May 2, 201115 yr So we didn't tell the Pakistanis until the very end.We should now demand the return of the 18+ billion we sent to Pakistan!
May 2, 201115 yr US official says to expect a Bin Laden tape soon.Yup, a tape that was to be released upon his death.
May 2, 201115 yr So we didn't tell the Pakistanis until the very end. How did we fly helicopters unbeknownst to them? I'm guessing the Pakistanis are going have a lot to explain.
May 2, 201115 yr I think UK was talking about how long the search went on under Bush. The rest westsiders' post/s are nothing more than his hatred for Bush. He has nothing to back up any of it and it is 100% his opinion.I don't hate Bush ... I do severely dislike how he pushed us into a war in Iraq, which had nothing to do with 9/11, and diverted resources there that may have helped us locate bin Laden and capture/kill him much earlier than we did. Bush even said publicly that finding Obama wasn't that big of a concern for him. I am glad that his successor made it a priority. No backup? Hardly.
May 2, 201115 yr I bet there's an interesting dynamic today. Progressives are torn. Happy that OBL is dead but disappointed that it came about as it did and that many actions put in place by President Bush are still in place and contributed in some manner. Anti-President Obama side has to be careful to not criticize the Commander-in-Chief but at the same time making sure that President Bush is credited. Politics NEVER leaves the equation. Correct, Clyde. I look at it as an AMERICAN victory that happened to occur on a Democratic President's watch. I'm just about as liberal as they come and I'm not gonna lose a second of sleep over the way the thing went down. In fact, I believe the same should have been done with Saddam. Enormous savings of lives and dollars that way.

May 2, 201115 yr Nice job all around, I liked the decision to send in the SEALS to avoid unintended deaths. It's nice to have an event that for the most part we can all enjoy as American's no matter where you fall on the political spectrum. I wonder how that fire, wailing and gnashing of teeth is going for Osama right now.

May 2, 201115 yr I wonder if the Seals spit on him after they killed him? I would have. I wonder if it was just spit that was put on his carcass.
May 2, 201115 yr You cover football. Ever hear of misdirection? That would be a charitable characterization of it ...
