Let's remember, so far the Rona does not appear to be much of a threat to children. Additionally, if you can stuff 20 or 30 students and a teacher in a room together you can play sports. All I am asking for is consistent logic.

They are looking at options that wouldn’t place that many in a room. Both OH and KY have brought up options of only having half the population which if done correctly means half the bodies in a room. Though that is a logistics nightmare. People keep bringing up it isn’t as harmful to younger ages. There are a lot more than kids involved in school. All the other workers that could be exposed. Bus drivers are hard enough to find. We’ve had three test positive and one die. In our school we also have a large population that is raised by grandparents or older adults.

Logic means that those 20-30 kids can become infected, live and then spread it to their grandparents and possibly kill them.

I hear a lot of talk about the "new normal" and things will never go back to the way they were pre-COVID19. Maybe that new normal for education is at risk employees either take their chances or they need to leave education.

 

I know some people are going to be unhappy with me for saying that but at some point we need to move past statements of the problem and start coming up with workable solutions.

I'm not cool with getting thrown to the wayside because people are getting stir crazy. It's sad we think this is bad and we "must have changes now" when it could be far worse.

I am with you 100%. It’s a sad state of affairs these days. I never would have thought that the reactions to this pandemic would be like this. I am continually amazed by the things I see and hear.

The only way sports won't be played even if schools are back open. Is if the professional leagues still haven’t came back. However, if the NFL is back and school is in, then high school sports also will be played.

I am in lockstep with fc on if the pros play then the high schools will play. I am not as certain that the colleges will follow suit.

What about the student’s families? Sorry your parents are dead from drugs or in jail and you’re getting raised by grandma. You still have to come to school and risk bringing home a virus that will kill the only relatives you have that are willing to take you in. Sorry parents you will all be responsible for bringing your kids to school because there are not enough bus drivers. Custodians, cafeteria workers, officer works and teachers either get out or be ok with the risk of dying or killing others in your family due to a virus. That’s the stance people want to take?

Yes the same people who criticize people for endangering their family by wanting to figure out a solution of getting back to some normalcy are the same people going to Kroger and Lowes twice a week. Life is about risk and personal responsibility if you are scared or at risk, stay home. Don't let others around you or come to your home. There is no way we can continue this until a vaccine is available!

I wouldn’t be surprised if the KHSAA doesn’t move all Fall and Winter sports to Spring of 2021 along with Spring sports and tell the Schools to hash it out. Talk about making a student athlete choose between sports. And a logistic nightmare!
