May 2, 201115 yr They weren't positive in August he was there. They only knew it had to be target of high interest and possibly Osama. By February they were as sure as they were going to be he was there and that's when they started planning the attack. I would prefer they take their time and get this one right. Did he just say no in Arabic or I wonder if he attempted to escape? While I would not have been opposed to a 10 year long torture session to take place, my only two options would have been death by 30 bullets or 31. I am not usually one to promote violence or the death penalty (even the Hussein one made me cringe), but with this guy I can make an exception.

And if people would remember back after 9-11, the US was also saying "UBL", I remember Rumsfeld saying this several times. I even commented on here back then about how the first three letters of his name spelled USA.

If you were Osama Bin Laden, wouldn't you have made video of yourself proclaiming that you were not dead and have that sent to the masses if you actually were killed (like a video that your closest followers put out if you were actually killed?) If I was him I would totally do that to cause a lot of disturbance and make the US governement look foolish.
May 2, 201115 yr Actually I think that the political card was drawn here first. Wrong. Simply mentioning politics, does not make it political. My opinion is that is nearly as much a victory for President Bush as it is for President Obama. I believe that President Obama paid homage to that by calling President Bush before the public address last night to tell him of the news. That is why I would like it to be a non-partisan victory.

I don't like the gray areas it allows to do it the specific way they did (as has been discussed in this thread). I don't doubt the veracity of the statements, but I can easily see how some could find issues here.
May 2, 201115 yr Wanted to make sure it was him, in the past we had bad Intel. Possibly seeing who else may arrive too? What he said was he was briefed on a POSSIBLE lead in August, and it was far from certain and it took many months to run this to ground. Then last week Obama thought we had enough Intel to take action. The first option was to blow the hell out of the place, but he wanted proof we got him. That's what I'm thinking too. I'm hoping they knew he couldn't go anywhere and they wanted to see who all knew he was there.
