May 2, 201115 yr My question is, Why bury him at sea? I may be skeptical, but I'm not sure that I completely believe this. No pictures of the body, and the man had hundreds of look alikes. I thought they said the FBI/CIA has pictures of the body. They identified him by DNA. What else would they do with it? Don't you think he would come out with a video or something if he wasn't really dead?

It had something to do with the Islamic tradition of quick burials and it was also due to no country wanting to take his body. Some Islams are insisting that the only proper burial is in the ground.

One, so they don't have a location to make like a shrine, a place of pilgrimage. And by handling it with Islamic tradition for a burial, it shows we are not at war with Islam. And "A U.S. official said that the burial decision was made after concluding that it would have been difficult to find a country willing to accept the remains. There also was speculation about worry that a grave site could have become a rallying point for militants." Edited May 2, 201115 yr by SportsGuy41017

It was interesting to read that Osama's sister died seven years ago in Boston and the FBI subpoenaed her brain so that one day they would be able to use it to match DNA.
May 2, 201115 yr As someone who is very much a critic of President Obama, I thought his speech was great last night. Also thought the statements by President's Bush and Clinton were awesome as well. Just feels absolutely great to be an American today! Thank you to all our troops overseas and stateside! I don't always agree with you, but I do 100% on this post. :thumb:

Don't you think he would come out with a video or something if he wasn't really dead? They did do a DNA test? I would just have like to see some sort of physical evidence of the body, that's all.
May 2, 201115 yr They did do a DNA test? I would just have like to see some sort of physical evidence of the body, that's all. The people who needed to see the evidence seen it, no one else needs to see it, it would only spark more outrage.
May 2, 201115 yr Only you would try to make this political. Pathetic, and I shouldn't be surprised.I'm not making it political at all ... simply stating a fact. Bottom line, our previous president didn't make capturing or killing bin Laden a high priority. This one did, and I, for one, am very happy about it.

May 2, 201115 yr The people who needed to see the evidence seen it, no one else needs to see it, it would only spark more outrage. That's fine, but it allows for skepticism like I have. That's all.

Simply a completely unnecessary one in this thread, and one that attempts to needlessly turn this into a political debate.

May 2, 201115 yr Seals gave OBL a chance to surrender. He declined. Would love to have been a fly on the wall for that one...
