I too believe Lanning might be their man.  Also hearing that person they want has already been contacted and in the building.

Absolutely. That's why he's the bonafide GOAT, which, if I'm Alabama and I'm obviously not, nor could imagine NOT thinking this way....but, if they compare the next hire as looking for the "closest to

  • Funny thing about football, especially coaches. A guy like Swinney goes 9-4 and it's the first year he's had less than ten wins in several years and he's finished. I would think Alabama contacts him.

From what I am reading and hearing, I am starting to think Dan Lanning.

Lanning's price tag could be staggering. He has a 20 million dollar buyout at Oregon and currently makes 7 million a year.

There are also rumors floating - from credible sources - that there is much more to Lanning's deal at Oregon than what's previously been reported. Something involving stock in Nike that may add to the price tag.

It's been hinted that the total buyout for Lanning scared off Texas A&M when conducting their own coaching search.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bama throw whatever money it takes to get the guy they want, but pulling Lanning away from Oregon was more than A&M oil money wanted to spend. Alabama is a different animal, though. It may not matter to them.

Lanning just announced he is staying at Oregon.

Assuming Dan Lanning is someone who means what he says, he just made a new fan.

I am hearing that Sark is not leaving Texas the name I hear is the top of the list and many think he will take it is Washington Coach Kalen DeBoer. I did not know that his career record as a head coach in is 104-12. He is just 49 years old.

Vrabel is going to New England.

Yeah now that the news came out today that Bill is leaving. You are most likely correct on that.

Didn’t know DeBoer’s record was that impressive. They could go after him but I think he would be on the longer part of the list. Either way, who knows.

I'll say it....Mark Stoops.    LOL

I heard Mike Norvell's name thrown around, but since FSU just got slapped with probation for violating NIL rules, I'd say that knocks him down a few pegs, if not off the list.

This job is a lot like the UCLA basketball job after John Wooden. No matter what you do it won't be enough.

DeBoer does not seem like a fit at all for Alabama. He has no connections to the south. The closest he came to the south was Southern Illinois where he was an offensive coordinator for 2 years. Small sample size as D1 head coach. I don't see it at all.

The NIL stuff is par for the course of late - NCAA just piling on. Coach gave the kid a ride, it’s silly. And FSU shouldn’t have cooperated.

But that aside I pray that it knocks him off the list. We cannot bear losing Norvell at this stage. He’s doing a phenomenal job.

Ha, based on the alleged reaction of Texas A&M's fans and such to rumors that Stoops was going there I would love to see how Alabama fans would react to him being hired.
