018, where he was instrumental in the team's winning District titles in

1999, 01, 06, 07, 10, 12, a Regional Title in 2012 and a State Final Four finish that same season.

In 2004 he served as an assistant to Mac Whitaker in coaching the Kentucky Junior-Senior All-Star teams.

All three of his children were part of Brossart championship basketball teams. Jon Lloyd was a junior on Willie Schlarman's 2000 10th Region Championship team. His daughter Jessica was a point guard on Ray Kues' 2001 10th Region Girls Championship team, and Matt Lloyd was a member of Mike Code's 2007 All "A" State Championship team. All three exemplified their dad's hustle and hard work ethic.

No arrangements have been made at this time.

Nobody bled greener blood than Joe Lloyd.
