Those policies aren’t regulated. With the kinda money he’s set to get he would certainly lose money after battling with the insurance company. The 2/3rd round guys break closer to even.

 

I agree and said in another post he would lose money, but a good attorney could get a pretty decent policy, although attorney fees then eat a good amount.

 

I would advise sure fire 1st rounders to not play.

Former South Carolina RB Marcus Lattimore was projecting as a first round pick. He shredded his knee his junior year so bad he never played a down in the NFL. He was drafted in the fourth round despite the shredded knee. Still, with insurance and signing bonus he made something like $2 million. His insurance policy was $1.7 million and he got a $300,00 signing bonus. That is probably the absolute worst case scenario on the injury risk and he still made $2 million. He likely would have made at least double, probably triple that if not for the knee injury. Not to mention not qualifying for the pension.

That kid was a beast he had shades of an Ezekiel Elliott before his first injury. If he had stayed healthy he easily makes 15-20 mill in the NFL.
