h.s.sportsrbest
There has been a lot of talk on here about market sizes and what cities fall where. I thought I'd pass along some updated ADULT populations and the media market ranking that they fall within. Again, these are the markets and not the city limits. #1 New York (15,790,000 adults) #2 Los Angeles (13,049,000) #3 Chicago (7,131,000) #4 Philadelphia (5,945,000) #5 San Fran / Oakland (5,116,000) #6 Boston (4,783,000) #7 Dallas / Ft. Worth (4,725,000) #8 Washington DC (4,560,000) #9 Atlanta (4,315,000) #10 Houston (4,060,000) #17 Cleveland (2,978,000) #20 Sacramento / Modesto (3,033,000 -- anyone else shocked?) #22 Pittsburgh (2,269,000) #25 Indianapolis (2,014,000) #26 Charlotte (1,995,000) #29 Raleigh / Durham (1,947,000) #30 Nashville (1,830,000) #32 Columbus, OH (1,718,000) #33 Cincinnati (1,695,000) #48 Louisville (1,226,000) #58 Dayton, OH (979,000) #60 Knoxville (992,000) #63 Lexington (931,000)

Can anyone dig up how much area or square miles it covers, compared to other cities? And even better, if you include the numbers from this area, I'd say as a "Media Market" it could be very large, especially if you look at it how place like Lex, Louisville, and Cinci all share some of the same folks. Could be interesting from that perspective.
h.s.sportsrbest
Do you have a link to the entire list? Yes, but it's expensive and I'd be eating free cheese if I attached the link.:bunny: There is a lot of info on the "link" that can't just be given away. Sorry. I'll answer questions about markets I didn't include if you have them. Thanks for understanding.

From talking to GT and others that have been there, I guess I shouldn't have been. I always just think of Sac-town as a relatively small, quaint, State Capitol (think: Madison, WI) and that is clearly 100% wrong.
cshs81
It doesn't seem that long ago that Cincy was in the top 20. Or am I making that up?

h.s.sportsrbest
Cincinnati has not been any higher than the high 20's in the last 25 years. In the last 10 years they have been #3 in Ohio. The Cincy market population hasn't fluctuated much in the last 25 years, but other markets have moved past them because of their growth / expansion (i.e. Raleigh / Durham, Charlotte, and Nashville). cshs81
I would never have guessed that Nashville has a bigger market than Cincinnati. Great city.
h.s.sportsrbest
I would never have guessed that Nashville has a bigger market than Cincinnati. Great city. I knew that Pittsburgh was bigger than the 'Nati, however, I certainly wouldn't have guessed they were a good 1/3 larger. That margin shocked me.
