Colonels_Wear_Blue
I've done a little digging about the rumors surrounding the Kentucky AP ending their Mr. Football Award. This morning Larry Vaught, who was one of the sports writers who helped create the award for the 1986 football season, stated that he did, in fact believe that the KY AP had done away with it. Then I was told by James Weber, the northern Kentucky prep beat writer for the Cincinnati Enquirer and a KY AP member, that to date the Kentucky AP members have, in fact, not voted for any Mr. Football Award. It looks like this is the end of the road for the AP's Mr. Football, and the Mr. Football Award from the Kentucky Football Coaches Association will now be the sole Mr. Football Award given out in the Commonwealth. 1
DragonFire
How long has the KFCA handed out an award? I had no idea the one given out already wasn’t by the AP.

The first time the KFCA awarded it was in 2018.

ChiefSmoke
As much as anyone, not a fan when a good tradition comes to an end. But, Jimmie Reed, Clay Clevenger, & Jim McKee worked like dogs to get the KFCA Mr. Football Award established and to do a good job with it. Going forward, believe this will work out well and our KFCA members will do a good job in selecting Mr. Football.
