Well yeah, but I was talking within the context of this game specifically. Maybe Cov Cath keeps it close for a while and then Elder eventually pulls away type of deal.

The disrespect is crazy. The Colonels, even in their down years, have always been a tough out! The JV team wouldn’t go 1-7. They quickly calibrated against Ryle even after being down a couple touchdowns. Sure, Ryle was better, but this team will surprise this season. Never underestimate Cov Cath.

After the dust has settled after the Ryle loss, I feel like Eddie is going to have a solid gameplan going in to Elder. It’s disappointing to lose your first game, especially at home, but Ryle could certainly win 6A. I think the Colonels strike some fear into the Panthers; we may not win this game but we’ll go down swinging. I’ll be pleased if it’s closer than the last two times we’ve played them and I’ll be shocked if it isn’t. We’re still one of the best teams in 4A. If we stay healthy, these games are only going to make us better. It would be lovely to at least either win this one or Cathedral (who’s better than Elder) at home.

Central is down this year, that will be a win barring an absolute catastrophe. I think Highlands is 50/50.

It’ll be a double digit loss. Elder held their (admittedly not great at all) opponent to -4 total yards tonight while their quarterback sat most of the second half. I’m guessing it will look much like tonight just a bit uglier.

Excellent point. I’m glad we have the coaching staff we do.

I think that this game is super important for Cov Cath, not only to start the season out right with a win but also due to how arduous the schedule is. I expect the offense to pick up where they left off from last year, and with all the continuity I think that’s reasonable to assume. We know how spectacular the duo of Harney and Gaiser are in the backfield, but the passing game gives me pause. I’m interested to see what it will look like. I think this is ultimately a coin flip but I’ll say the Colonels take it at home.

I’ll be pulling for Cooper in this one and think they’ve developed an excellent program in recent years. With that being said, Anderson is a machine. Raptors win handily, but I’d love to be wrong.

Heartbreaker. Congrats to Franklin County. Colonels should be proud of an excellent year. Fought to the bitter end, and I’m so proud of those guys. Have many critical pieces returning for a serious 2025 run.

We appreciate you as well, Purple. A staple of this site. I agree, it’s quite the feat what Cov Cath did tonight, a truly valiant effort. Our mantra incarnate on the field. Total warriors. Without a doubt, this win will be cherished — an amazing victory against a behemoth of an opponent. However, I agree with @Voice of Reason; Cov Cath must focus on the ultimate goal, which means planning for a very tough Franklin County team next week. The results of this week would be even better if Cov Cath could accomplish what they fell short of last year.

I agree completely. In 2025, with what we have coming back, the 4A crown will be (probably) more attainable than it has in years.
