Hope this isn’t breaking the rules Guru.

let everyone decide for themselves. One play however is not the only reason for this game’s final score. ?

Looks like the knee is down before the ball comes out, but you definitely can't tell 100% either way.

  • Congrats Covington Catholic, you have a lot to be proud of tonight.

  • Congratulations Covington Catholic on a very well played game.  They had a great game plan and at the end won the game.  Good luck going forward!  I knew this was going to be a game!

4 pass attempts for Cov Cath tonight...we don't have all the historical stats to back it up, but that may well be the fewest passing attempts in a game in program history. Colonels with 350 yards rushing tonight (234 yards for Cash Harney on 28 carries), and 98 yards passing for 448 total yards of offense to Boyle County's 287 total yards of offense.

Nice win for Cov Cath.

Wow that’s a statement win. Gotta feel great for the Colonels.  I hope to get to see them again at Kroger Field in a couple weeks.

Knees are noticeably down, but in any Sport never put the game in an Officials hands like that. You’re probably not going to like the outcome!

Down at the 1. It is what it is.

This was a huge call.  Down?…..maybe?  We have all seen enough college and NFL replays to know the ball could easily been separated before those knees touch.  In this video angle the ball is completely blocked by defenders pads and so you have to trust the officials that were right on the play.

Somebody called this one. IMG_9481.thumb.jpeg.eb34fe0ca7e5fcf1f8c15f0c375d9222.jpeg

The changing of the guard can happen that quickly in sports.  Not saying Boyle won’t be back, but should come back to the field with what they lose off this team.

If you can play defense and run the ball that is a recipe for success in the playoffs.

What a great win by the Blue Colonels. EE and the staff prepared well and the kids believed and executed as a team. Mental toughness personified to go down to Danville and beat a heavily favored opponent that had throttled you a year earlier. Give Eddie a heckuva lot of credit.

Especially when the weather gets involved.

Maybe the biggest upset ever in Ky high school football playoffs?

1993…Prestonsburg goes to Danville, on a damp, muddy night and takes down the Admirals. Ends the Ads 42 game win streak. (Congrats to this year’s Blackcat team, great turnaround)

1974…Middlesboro travels to Boyd County and beats the HIGHLY regarded  and number one ranked, Lions in the Class AA playoffs. The coldest game that I have ever attended, which includes the Dec 1, 2006 state finals.

and tonight’s game…Colonels win over Boyle County.

In no particular order, all three were great games!

I think the win is stunning but let's not pretend that Cov Cath is not one of KY's top 10-15 programs overall in football and they were hardly limping into this one at 10-2 with losses to two teams who will be playing next Friday as well. Amazing win. Big upset. The biggest ever I think is a little insulting to who Cov Cath is IMHO.

Uncanny! Impressive.

Before the beginning of the season. Several people didn't think Cash would start at qb. Cash Harney is a stud!

This was me! Obviously very happy to be wrong in an offseason thread and for things to turn out like this ?

Last night was definitely the best case scenario for an athletic QB vs a high end team. You get +1 in the run game and can shorten and control the tempo of the game.

A major key was no major drive killing penalties or turnovers. Constantly staying ahead of the chains was the one of the two deciding factors along with the two fumbles from Boyle.

I can’t say enough good things about the team and staff. Extremely impressive.
