Truth. And fair or not, I'd imagine no Sweet Sixteen for a second straight season probably means to soccer, volleyball, cross country, track, swimming, tennis, etc. ever again.

It means a whole bunch of things that are not good for Kentucky High School Sports because there will not be any money so we are in lockstep here @gchs_uk9.

Seemed to work for Ohio with Football. Moved to Obetz for Finals and other bigger high schools for Region Finals.

Those sports are already feeling it.   Schools are operating with less than a third of their normal athletic revenues coming in.....

I've got no problem with a delayed Sweet Sixteen. However, the prudent measure is most likely a delayed start to the regular season, a reduced schedule, and an effort to play the state tournament at it's normal time. Spring sports then start as close to normal as possible. Schedule everything with the huge caveat that flexibility is a must.

That is exactly what I was thinking Deuce.  I decided against calling out some of the individual board members but man some of those old guys are lost balls in tall weeds.

And to the positive, that is what the Commish has been trying to get across to those guys but they are too stubborn and self centered to absorb it.

Which, fair or not, is probably a good argument for shortened seasons (especially indoor winter sports) because it will absolutely cost more to play a 30-game basketball season than the revenue brought in.

Any word from those of you watching the proceedings.....?

Obviously I'm fine with it staying in March, but then reduce the schedule if that's what they want to do.

My ears started bleeding so I ended the pain.

In some years that wouldn't be the case, but this year - with minimal attendance - it most certainly will be.

From a purely fiscal standpoint, it would be better not to play sports at all this year.   The minimal income received would be outweighed by the costs.   But that wouldn't be fair to the kids, and I personally think we should do everything we can to ensure they get some experience.

There's no "red-shirting" in high school.

I personally could go for a shortened season ....the kids might lose a few basketball games, but for many of those same kids, they'd pick up opportunities in other sports like baseball, track, etc.

But a Sweet 16 in May would "still smell as sweet" (with apologies to the poet).

Any good corporate meeting has already floated proposals.  The group then limits the proposals as they read to two or three, and then after some discussion vote on 1, 2, or 3.  These guys are all over the place wanting bits and pieces of each proposal.

It is now 1:45pm and we are still in the business meeting with no agreed upon proposal for basketball.  They need to either vote on Proposal 1 or 2 - start January 4th and either play the state tournament the week ending March 20th or early May.

Since Basketball was such a hot topic, this should have probably been discussed at a "Special Meeting."

A Camel (the animal) is a thoroughbred designed by committee.  That's what we have here.
