If you were to make a movie based on a high school basketball team or a high school coach whom would you pick?

 

My early thoughts are the Clay Co Tigers and Coach Bobby Keith in the 80's or Bo Davenport and Edmonson County back in the day. Breck County had a nice run. Yes Rojas we will put Coach Hicks and Scott County in there for you...lol

 

What does everyone think? Who would you select to play the Coach...etc.... might be a fun topic while we wait for basketball season to come around again.

That was a great story as was the Laurel County championship of 1982.

 

Paintsville of 96 was another. Carlisle County in 1983....the list goes on. Keep them coming.

Wayland High School in the days of Kelly Coleman.

King Kelly Coleman is a story that should have been put on the bigscreen. He story is similar to Johnny Neuman of fame back in the old SEC if anyone recalls that name from the past.

Corky Withrow is another interesting story. Coach Bob Davis would be also.

No question should the movie be made about King Kelly!!! The storyline would be amazing. Jack Pack used to tell us all of the old stories of King Kelly while he was growing up as a kid around him. In all honesty, it could be a great movie!!!

...as was the Laurel County championship of 1982.

 

Most people would think the finish was corny! Its almost hard to believe that it really happened!

Actually, Carlisle County didn't win the state title, but lost on a last-second shot in triple overtime to end what might be the best championship game ever.

 

Heck, I cried after the Comets lost that game ... so did most of Carlisle County. They were a heck of a team to watch.

Couldn't ask for a better game than the '83 classic between HC/Carlisle.

You missed the most fantastic selection of all for a movie. No other choice comes close. Its the 1928 Carr Creek national runner up team.

Another good choice was the 1936 Benham Tiger team. They were the best team in the state by far. Benham had dominated their region and beaten Corbin badly in the regular season but was not allowed to participate in the regional tournament because Harlan County was quaritantined due to an illness epidemic in Harlan County. Corbin went on to win the state championship in 36.

I would have to go with the Simon Kenton story. Everything for a good movie is there. Plus they made a great run for the state championship and won it.
