New Zealand going extra hard. They are trying to eliminate CV19 completely from the nation. They are getting close to accomplishing it. They were down to 9 new cases yesterday.

If you want to see the opposite look at Sweden right now.

Their population (4.8 million) is about the same as Kentucky's.

I'd say the self isolation was also made a lot easier, being an island in the South Pacific.

Coronavirus: Earliest COVID-19 deaths in Bay Area occurred in February, not March https://bayareane.ws/2RZwTih

Yeah, and the only reason why they know this is that there was a tissue sample taken at autopsy that they were able to test. So, given the fact that so many of the deaths today involve a co-morbidity (heart, lung, cancer, etc.)...how many deaths early on would've just been attributed to what the patient was already known to have? And, if you know the patient was suffering from lung cancer...would you still do an autopsy, and still have tissue samples around to now test?

I read that article about the autopsy showing someone died on February 6th from COVID-19. Gives credence to the theory that it was here sooner than later.

Also gives credence to the reports that COVID-19 was known by worldwide leaders in November.

And no one anywhere did anything proactive. Everything was reactive. Awesome.

That test along with the antibodies test IMO easily show that it was here way before we were even aware and that way more people have had it and recovered than we know. At the same time more people would have died as well. At this point I don't think we will ever have accurate numbers as to the amount of infections or deaths and therefore cannot know the actual mortality rate.

Those cases discovered in Santa Clara actually seem to fit the model to me. Santa Clara was one of the first places to go into shutdown mode so it makes sense there were earlier deaths there. There is a large Chinese population in that region. That also makes sense in that someone may have traveled back from China and introduced the virus there.

Let's now assume that there were infected people in that region in mid January. About 1 1/2 to 2 months later the outbreak has spread so far that Santa Clara has to shut down. That fits right along the Wuhan China time line of first cases happening in mid November and shut down happening in mid January.

I don't think anyone knew exactly what was happening because China wasn't telling anyone exactly what was happening.

No one is telling the truth and China kick started all the lies and plausible deniability.

Why the rush to open when the numbers and projections show huge benefits from staying shut down just a couple more weeks? We are missing an opportunity and wasting the shutdown if we open too soon. Just two more weeks will be well worth it at this point. Places that open too soon have weak leaders.

As of yesterday, the 900 ICU beds in the Tampa Bay Area were at less than 50% capacity. 33 of those 440 beds were being used to treat Covid-19 patients.

Largo City Park has reopened with social distancing regulations.

Contrary to twitter accounts, the beaches in Florida are pretty much empty. I checked the live cams just before posting this. Daytona had the most people on it, but there were very few and "far between". I saw 2 people jogging on St. Pete Beach. Jacksonville Beach is empty, as is Clearwater Beach and South Beach in Miami. There was one person on Siesta Key Beach walking around. It's 1 in the afternoon.

People appear to be adhering to social distancing without being forced to. That's a good thing.

I forgot to check Panama City Beach. The beach was empty. The pier had people on it fishing, but they appeared to be keeping distance.

Kind of unprecedented territory in terms of how to react. That's where a lot of the blame is with China for me right now. During the worlds first bout with SARS, which of course also originated in South China, they only had a little over 5,000 cases. It spread world wide but the total reported cases never made it over 10,000 world wide. That's a lot different than how Covid-19 has spread throughout the world.

I'm just hoping that folks that recover from this strain of the virus don't end up having long term health problems. It will be very interesting to see how this whole thing is viewed in 10 years.

The city of Florence just joined the city of Covington by announcing the Florence Aquatic Center will not open this summer. Sad times for sure.
