Have they set a time for the resumption of the regular meeting???

RIght now the link shows past State Tournament games.

Not seeing anything on my end either. My guess is some heavy behind the scenes "conversations" happening. The dreaded, but always present, hidden "meeting before the meeting"

  • People annoy me with "tradition." Who cares if it is normally played in March? Things aren't normal right now. Move the tournament wherever it needs to be moved in order for the season to be played.

  • To keep the Sweet 16 in March because of “tradition” and to accommodate spring sports is idiotic. We have to be real here and admit that basketball is the bloodline financially for the KHSAA. Playing

  • I agree Mustang. My take on Commissioner Tackett was one of "subdued exasperation."  I think some of the board members were too self absorbed with their own interests and failed to pick up w

BOC Meeting is going on Right now.

Most of the KHSAA discussion seems favorable toward having a season, and the majority certainly support a delayed start (early January).  The delay and limiting fan attendance all makes sense to me... as long as the kids get some kind of season in.  The question I have is about the restrictions on "red counties"?  Currently, there are nearly 100 counties in the "red", which is defined as 25 covid cases per 100,000 (this is a crazy conservative definition compared to other states).  That being said, I don't think most counties will be out of the "red" by January.  Up until this point, the schools in the red, are deciding not to travel, not to play, etc.. So, will we be able to play?  Will the KHSAA weigh in on this?  Or will the districts / counties just decide on their own if they will play.

The board just approved unanimously to have Jan. 4 as the start date for basketball games as well as all other winter sports. The tournament is scheduled weeks 37-38 of the National Federation whatever that is.

Jan 4th - Start Date.

March 1st: District Tournaments.

March 7th:  Region Tournaments.

March 17-21 or 24-28: State Tournament.

Hopefully six weeks of watching Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee high school basketball highlights will soften the position of some districts by January 4.

All public and private schools in Kentucky have to cease in-person instruction beginning November 23rd.

Elementary schools can re-open on December 7th if their county is not "red," and middle & high schools can re-open on January 4th if their county is not "red."

No basketball practice as well.

I know not technically HS basketball but do the state mandates of no practices in gyms have an effect on college basketball in the state of KY?
