2024 Tigers

Every skill player on this 2026 team plus Flaherty at RB, Aylor at RB, Erdman at WR, Cusick at WR and the only difference is Hayden at QB instead of Queen.

A great group, Fryman was the only player from this current team with a significant offensive role, and he's so much better of a player now. Cusick and Erdman were studs so I would take '24 receivers overall if Fryman is on both teams for comparison. Sowder's blocking and athleticism at TE is very underrated on this team, best TE at Beechwood in a long time. I'm taking Pabst/Wilson over Flaherty/Aylor at RB. And I'm taking Queen over Hayden (even though I think QB is closer than people would believe). Close competition though!

I'm not sure CCH has that much of a depth advantage this year. I was looking at rosters around Nky at the beginning of the season to scope out familiar last names from program to program and I was borderline shocked when I saw how few players CCH has on the roster this year.

I can't disagree with you there that is what makes it a juggle back and forth. I believe Cov Cath's depth this year really comes from their strength and conditioning program.

Go to this link:

https://www.covcath.org/athletics/tickets-and-broadcasting.cfm

Then scroll down the page, you go past the Varsity Football announcement for the Beechwood game with the Event Policies listed.  Eventually you come to Video Streaming and the first listing is for the Varsity Football vs. Beechwood game but that is for a $40 channel ticket and not for a $10 game ticket.  You have to scroll down just a bit further and you will come to:

Purchase Individual Upcoming Games (All Sports)

The default under Purchase Individual Upcoming Games (All Sports) is the JV/Varsity Soccer vs. Lexington Catholic.  Now, once you see that, the JV/Varsity Soccer vs. Lexington Catholic, there is a column/box to the right and within that column the second option is Varsity Football vs. Beechwood.  Click on that.  Once you click on that the $10 Purchase Ticket option comes up for the Beechwood game.

I agree. Clay Hayden is sub 6 foot and kindly a below average athlete and still would up at a really good D2 program - AKA he was a total high school stud.

When you have kids watch year after year as the coach of a 4A or 5A sized program uses the same 9 or 10 kids to fill most starting spots in both directions you're bound to get a lot of kids who are gonna decide they have better things to do with their time than go out for a football team just to spend time standing on the sideline.

Very well put.

I guess that solves that mystery.

Do you know how many CCH players play both ways?

Does anyone know for Beechwood?

As a Beechwood grad I voted for Beechwood but I would be somewhat surprised if Beechwood wins.

Top of my head six guys start both ways for CCH, including WR/S Brandon Smith who may still be injured, so that would drop it to five if he's out. A few others rotate in both sides.

While Cov Cath is not a big enough school to two platoon, getting more guys involved would certainly help with numbers. To use a basketball term, I felt like the rotation was really tight last year and a few talented players didn't see much time -ex. WR/DB Mac Cogswell, TE/LB Spencer Clukey, WR/DB Jason Fedor. All three of these guys have had some really good production this year.

Not using Clukey in particular vs Boyle County in the playoffs was mind-blowing. We had some 155 pound senior DB getting bulldozed trying to set the edge vs legit talent while an athletic 6'4 230 pounder is on the sideline. A good way to give up 500 yards rushing and lose.

Some good reading there, with input from knowledgeable BGPeeps and passionate fan bases. Interesting perspectives on how the series has evolved.
